RELEASE BLITZ & #GIVEAWAY - Lost In Time by A.L. Lester
Lost In Time - A.L. Lester

Lew’s life is pleasantly boring until his friend Mira messes with magic she doesn't understand. While searching for her, he is pulled back in time to 1919 by a catastrophic magical accident. As he tries to navigate a strange time and find his friend in the smoky music clubs of Soho, the last thing he needs is D etective Alec Carter suspecting him of murder.

London in 1919 is cold, wet, and tired from four years of war. Alec is back in the Metropolitan Police after slogging out his army service on the Western Front. Falling for a suspect in a gruesome murder case is not on his agenda, however attractive he finds the other man.

They are both floundering and out of their depth, struggling to come to terms with feelings they didn’t ask for and didn’t expect. Both have secrets that could get them arrested or killed. In the middle of a murder investigation that involves wild magic, mysterious creatures, and illegal sexual desire, who is safe to trust?

Book Review of Lost Time (Between Two Evils Book 2) by D. L. Orton
Lost Time (Between Two Evils) (Volume 2) - Micah McDonald,D. L. Orton

If someone took everything you live for, how far would you go to get it back?

When a faulty time machine deposits Diego in a towering evergreen, he knows he's in the wrong place—but has no idea he's in the wrong time. Naked and shivering in the chilly mountain air, he attempts to climb down, but slips, whacks his head on a branch, and falls into oblivion.

He wakes up inside a darkened room, crippled and disheartened, and must come to grips with the realization that he is marooned in a bleak alternate future. In this universe, what remains of the human race is trapped inside a handful of aging biodomes. With his mission failed, his world destroyed, and the one woman he loves, dead, he can find no reason to go on living.

But Lani, the emotionally scarred doctor who finds him, refuses to let him die, and as Diego heals, their relationship becomes... complicated. He struggles to let go of the past but is unable to get Isabel out of his head—or his heart. Just when it seems he may be able to find some measure of happiness in a world teetering on the edge of extinction...

Another note arrives from the future: Isabel is alive—but not for long…

Review 4*

This is the second book in the Between Two Evils series. I enjoyed this book more than the first one.

Diego is a fantastic character. I really liked him. He is kind and loving. There is a lot of cheesy/pun-y dialogue by him that had me rolling my eyes at times, but its all part of his charm. When the time machine (from book 1) malfunctions, he finds himself trapped eighteen years in the future. This future/parallel world has been devastated by a terrible event and the survivors are living in biodomes created by David Kirk (who is known as Dave Kirkland where Diego originally comes from). Will Diego find a way to get home to Isabel, or will he be trapped in this alternate universe forever?

This story is a lot less complicated than the first book and is based purely in the alternate world where Diego finds himself. The story is told mostly through the eyes of Diego, though other characters have their say too, mostly Lani, the unofficial doctor in the biodome (called affectionately the Bub by its inhabitants) and her seventeen year old daughter Shannon. These two characters play a major role in this story and I liked them both. A lot. They have a warmth about them that made them come alive, not to mention they are both stubborn and opinionated. There are also other characters that are introduced and give the story an interesting twist. One of them is Madders, a pilot who is a father figure to Shannon and encourages her to follow her dream of being an engineer. He doesn't actually make an appearance until late into the story but he too has a major role in this tale.

This book is action packed and took me on a wild roller coaster ride of emotion. There is even a hint of romance, and I found myself hoping that Diego and Lani would get together. However, his heart still belongs to Isabel. Diego struggles with his new reality and is determined to find a way to get home to her. I did find some of the story repetitive plot-wise to book one, which annoyed me, even though the scenes were completely different. I suppose this is the problem with time travel type stories, where the plot follows the same line even if events happen in a different way. The story does end on an exciting if somewhat heartbreaking climax and it left me in tears. Although not exactly a cliffhanger, it definitely made me eager to find out what happens next. I am now looking forward to reading the third book, Dead Time, as soon as possible.

DL Orton has written an intriguing time travel romance. I enjoyed her writing style, which is not as fast paced as some other authors I've read but it still had me turning the pages. The flow of the story is a lot smoother than the first book and this made it a more pleasurable read. I would definitely read more of her books in the future.

