Fool Me Once
Fool Me Once - Harlan Coben

OK. Let me start with this book was page turner. It was tense, The premise that this woman sees her supposedly dead husband playing with their daughter on the nanny cam a few days after his death hooked me. I will not deny that. The lure was great and for about two-thirds of the book it worked. Thus the three stars.

Then we get to ending of the story, the explanation, the denouement, the moment we have all been waiting for - and it literally made me face palm. "Really Coben?" I said out loud. No, just no. It's one of those endings that SHOULD make you go back and re-read the book to see how he pulled it off. Wondering at his genius. Instead I went, "If you say so..", finished, tossed the book and said, "NEXT!"

It may have been that I did not like the main character. She was cold to me. I didn't really connect with her at all. But that bait was so good I kept reading to find out the answer...

Ugh. Well, Coben can write a decent thriller and I've enjoyed his other works. This one left me wanting.

Friday Reads!
After Atlas (Planetfall Novel, A) - Emma Newman
Fool Me Once - Harlan Coben
A Portrait of Emily Price - Katherine Reay

So yet another busy weekend ahead. But these are my planned reads. I started After Atlas last night and really enjoyed it.

Fool Me Once will scratch my itch to read thrillers especially after reading such a good one in Defending Jacob.  A Portrait of Emily Price just looks like an entertaining lighter read.

Winding down my January TBR and trying to get all my library books read before February. In February,  I will be reading only books I own. I'm looking forward to it as I realize I have quite a few good reads waiting for me. I want to see how many I can get read or donate to betterworldbooks. Dropped off another bag yesterday and I gotta say,  it feels good to get organized.

Hope you all have a great weekend! Happy reading!

Online dating turn murderous
Missing You - Harlan Coben

Good twist and turn turning an online dating story into a detective story.

Image result for online dating

There are a lot of jerks and bitches out there. Sometimes, we see jerks as jerks,

But how else are busy people meeting new people out of their work cycle?

This is a good story. Not so sure about the ending but it could be just me.

Detective Kate is not finding love. So her bff make up an online persona to find her a date.

Then she see the profile or an old flame.

That's start the interesting part of the story.

Then she got involved with a post teenager who think his mom is in danger.

Is there real danger or is he not ready for his mom to go on a date?

Read on. The story is a fast read and it is pretty interesting.

A detective story with a twist
Long Lost - Harlan Coben

Myron is a man who had lost the love of his life. And after all these year of losing touch, she called and invited him to meet him in Paris.

That's the start to a journey with a twist.

Myron is the best friend of Win, the Batman in the story.

Blood was found in a crime scene is not possible.

The twists, and there is more than one, is about finding out what the bad guys are doing. Bad guys in this case are terrorists.

Good story. Creepy. And the subplots are hidden enough to make them interesting.

4 and a half stars
