Spookie Town – All Things Slip Away by Kathryn Meyer Griffith @KathrynG64
All Things Slip Away - Kathryn Meyer Griffith

Kathryn Meyer Griffith is a prolific writer and her Spookie Town Murder Mystery series has been a big hit for her. She is currently working on Book 7. Woo Hoo. Congratulations Kathryn.

I love the fabulous cover.

All Things Slip Away (Spookie Town Murder Mystery, #2)

Amazon / Audiobook / Goodreads

MY REVIEW

The Prologue for All Things Slip Away filled me in on the highlights of the Spookie Town Murder Mystery Series Book I, Scaps of Paper, and thank goodness. It has been a while since I read it, so I needed a refresher. You could begin reading here, but I am loving this series so much, I would highly recommend beginning at the beginning.

NOW…it’s ten years later and Frank Lester, a Chicago Homicide detective that moved to Spooky town, has found the serial killer he thought he had taken out is back, and he is on the hunt…for revenge.

I read a lot of Young Adult novels, so it is refreshing to be meeting some older characters that carry baggage and memories, and lust does not override their emotions. The romance is a slow burn, but smolders throughout the pages.

There is so much more to the killer than meets the eye. He has his own issues and problems that he cannot overcome. He is driven to seek revenge. The villain is one of those bad guys that can evoke a moment of sympathy for him.

Abigail is Frank’s love interest, but he is not alone in his desire to date her.The sheriff has his eye on her too. Myrtle is a neighbor and she is quite the character. She gave me some laughs and I love some humor with my murder. My heart went out to Laura and Nick, and the rest of their family, two children whose mother is ill and they struggle to even feed themselves. The two kids broke my heart, yet put a smile on my face.

The suspense is ramping up as the pacing takes me to the next event and I am eager, yet apprehensive about HIS and Frank’s next meeting.

Kathryn Meyer Griffith’s has an ability to draw me into the story so deep that I feel like I am walking in Abigail’s shoes, being stalked, feeling like someone is following me, watching me, having me looking over my shoulder, ‘hiding out’, keeping low.

I love that Kathryn can stretch the story, all the while keeping me on edge. It has been months since HE has been seen…life goes on…but, we all know it isn’t over. The tension builds as I wait, wait for the explosion that is about to come.

Well, I guess you can tell how much I loved All Things Slip Away. The story is fabulous and kept me totally engrossed, the characters came to life on the pages through Kathryn’s words and I fell in love with them. The peripheral characters became just as important to me as the main ones. The mystery, yeah, we know who he is, sorta but that does not take away anything from the story.

I highly recommend any of her work. Kathryn has never disappointed me.

The mind blowing cover for Evil Stalks the Night by Kathryn Meyer Griffith was done by Dawn Dominque. I have read a lot of her books and she never ceases to amaze me with the quality of her writing and her vivid imagination that brings her stories and characters to life.

What do you think of this beauty?

MY REVIEW

Ahhhh, summer vacation. The memories. BUT…she felt like she was being watched.

DON’T GO IN THE WOODS! How many times must we be told. LOL

Her terror starts early. What do you see in the woods? Shadows? Flickers of life? Sarah knows what she see all those years ago, though no one believed her. She believes she is in this alone.

I love the feeling of dread that hangs on every word, every sentence, every page. I love that Sarah studies everything about the supernatural that she can get her hands on, preparing for what is to come. She believes in her God and loved her Catholic school days. She walks in both worlds. She is older than her years, strong, determined to keep those she loves safe.

Life had been hard for her, so much pain and loss. She has her son and her brother, Jimmy. Everyone else is gone. She had left, but it called her home and it was time to finish it. They are trapped and I can feel her, gathering herself, preparing to fight to the death. The big question, who will survive. I will be worrying, not just about the evil, but Kathryn Meyer Griffith too. She isn’t afraid to kill off her characters.

At times, the fun dialogue made me forget the danger. That is how good Kathryn Meyer Griffith’s writing is to me. I look at the story as an adventure and I am just along for the ride, and a wild ride it is.

Kathryn Meyer Griffith has the ability to lull me into a sense of complacency even when I know evil is to come. Life goes on in a normal fashion…until, wham, bam…I don’t know how many times I thought I knew what was going to happen or that the end was near, only to be given more, another terror, another event of devastating proportions.

Shades of her true life share some of the pages, but I hope she doesn’t walk the woods at night looking for evil anywhere but in her mind! LOL

Wowed. Amazed. And she broke my heart.

Welcome to my Tag Team & Review.

This is where myself (Sherry at fundinmental) and Laura at fuonlyknew tag team authors and their books.

We share our reviews and giveaways, giving you two views and two chances to win!

Today we are happy to share Scraps of Paper by one of our favorite authors, Kathryn Meyer Griffith. There are 5 books in the series and our her best sellers.

The fantastic cover is done by Dawne Dominique

The ebook for Scraps of Paper is free on many websites. It is also available in Audio on Amazon and you can find it on Goodreads here.

MY REVIEW

I love the cover for Scraps of Paper by Kathryn Meyer Griffith…and that tagline…how could I possibly resist? I feel a sense of foreboding. The book is free everywhere, so feel free to grab a copy.

After two stagnant years of her life, Abigail has found out that her husband, Joel, had been murdered. Misery put her on the road in search of a new life.

She was determined to become a new person.

To find time to live and love.

Spookie Town called to her.

The past and the present merge and the mystery grows.

I love the direction she goes to solve the mystery of Emily and her kids disappearances. She moves into the an empty house and begins to find Scraps of Paper. To find the answers to the mystery makes me think of a scavenger hunt.

