i had another hissy fit!!
Laws of Attraction (The Manx Cat Guardians #6) - JP Sayle
Independent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian, I was gifted my copy of this book. This is book 6 in the Manx Cat Guardians series, and you really SHOULD read the other books first. There is MUCH referenced to, but not fully explained, from those books, and you will need to know what’s happened before now. And, you know, I TOLD you to! Nick has had an attraction to his brother’s best friend, Brody, since he was a child. Now, on the Isle of Man, working on Aaden and Greg’s new kitchen, with Brody in close proximity, Nick can no longer hide his feelings. Brody’s reaction to Nick at Christmas has him questioning everything he ever thought about the squirt. When a certain witchy-poo's involvement in both men’s feelings come to light, and that spell is lifted, Brody is confused about some things, but he knows this: Nick is HIS. They just need to get to the bottom of Brody’s true feelings, what Nick thinks happened all that time ago, and just how deep that witch went with her spell. So, yes, book 6, but I’ve been awaiting this one since we met Nick and Brody in book 4, Searching For A Soul to Love. Nick is Aaden’s younger brother and Brody his best friend. There were some hints to this book in that one, and a development in 12 Disasters of Christmas and this one does not disappoint! Well, it DOES, just a tad, and I’m being petty, I know but these books tend to bring out my darkest thoughts, and also the most extreme! I wanted Nick and Brody to get together FAR sooner in this book! They do get together, I just had to wait til nearly the end for the main event! Oh don’t get me wrong, its sexy, and steamy and hawt as hell in places, but for the final joining of their souls and bodies? FAR too long I had to wait! And this is why I can’t stretch to 5 stars! Everyone has a say, EVERYONE! Brody and Nick, mostly, but some of the other guys get a few minutes too. We also get a lot of that witchy-poo, Christina, and how she spelled Brody and Nick all that time ago, and WHY she did it. And now she’s paying the price for that: but she was warned! She is working off her penance, helping to find out who is trying to sabotage Greg at work and she wants her magic back. She does NOT like feeling human! Some amusing moments, though, for Christina and her body without magic. King Manannan has a say, and we get how he feels about said witch. Which was totally unexpected! I did not see that coming! There are a lot of HINTS about what Christina is to the King, and about something that her father did to her as a child, but these are not fully explained and I wanted to know! Again, the extremes these books drag out of me! I was like, JUST BLOODY TELL ME!! And Ms Sayle, in true fashion, does not tell me, and so again, I spat me dummy out and threw my toys out the pram and everything, A-BLOODY-GAIN! And we meet Ellie, and Cam, who are the stars of the next book. And even though THEY didn’t meet each other, I have a feeling their book will be quite explosive. So, write quicker, please! Because I had to wait so bloody long for the main event, and because my questions about the King and Christina are NOT answered (but I think HERE, everyone will be asking questions about those two!) I can only stretch to.. ..a hot and steamy 4 stars **same worded review will appear elsewhere**

TOUR & REVIEW - Laws of Attraction (The Manx Cat Guardians #6) by J.P. Sayle
Laws of Attraction (The Manx Cat Guardians #6) - JP Sayle

Nick Riley, on the surface has it all. He’s grown up in a loving family, owns his own home, and has a job he loves. Yet under that façade of a happy life, Nick hides a multitude of secrets and lies. Those same secrets and lies have forced him to build walls to protect himself and kept others away.

Nick’s life is unraveling, and his walls are tumbling when his brother invites him for a visit to the Isle of Man. Nick is left floundering, unsure which way to turn and who to trust when his past decides to come knocking. Things go from bad to worse when Nick finds the fates haven’t finished with him, and his brother’s best friend, Brody Quilliam, comes to stay.

Brody Quilliam needs a break from his life and the weight of responsibility of his job. So when his best friend, Aaden Riley, moves to the Isle of Man and asks him to visit, Brody decides to take him up on the offer. Only things don’t go as planned when he finds Aaden’s younger brother, Nick, visiting at the same time.

Their love-hate relationship is only the beginning of Brody’s concerns. Events he can’t explain make him think he’s stuck in the twilight zone.

Witches, spells, and misconceptions are only the tip of the iceberg as Brody struggles to come to terms with the unbelievable.

Warning:  Some of the content of this book is sexually graphic, with the use of explicit language and adult situations involving two males. It is only intended for mature adults.

This is the sixth book in the series and should be read in order to give the reader the back story of the other characters. The main characters in this book do get a HEA, but there is a storyline threading through the main story that is a cliffhanger and relates to a future series.

@debbiereadsbook, @JPSayle69, #M_M, #Paranormal, #Romance, #Erotic, 4 out of 5 (very good)

ARC REVIEW Illegally Yours by Kate Meader

Illegally Yours (Laws of Attraction, #2) Laws of Attraction #2, Another good read from Kate Meader. The mischievous Brit, Lucas Wright, meets his match with whiskey sommelier, Trinity Jones. (I love that she was named for Trinity from The Matrix, my daughter was almost Trinity for the same reason) Told in the alternating first person POV you get an interesting look at both their worlds as they collide.

