Title: Mandie and the Mysterious Fisherman
Author: Lois Gladys Leppard
Series: Mandie, 19
Format: ebook, bind-up
Length: N/A
Rating: 3 stars

Synopsis: Traveling through Europe in the summer of 1901, Mandie and her group arrive in Antwerp, Belgium, where they plan to visit art museums as well as do sightseeing around the beautiful city. Mrs. Taft has made it clear that there are to be no more adventures like, Mandie, Celia and Jonathan have gotten involved with in France, Italy, Switzerland, and Germany.
But what are Mandie and her friends to do when adventure discovers them? Who would believe that a seemingly abandoned fishing boat has strange sounds coming from inside? Until they find out more, should they tell Mrs. Taft?
And what is the link between the boat and the suspicious man they think has stolen the priceless painting from the art museum?
Who is the bearded giant?

Favourite character: Jonathan
Least favourite character: Mandie

Mini-review: What to say about this book. Basically there's no mystery, really only in the kids imaginations. The only real mystery is that the Strange Woman shows up and at this point she's really starting to annoy me, mainly because I haven't finish the Europe trip arc and so I have no idea who or what she is.

Fan Cast:
Amanda "Mandie" Shaw - Emma Rayne Lyle
Celia Hamilton - Sadie Sink
Jonathan Lindall Guyer III - Louis Hynes
Grandmother Taft - Meryl Streep
Senator Morton - Donald Sutherland
Strange Woman - Linda Hunt
Alex - Ciaran Hinds
Minister - Burn Gorman

Review: Mandie and the Jumping Juniper by Lois Gladys Leppard
Mandie and the Jumping Juniper - Lois Gladys Leppard

Title: Mandie and the Jumping Juniper
Author: Lois Gladys Leppard
Series: Mandie, 18
Format: ebook, bind-up
Length: N/A
Rating: 3 stars

Synopsis: When Mandie and Celia left the United States to spend the summer traveling with Mrs. Taft through Europe, they didn't expect that each new place they visited would have a mystery and adventure all its own. But since boarding the Queen Victoria, it's been one episode after another.
Traveling from Switzerland to Germany with Jonathan, Uncle Ned, and Senator Morton, they arrive at the medieval stone castle of Baroness Geissler. None of them know much about the castle, but with its many turrets, long narrow slits for windows, a drawbridge and moat, it's not a surprise when they discover there's a mystery surrounding it. A very old juniper tree that's located on the property is said to "jump" sometimes, and no one knows why.
What is the secret of the jumping tree? And why is the baroness's grandson so rude and unlikeable?
Will Snowball help them solve the mystery?

Favourite character: Jonathan
Least favourite character: Mandie

Mini-review: Reading this book I realized how incredibly racist this series is. That's a rant for another time (probably once I finish the series and can jot down some examples). As I'm sure you can tell, I wasn't impressed with this book. It felt more scandalous than past Mandie books. Glad Jonathan seems to be able to talk some sense into Mandie. But they probably should've reported Rupert.

Fan Cast:

Amanda "Mandie" Shaw - Emma Rayne Lyle

Celia Hamilton - Sadie Sink

Jonathan Lindall Guyer III - Louis Hynes

Grandmother Taft - Meryl Streep

Senator Morton - Donald Sutherland

Uncle Ned Sweetwater - Zahn McClarnon

Rupert Geissler - Kodi Smit-McPhee

Review: Mandie and the Singing Chalet by Lois Gladys Leppard
Mandie and the Singing Chalet - Lois Gladys Leppard

Title: Mandie and the Singing Chalet
Author: Lois Gladys Leppard
Series: Mandie, 17
Format: ebook, bind-up
Length: N/A
Rating: 3 stars

Synopsis: When Mandie, Celia, Jonathan, Mrs. Taft, Senator Morton and Uncle Ned leave Italy, they know that the house they are traveling to in Switzerland is surrounded with mystery. The very ancient, very large chalet they will stay at has unusual things going on that no one has been able to figure out.
Could the rumors and tales surrounding the chalet possibly be true? What about the singing that is heard late at night, but in unintelligible words?
Strange as well are the servants and some of the other quests at the chalet. What's really going on here?
A fine setting for Mandie and her friends to work on another mystery!