Kathryn Meyer Griffith has a way with words and once I begin one of her books, it is hard to put it down. So true with Scraps of Paper. I felt Abigail’s pain and her need to find a way to go on after her husband’s death. When she moves into the empty house, the former tenants mystery becomes hers. She feels a need to find out happened to them because we all need answers…don’t we?

Tag Team Giveaway & Reviews – Egyptian Heart by Kathryn Meyer Griffith @KathrynG64
Egyptian Heart - Kathryn Meyer Griffith

This is where myself (sherry at fundinmental) and laura at fuonlyknew tag team authors and their books.

We share our reviews and giveaways, giving you two views and two chances to win!

Kathryn Meyer Griffith is a prolific writer and I have been loving her work for some time now. Egyptian Heart is a fabulous time travel and alternate history novel that visits the desert sands of Egypt and gives us another look at Nefertiti and the lost necropolis.

I love this gorgeous cover!

Amazon  /  Goodreads

MY REVIEW

Any book by Kathryn Meyer Griffith is one I want on my reading list and this beauty is no exception. I loved my trip to Egypt with Maggie in this time travel, alternate history novel where she will cross the boundaries of time to find the the answer to the riddle of the lost necropolis and Nefertiti, and her one true love.

Maggie’s mother had warned her about life’s surprises…

“It’ll knock you on your butt all right.”

And she is finding how prophetic her words would be.

Maggie’s special talents, which she knew nothing about, were coming to the forefront since she arrived in Egypt. She had been searching for answers about the lost necropolis and Nefertiti, and wondering whether she would ever find love.

She never expected to find it here…Ramose.

It was so easy to get lost in Maggie’s world of ancient Egypt. I love what Kathryn Meyer Griffith did with the storyline and I was surprised at the ending. I never saw it coming and that is always a wonderful thing. Not so easy to surprise a prolific reader like me.

What would you sacrifice everything for the love of your life? Could she… Would she…be the one to change history? I lover her courage, determination and willingness to sacrifice it all.

I almost felt the dry breeze and the sand from the storm trying to peel the skin from my bones, the terror and abuse the citizens suffered at the hands of one so greedy and evil that he would stop at nothing to have what he desired.

Kathryn Meyer Griffith has a way of bringing her worlds and characters to life through words. The romance will cross the boundaries of time and I don’t think the ending is one you would anticipate. So…come on…travel to Egypt with us and learn its untold secrets.

MY REVIEW FOR WITCHES I

A curse, reincarnation, familiars, a battle between good and evil, Witches by Kathryn Meyer Griffith is loaded with many witch things that tease and titillate your paranormal and supernatural desires.

I have been watching Charmed (a TV series) reruns for a long time now, so it is easy to visualize all the going on, from familiars to scrying to all the powers needed for the battle coming Amanda’s way.

Amanda is a good witch and a good person, lonely since the death of her husband. She has her family and some friends in her isolated surroundings and she will need them. The selfless love she spreads and gives to others freely, asking for nothing in return makes me feel she deserves only the best.

The familiars are faithful companions and can be amusing at time. I couldn’t help but laugh at Tibby, a mouse familiar. I can see him throwing his little paws in the air in frustration.

Murders.

It will be Amanda and her familiar, Amadeus, against the diabolical cult that is killing the residents of Canaan. She is a bit naive, unwilling to believe the danger that stalks her and I want to be with her, fighting at her side, making things right for her.

The witch hunt puts a target on her back and it is worse than she thought. The battle between good and evil will take all she has to survive.

The sense of evil and foreboding of what is to come was present from the opening pages. The grisly murders, the impromptu storms, and the death and destruction run rampant in Canaan.

I didn’t see the direction Kathryn would take for this unusual witch’s tale and the world I would be in. Her vivid descriptions and detailed, complex characters make me love and hate them…but Amanda…

The terrible things Kathryn puts her through come alive on the pages. She is not afraid to make her characters suffer, sometimes killing them off, making me love her writing, because I have to stay on my toes and be ready for the surprises she will spring on me.

The writing is outstanding, but I am not surprised by Kathryn’s ability to bring this magical world to life, making me devour the words, unable to stop, wanting to know…

Kathryn Meyer Griffith takes WITCHES to a whole new level, keeping the suspense rising, the pacing constant. I am anxious, curious, surprised, amazed, fearful, terrified as read of Amanda and those around her as demons and black magic rise and good magic fights back.

MY REVIEW FOR WITCHES II

I do not want to spoil the fun, though I took a lot of notes, I discarded most of them.

I loved Amanda’s belief that trees could tell the past…and sometimes the future. Amanda is a white witch and a Guardian. When she talks of poofing in and out, it made me think of Charmed, the TV show, and orbing. Because I became familiar to the supernatural world through Charmed and Supernatural, it enabled me to visualize so much of the story almost making it seem real.

The characters have one foot in the real world and the other in the supernatural world. Talk about having a tough life.

A feeling of something terrible coming and not all my friends will make it out alive hovers over the pages. Kathryn makes me fall in love with her characters…then she kills them off, so be forewarned.

“You look like a black smurf.” Amanda tells her sister, Rebecca, who is dressed all in black.

“And you, Amanda darling, look like the good witch Glinda from the Wizard of Oz in that cream colored outfit.” They chitchat as they get ready for ‘the party.’

The last time she’d followed her sister into a crowd of witches, she’d ended up drinking a little too much and flying races on fake broomsticks. I can picture it with the great writing that takes me to that special place I love to dwell.

Kathryn Meyer Griffith has a way with words, bringing her characters and their world to life in vivid detail. WOW! Loaded with action, suspense, creativity, world building, and character development that had me eating it up.

It may be possible for Witches II to stand alone, but I would definitely recommend starting at the beginning. The story is told, but could there be a Witches III?
