Fast Forward: an Alt Er Love novella - Xio Axelrod

Ian was left behind by the love of his life, Jessen.  When Jessen comes back to town, he has a hard time believing that everything will just go back to where it was.  He no longer wants to go back.  He has a bright future, even though lonely.

Jessen for all his faults, is honest.  He still wants Ian, still wants to live close to Ian, and no longer travel the world.  He has seen and done it all and is ready to come back to who he loves.

This story touched me since I had sincere respect for the characters.  They were both brutally honest with one another.  I give props to the author for this.  I love honesty!  I also loved that no matter what, love got them together.  I hope to see more from this author, as I really like the style.  I give this book a 3/5 Kitty's Paws UP!

Review - Fast Forward by Juliet Madison
Fast Forward - Juliet Madison

Aspiring supermodel, Kelli Crawford seems destined to marry her hotshot boyfriend, but on her twenty-fifth birthday she wakes in the future as a fifty-year-old suburban housewife married to the now middle-aged high school nerd.

Trapped in the opposite life of the one she wanted, Kelli is forced to re-evaluate her life and discover what is really important to her. Will she overcome the hilarious and heartbreaking challenges presented to her and get back to the body of her younger self? Or will she be stuck in the nightmare of hot flushes, demanding children, raunchy advances from her husband and hideous support underwear forever?

If you woke up one day as your future self and found out that the future you were living was nothing like the one you had planned – what would you do? When Kelli Crawford wakes up expecting to be celebrating her 25th birthday dressed in her flashy red dress with her hunky celebrity photographer boyfriend, but actually finds herself in a strange house with a strange husband and the prospect of turning 50, let’s just say that wasn’t quite what Kelli expected for a birthday present!

I just loved this book and the story it told. I couldn’t help but be reminded of the quote by Leon Brown as I read this book – “Life does not always give you what you want, but if you look closely you will see that it gives what you need for growth.” I loved the whole concept of the Fast Forward – being transported to the future so that you can learn what you need to so that when you go back in time you will make the right choices. As Kelli navigates through her day, meeting the children she never planned on having, discovering the incredible man she has married, and finding out all that her future has brought her, it was hard not to find yourself silently cheering for her to open her eyes and see that this version of her future was so much more than she initially envisioned for herself.

Juliet Madison has written such a wonderful story that delivers a very powerful message underneath the humor and love – it’s not often that a romance novel makes me stop and think of my own life and choices, but Fast Forward does just that, which just adds to its appeal!

Fast Forward
Fast Forward - Juliet Madison What a great and interesting read. Aspiring supermodel Kelli Crawford seems destined to marry her hotshot boyfriend, but on her 25th birthday she wakes in the future as a fifty-year-old suburban housewife married to the now middle-aged high school nerd. There were alot of suprises, twists, truths learned and interesting developments. This book had me laughing, wiping a few tears, impatient to find out what happens next and glad i wasn't left hanging by the end of the book. The develops in technology in the future seemed like they could be a possiblity so was very believable, the truths of life in the book were interesting too and could relate to most of them.

Review: Fast Forward by Juliet Madison
Fast Forward - Juliet Madison
I accidentally came upon this book while on Goodreads and I ended up purchasing the novel and finishing it in one sitting!

Kelli comes off as conceited and a bit rude at first, but she grows on you! She was actually really funny. I laughed at her freak outs :) She tends to exaggerate a lot, especially when she went bungee-jumping with her son. Kelli's overly active imagination made this book a fun and light read. Thank goodness I didn't read this in public or otherwise people would think I'm a lunatic since I was smiling like a lunny for most of the book.

Since Kelli was sent to the future, there were tons of new technology. The technology were really cool! There was a built-in coffee maker in the car!!! The car had auto-drive! And it talks to you! I for one can not wait for the future :)

The novel was funny, but it also taught an important lesson. Reading this novel just made me appreciate life and all it has to offer. I'm the kind of person that constantly wonders what if? What if I turned in that assignment on time, would I've gotten a better grade in the class? What if I splurged and got that cute shirt? I'm also a huge planner. I have a plan for my future and intend to follow through with it. I also get stress out when things don't go according to my plans. The funny thing with life is that you never know. The only thing you can do is live your life and have fun doing so. As the kids would say, YOLO. (you only live once!)

Fast Forward - Juliet Madison "Fast Forward" is not only the title of the book, it's also a really intriguing concept that Juliet Madison develops through the story. It's original (to me, at any rate!) and believable (in its way). Best of all, the characters in "Fast Forward" are honest, recognisable, and their relationships -- I loved the genuine emotion of the relationships, their conversation and the tangled mess we can make of relating to those most important to us.

There is a clarity to "Fast Forward" that gives depth to the rom com fun. Compassion, wisdom -- we're on Kelli's emotional journey with her.

This is a wonderful book. Reviewing is a tough gig and I was thinking of cliches: heart warming, life affirming. Nope. What "Fast Forward" does is celebrate life. Live your dreams--and read "Fast Forward" :)
