Reading Update: 20%
Kiss Me at Christmas - Valerie Bowman

She needed to set this to rights. “When we met last summer, I felt we had a connection, and I think you did, too.”
He arched a brow. “That, my lady, is a dangerous statement, and I make a habit of not commenting on dangerous statements.”

A lovely, sweet romance
The Kiss Quotient - Helen Hoang

I have to admit that while I very much wanted to read about a female protagonist who has Asperger’s, the cover kept putting me off. I’m delighted that I got past that because this romance was a delight. And incredibly sexy.

If you’ve followed this blog for a long time, you know how much I love Korean Dramas. It’s awesome how our half-Vietnamese male lead, Michael is compared looks-wise to Daniel Henney who was in one of my favourite KDramas, The Lovely Sam Soon. Michael is also just a great guy with a big heart and a lot of baggage. No alphaholeness here whatsoever.

The Kiss Quotient is a reverse Pretty Woman story and because Hoang has done such an excellent job in crafting her characters, the premise works. This is an #ownvoices book, but it is never preachy. I was rooting for Stella the entire time. It was a joy to be in her head and watch her blossom under the attention of a man who was worthy of her.

I’m going to leave it at that because I want you to just fall into this romance the way I did.

lots of echoes
The Kiss Quotient - Helen Hoang

This so sounded familiar.  I get the wanting things to be organised logically and trying to come up with strategies to cope with the world, Oh boy do I.

I can see the logic of deciding that if you're not good at something, like dating, to experiment with it and test how it should work, and how numbers are so interesting.

Stella wants to settle down and marry, it's the next step for her life, not least according to her mother.  She decides to hire someone to help. Into her life comes Michael who uses his good looks and charm to make sure his mother is getting the medical help she needs.  Michael has rules about not getting involved with clients but he finds Stella compelling.  He understands her and wants her to have a fulfilling life, but he's not sure he's enough for her.  Meanwhile Stella is getting used to wanting to have someone else in her life, she cares for Michael and it's somewhat confusing her.

I liked it, liked the characters and the fact that they all had their own agency, I did want to punch her co-worker.

A Wallflower's Christmas Kiss (Connected by a Kiss #3) by Dawn Brower
A Wallflower's Christmas Kiss - Dawn Brower

A Wallflower's Christmas Kiss is the type of story you will want to read again and again. Brower has created characters that work their way under the skin and into the heart.. Desperation reignites a friendship that was almost forgotten and along the way awakens the heart to something magical.
