Stalingrad: The Fateful Siege, 1942-1943 - Antony Beevor The best book I've came across on that subject. Like being there, without the pain and hunger !

Military Misfortunes: The Anatomy of Failure in War
Military Misfortunes: The Anatomy of Failure in War - Eliot A. Cohen,John Gooch It's difficult to understand how anyone can sit back and not worry about the huge numbers of deaths covered in these battles. When I was a kid, I was all in to military history and I didn't care. Now I feel differently. That being said, their approach makes sense, not just for militaries, but for any organization. They make some very valid points, from an analytical perspective (excusing that they are talking about battles). For me the value is in their approach, not in the subject matter.