There are no scenes of an explicit nature, although there is mention of sexual activity. Having said that, I do not recommend this book to younger readers (under 16) due to the nature of the story. However, I do recommend this book if you love dystopian or time travel romances. - Lynn Worton

Lost In Time
Lost In Time - A.L. Lester A magical ceremony gone wrong throws Lewis (Lew) Tyler through time from 2016 to 1919. Fortunately for him he is taken in and is offered a job as a photographer at a new news print, Pictorial Examiner. He takes on the job because he wants to keep an eye out for the creature he knows followed him through the vortex and to look for Mira, his sister.

Alastair Carter has return to small town to work in the police department after taking part in the war for the last 4 years. on one of his call outs to a hospital that has their patients dying off too quickly. Alastair encounters a creature that he mistakes for a vagrant before he's knocked out. Other precarious cases pop up.

When Lew is on a crime scene and seems to know something and lies about why he’s bothered by a scene he’s photographing. Alastair immediately jumps on it like a dog with a bone.
It took me a while to get into the book. When I started off I wasn’t enjoying it as much as I thought I would. That being said when it did pick up, it did so quickly but still managed to build the story up at a nice pace.

Alistair (Alec) was a good detective and I liked that his intuition served him well in pursuing the clues where they should lead him. His behavior in regards to Lew was a bit too violent and I wish he had just scared him without hurting him when he first decided to question him. I give him major props for figuring out something more was happening though. Lew for keeping mum about what was behind the murders when he fell under suspicion.
I was kind of hoping for a different ending where Lew was happier and had his own place (i.e. somewhere he felt himself). Also readers were left hanging with the status of Mira. Still it turned out to be quite an exciting read. Beware that this is not a romance. The main focus is on the fantasy and mystery and predicament Lew finds himself in.

A free copy was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.

REVIEW

This is the final book in this series. I would highly suggest you being it with book one however or you will have no clue what is going on. This is a time travel book and we get ghosts from both present and past and Addie is still dealing with so many things and Blake well I am shocked this man is still standing beside her. But will he still be standing with her in the end?

This book wraps up everything very nicely since we were left with a cliffhanger in book two. They are still dealing with that pain in the butt Otto. Poor Addison her ability has just brought her such heartache and danger.

If you enjoy a little paranormal, suspense and mystery this is a great book. I enjoyed this book and I am glad how things turned out for Blake and Addison. [a:Alyssa Richards|7523813|Alyssa Richards|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1427841781p2/7523813.jpg]

Audio Book Review: Time for the Lost
Time for the Lost - Chess Desalls

*This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review, at my request.

Valcas doesn't know if he should go find Calla, but finds himself on the journey to find her. When he and Calla's family conclude she's lost, they try their hardest to find and save her. In doing so they learn secrets that the Time and Space Travel Agency wanted kept quiet. Things that could change everything as it's run now.

Jamie is new to me and new to the series. This book is from Valcas's POV so it brings in a male voice to tell the perspective. Then the story switches to Calla's POV in the last half, or Part 2 of the story. He does small changes for tones and feel of voices for different people; softer for female, scratch for older man, and proper for formal male speak.

It's been a while since I listened to the previous books. I think because of this the beginning feels larger than I'm ready for. It feels as though I'm getting a brood range of items all at once and not sure what is now and what has happened already. Valcas feels as though his mind is all over the place and makes it harder for me to narrow in on something.

Time is a tricky topic, and could be discussed in many angles for hours. The concept of time travel, daily reminders, slices of time, and much more are interesting concepts. They feel like topics I could debate and discuss with friends, based on the world created here. They would be deep and detailed discussions that would lead to more terms and ideas for the world. I really like them. There are moments I'm not 100% clear on details as we learn new aspects to the time traveling, like Chars. I first thought these were the Uproar, but figure out they are different. But, what are they or where from? What draws them to the travelers?

This book feels to spend time describing more rules and worries of the traveling. It also feels to be used to raise suspension of the TSTA (Time and Space Travel Agency). It feels slower in action as we learn about the lost and start to question why or how. We see Plaka and Calla do what they do best, heal. But the characters don't feel as personable to me in this story as they did in previous ones. Was it the narrator or the writing? I'm not sure. I didn't feel as drawn to them as I had before.

As I went through the book, it felt more and more as a transition to a new plot arc in the series, however it ends like it's the conclusion too. I liked the story and things we learned here, but at times I didn't see the connections of why things were connected or people were searching for things. Maybe if I had read the book, this way I could have re-read sections, it would sink in better. I don't know.