Favourite character: Jonathan
Least favourite character: Mandie

Mini-review: This was alright. Mandie and the gang are at a chalet in Switzerland where they hear mysterious singing at night. So Mandie and her friends go behind her Grandmother's back (big surprise) to solve the mystery. Not to mention Uncle Ned, who for some reason knows people in Europe.

Fan Cast:

Amanda "Mandie" Shaw - Emma Rayne Lyle

Celia Hamilton - Sadie Sink

Jonathan Lindall Guyer III - Louis Hynes

Grandmother Taft - Meryl Streep

Senator Morton - Donald Sutherland

Uncle Ned Sweetwater - Zahn McClarnon

Review: Mandie and the Silent Catacombs by Lois Gladys Leppard
Mandie and the Silent Catacombs (Mandie, Book 16) - Lois Gladys Leppard

Title: Mandie and the Silent Catacombs
Author: Lois Gladys Leppard
Series: Mandie, 16
Format: ebook, bind-up
Length: N/A
Rating: 3 stars

Synopsis: Mandie, Celia, Mrs. Taft, Senator Morton and Jonathan leave the problems of Paris behind them as they board an express train whose destination is Rome, Italy. Mandie and Celia are excited about seeing the Colosseum, the Sistine Chapel, the Forum, the Pantheon, and the hundreds of fountains in Italy. They've nearly forgotten the vanishing woman who has followed them wherever they've gone. Without warning she reappears!
Mandie determines she'll find out who the woman is of it's the last thing she does in Europe. But the fact remains that the woman may be dangerous. And when their sightseeing time in the Catacombs turns into a near nightmare with an accompanying burglary, their time in Rome promises more surprises than even Mandie can handle!
The Catacombs are no place for Mandie and her friends on their own!

Favourite character: Jonathan
Least favourite character: Mandie & Celia

Mini-review: It's a rare (really rare) that Celia falls under the least favourite category, but this time around she really got on my nerves, with her Mandie hero-worship. Honestly, she's starting to remind me of Enid from Sweet Valley High.

The plot was okay, but there weren't enough language barriers to make it believable, seeing as they were always able to get their point across.

Fan Cast:

Amanda "Mandie" Shaw - Emma Rayne Lyle

Celia Hamilton - Sadie Sink

Jonathan Lindall Guyer III - Louis Hynes

Grandmother Taft - Meryl Streep

Senator Morton - Donald Sutherland

Uncle Ned Sweetwater - Zahn McClarnon

George Rushton - William Moseley

John Swagglehorn - Martin Clunes

Strange Woman - Linda Hunt

Rupert Geissler - Kodi Smith-McPhee

Review: Mandie and the Foreign Spies by Lois Gladys Leppard
Mandie and the Foreign Spies - Lois Gladys Leppard

Title: Mandie and the Foreign Spies
Author: Lois Gladys Leppard
Series: Mandie, 15
Format: ebook, bind-up
Length: N/A
Rating: 3 stars

Synopsis: Mandie, Celia, Mrs. Taft and Senator Morton arrive safely in London and take Jonathan, the young stowaway from Mandie and the Shipboard Mystery, along with them.
A telegram from an unknown source is waiting for Mandie and an unexplained message has been left at their hotel. Who is so interested in what Mandie is doing? And why don't they sign their names? Is this a new adventure-or danger?
When they decide to deliver Jonathan to his aunt in Paris, adventure begins. But what at first seemed like a simple mystery turns into a dangerous trap and an encounter with the disappearing stranger.
Mandie's in Paris and so are the spies!

Favourite character: Jonathan
Least favourite character: Mandie

Mini-review: I did not like this. It almost felt like the author didn't write it. There were mistakes and borderline racist stereotypes (Mandie can track because of her Cherokee blood, when in reality it's a taught skill not a natural born gift). Jonathan, who can speak French and went to boarding school in England, can't tell if three girls are English speakers or French speakers based on their accents. Also it's very unrealistic that two thirteen year old girls would foil the plot of spies. Also Uncle Ned shows up in France.

Fan Cast:

Amanda "Mandie" Shaw - Emma Rayne Lyle

Celia Hamilton - Sadie Sink

Jonathan Lindall Guyer III - Louis Hynes

Grandmother Taft - Meryl Streep

Senator Morton - Donald Sutherland

Strange Woman - Linda Hunt

Mary Covington - Mimi Keene

Maude Covington - Esme Creed-Miles

Martha Covington - Pixie Davies
