Jason was sixteen and Jason had found his mother who had been murdered by his father, John;s daughter -Juliette was with John, Mariana, and Jason. Jason and Juliette were in the first stages of love. Mariana was now secretly in love with John. Jason hadn’t even known Dornan until a few months ago. John also loves Mariana and wants to run away but Mariana won’t leave Jason behind. Mariana had been Dornan’s lover for ten years. Dornan had stopped his father from selling Mariana as a sex slave. John had been Dornan’s best friend for about twenty years. Normally Mariana would be working at making sure Emilio”s hefty cartel profits were funneled into all the right places. But it was Emilio”s birthday with a big family celebration. Jason wasn’t taken as Dornan was sure how Jason would react around the people who murdered his mother. Mariana was sleeping with two men - one she loved and one she was terrified of. Mariana had once loved Dornan but now she hated him. Mariana knew she had to leave or she would be dead. Dornan had killed Stephanie- Jason’s mom- because she had run away from him but was also pregnant by Dornan. When Mariana questioned Dornan about Stephanie and had kept asking and the disbelief that Dornan could do that, he beat Mariana and she had miscarried their child she had not told Dornan about yet. Mariana had to deal with the fact the man she once loved no longer existed. I am not sure how I feel about this final installment for this series . But i do now I cried in places while reading this story. I was sad that John never received the happiness he deserved. I did really like how Mariana found a way to play Marcus and Emilio. There was a lot in this story: love turned to hatred, more bloodshed, rape, corruption, murder, family, corruption, drama, plan for freedom. lies, federal involvement, betrayal and pain, and so much more. Maybe again a little too dark for me but I am sure there is people who will love this I was just tore. I did like the plot a lot, I liked the characters also and most of the ins and outs just not one of my favorite stories. However I still felt this was also a cliffhanger and didn’t like that even though there is The Gypsy Brothers MC series but I don’t plan on reading that. I would give this a 3.5 if i could. I don’t plan on reading anymore dark stories if i Can help it at least not this dark.

Mariana is dressed in smart business clothes five days a week. She was an accountant well technically a book keeper as she had to quit college before she actually got a degree. Her office was in the back of a strip club Mariana spoke to no one as she worked then Mariana was driven home straight after work to the home Dornan had picked out for her. Dornan was rough and dominate but he made Mariana feel safe and Dornan was her shelter. Mariana became addicted to Dornan and stayed that way for nine years. Nothing about Mariana’s life was normal. Mariana had a keeper when Dornan wasn’t around - a roommate of sorts. Mariana was a slave. Mariana laundered money for Emilio and felt she had paid her father’s debt but Emilio didn’t feel that way he felt he owned Mariana. Mariana had a son when she was a teenager -Luis -but her father took the baby as soon as he was born and forged adoption papers. Mariana’s boyfriend -her child’s father was Esteban had been murdered right before Mariana’s eyes. Dornan had saved Mariana from being sold into sexual slavery. Mariana still loved Dornan even though he was a combination of brutality and tenderness. Dornan also loved Mariana. John was Dornan’s best friend and president of the Gypsy Brothers MC. Mariana and John shared an office but John was seldom there. Mariana had learned a lot in the six months she had been in the office at the back of the Va Va Va Voom strip club which is how she laundered illegal money the MC got. Mariana learned John was kind, and thoughtful and loved his daughter and liked to surf. Mariana was very careful of her past and how she interacted with people. Six lives depended on Mariana: her dad, her mother,her sister, her brother, Luis and herself. John told Mariana if she ever wanted to leave to let him know and he would help her and hide her but Mariana knows she can’t leave. Mariana spends most of her time alone.Mariana only receives once a week visits from Dornan. When Mariana is in a very bad place she calls Dornan but is reminded of her place behind Dornan’s wife, family, and business. Then she calls John. Again mixed emotions on this story but I did like it better than the last. At least Mariana was shown some kindness by John. Also I wasn’t as shocked by Mariana’s story. I felt bad to see Dornan’s humanity dry up from what he seen and did. The only thing Mariana really had in her life has gone bad. John is attracted to Mariana after being faithful to his drug addicted wife for so long. Mariana now has a full time bodyguard named Guillerno who has become more like a brother. Mariana’s skills are quite useful to the Cartel. Murphy starts to blackmail Mariana but she then handles it herself. Again with the mixed feelings but I did like this story better than the first one. Dare say even enjoyed it more. But I no longer really liked Dornan as he had lost most of his humanity. I did really like John but I fear for his kind heart and where it will lead him. Especially the position he holds in the MC. I felt even worse for Mariana as Dornan changes into even worse of a monster for her. But a t least now Mariana has a couple of people in her life now. I liked how Murphy could only push Mariana so far then she tole care of things herself. But was disappointed to see the ending was a cliffhanger as I hate them.. So for some reason I feel the need to read the last story and I already have it so that helps. So even though this series is dark it help my attention for the most part even if i just skimmed some of the worst parts. I recommend.

Emilio is a kingpin in a drug Cartel. Mariana is nineteen and volunteers herself to pay her father’s debt or her family will be killed. Mariana is sent to San Diego to the Gypsy Brothers MC. The V P of the MC is Emilio’s son Dornan and he is to use her until Mariana is sold as a sex slave. Dornan is known to be cruel yet he lets Mariana know how things work in his world. As time goes on Dornan doesn’t want Mariana sold and goes to his father about this and Dornan is allowed to keep her. Dornan is dangerous and cruel but does have a softer side that Mariana gets to see. Dornan tried to protect Mariana. I don’t hate this story but I don’t love it either. Probably a little too dark for me. But I have 2 more stories in this series to read so I will see how they go. I have to say I am very glad that Dornan had some heart left and showed it to Mariana even though he struggled with love. I think Mariana fell too quickly for Dornan but kinda works with the story as he did prevent her from being sold. This story was definitely full of twists and turns and I did Basically like that. There was a lot in this story: bad bikers, drug cartel, family, sacrifice, corrupt cops, drugs- of course- , dark secrets, violence, domination, enjoyment of pain to a degree, and so much more. Just didn’t love it but that is me.