Lust at first sight and Lucas' smart mouth doesn't help matters in showing off although she seems immune to his charm. Trinity is use to his type but is impressed when he actually sticks around afterwards to apologize for his behaviour. Trinity should know better but she actually likes the guy, even after she finds out he's representing her horrible brother-in-law she keeps running into him and he keeps proving he's a better man than she thinks. For one he coaches her nephew's soccer team, he's more than willing to step up and help out when she gets sick and when the chips are down he's willing to do the right thing. But unfortunately the biggest obstacle isn't the fact that he's her brother-in-law's lawyer.

Both Trinity and Lucas have baggage they need to deal with, Trinity is way over protective of her sister always putting her sister first even it if meant hurting herself. Lucas has a past he doesn't talk about, the people closest to him know of his twin sister and her situation but he doesn't talk about his mom or his childhood. Trinity is one of the few who know the guilt he carries. The chemistry between the two of them is undeniable and strong. As much as they tried to keep it under control and not cross the ethical line Lucas received some sage advice from a friend that had him throw caution to the wind. Their relationship is pretty steamy and Lucas is capable of doing some pretty sweet gestures.

Overall, it was a good read. It caught me off guard the age difference but Lucas, when he's not being a jokester, is very mature for his age and is far more intelligent for his year. This was a nice heartfelt romance with plenty of humor to keep it from being to somber. Can't wait for the next one.

Laws of Attraction
Laws of Attraction - Sarah Title Laws of Attraction - Sarah Title Is a 1.5 harsh? Perhaps.

What's really too bad is I feel I've read two middle of the road books from her and there's potential to have a breakout, stand apart book for me. Apparently, the opposite also holds.

This book did nothing for me. And I'm not convinced it was even well written. It felt like a bunch of scenes slapped together with no arc. Let me explain (and don't read further if you, like, care to find out for yourself):

Girl has sworn to BF that it's time for one night stands and no more nice boring guys. And no lawyers!
Boy walks into a bar to meet some old college friends. They have lame nicknames. Guy has beard and is wearing flannel, thus the ultimate conclusion is lumberjack. They click, woohoo! And he seems like a good candidate for a drunken sex-fest. So she accompanies him back to his posh apartment (he's subletting) evades some questions about his profession (why? Because he's a lawyer and all the ladies come round for lawyers and he doesn't want to be wanted for that ya know?), and the p-in-v is rushed and occurs on page...11.
Can you guess what happened then? There's a hotshot.... genius (they mentioned a few times) lawyer starting. But oh no. It's mister one night stand. He's shaved so he's a bit difficult to recognize. And now he's a lawyer and a genius, which are two no-nos. Her family is made up of geniuses, see, and she's not close with her family. And they don't respect her profession as a law librarian. Anyway, he seems a thorough lawyer, and he is new so he asks her questions. Her responses to these questions, are, well, bitchy. Even if you have told associates that, if he's asking you a question...I mean..do you get to give him the brush off? (This was after he attempted to ask her on a date-but no. Because genius lawyer. It's also why she doesn't like him. Makes sense.) I didn't interpret this as him seeking her out-just trying to keep it professional.

Here's the thing. I have no sense of the main characters. I have a better sense of secondary characters and then the story attempted to build on that. It..didn't work.

More plot points...Then she catches him singing horribly late in the library. Without protection, after being a utter bitch to him, yet still attracted to him, he goes down on her and gives her 3 orgasms.

Then he asks her to Thanksgiving. To fend off his mom who is forever setting him up with women. He said this is cause he's a catch...and she scoffs. At this point, I think, yeah, he seems annoying to work with but he's not a bad guy--is he? But she goes, they get snowed in. Or was it rain? I was so bored I think my eyes were just moving across the page. They have some pot brownies to relax and he brushes her hair back and she makes her move. And they do it. And then decide to be dating. YAY!

But he's got work to do. There's a conflict of interest but only kind of but they take a break (she offered he accepted) for appearances...some shit goes down with his sister. there's a dog. Her sister and the hero have a nice heart to heart and when his sister asks what he likes about Becky (the heroine's name, I almost forgot) he says a whole bunch of stuff that the author didn't show the work for in the book and he realizes he loves her. Grand gesture. Love confession. The End. Oh, there's another dog.

Didn't like this couple. Didn't like the story. Didn't like the heroine, didn't like the hero.

It was short though.

The Law of Attraction & Other Universal Laws Explained: A Practical Guide to Utilizing These Natural Laws (Law of Attraction Discovery)
The Law of Attraction & Other Universal ... The Law of Attraction & Other Universal Laws Explained: A Practical Guide to Utilizing These Natural Laws (Law of Attraction Discovery) - Christine Sherborne So far one of the best law of attraction book I have come by. It tells much more than the usual like attracts like and you attract what you think and feel. In this book many universal laws are discussed. I guess it could be life changing for people who actually implement them on daily basis in their lives.
