Abused and Shunned by Society: The Diary of a Lost Girl by Margarete Böhme
The Diary of a Lost Girl (Louise Brooks edition) - Thomas Gladysz;Margarete Bohme
Tagebuch einer Verlorenen - Margarete Böhme

This forgotten classic from Germany was a best-selling novel in 1905 and translated into many languages.

It was also widely read for nearly three decades – until the story of a fallen girl from a bourgeois family who sees no other way to survive but prostitution was pushed into the abyss of oblivion because it didn’t fit into the ideal and virtuous image of Germans that Nazi propaganda created. Mute films made of it had the same fate although the 1929 film of G. W. Pabst starring Louise Brooks is much appreciated by enthusiasts like the editor of the again available English edition of the book.

Lost Moon: A Girl on the Moon Story
Lost Moon: A Girl on the Moon Story - Ja... Lost Moon: A Girl on the Moon Story - Jack McDonald Burnett You've got to be kidding me. I just used my free book of the month for this and the story was, at best, about 10 pages long. It took me a whole 5 minutes to read. I was just saying too how Girl on the Moon was loaded with material, if that's how this book was, it wouldn't be so bad but it wasn't like that at all- essentially nothing happened. I feel cheated lol- What a rip off!

THE OLD BALMAIN HOUSE by Graham Wilson
The Old Balmain House - Graham Wilson

The Old Balmain House

Second Edition, Smashwords Edition

Graham Wilson

Copyright Graham Wilson 2016

Published by BeyondBeyond Books

ISBN 9780987197115

(Also goes by Little Lost Girl (Old Balmain House #1) (Paperback) (isbn 154126284; Little Lost Girl (Old Balmain House #1) (paperback) (isbn 1542624347; The Old Balmain House (Old Balmain house #1) (isbn 1542755166)

I received this off Smashwords. It's taken me a while to get back to it. I set it aside, and then decided, once I started up again with The Old Balmain House. I couldn't put it down. The descriptions of the houses, the towns, and the people around the main characters help make the story of Sophie and her bottle a wonderful story.

Lost Girl
Lost Girl - Katie Crabapple The characters that Katie Crabapple have created in this series are amazing. They are flawed and real in a way that a lot of other authors cannot capture. Reading about a character in the old west who suffers from a germ phobia or crippling social anxiety was a revelation to me as it's difficult to even find contemporary romance books that address those issues.

Not that ghostly....
Lost Boy Lost Girl - Peter Straub

When a single tree fills your lens, the rest of the forest takes on a degree of abstraction.

- Chapter 15

This book was just ok. The ghost story was a bit weak and not that scary. In the first sentence, we find out that Mark's mother is dead. She killed herself, apparently over guilt for not helping someone when she could have. But, how could she? I mean, she left her son alone to face the ghosts she knew existed. I know it happnes, but I just don't get it. And Mark's father was just annoying; he didn't seem to care about his son at all.

The story is told through third person and occasional journal entries written by Mark's uncle Tim. It was a bit creepy and suspenseful, but nothing special. It ended so quickly that I didn't even realize it was the end of the book. I don't mind endings that leave you guessing, but this one just seemed rushed. It was like the author didn't know what else to write, so he just ended it.

I read this book for the Booklikes-opoly New Orleans 19 square - Ghost Story. The book is 340 pages, so it's worth $3.00.
