Hotter
Dare Me Tonight (The Knight Brothers, #3) - Carly Phillips

This is book #3, in The Knight Brothers series.  This book can be read as a standalone novel.  For reader enjoyment, and to avoid spoilers, I recommend reading this series in order.

Ethan meets Sienna and the attraction between them is instantaneous.  She is also totally forbidden, as the sister of one his biggest clients.  How can you turn down desire that is overwhelming?

Sienna has never felt this way about anyone.  Ethan and her feeling for him are all consuming.  He wants her to be his secret.  After what her family went through that is not something she wants to sign up for.

Totally blown away at how deep and compelling these characters are.  The story goes along at a good pace, and the favorites from previous books make appearances as well.  This book is the total trifecta.  I cannot wait for the next book by this amazing author.  I give this a 5/5 Kitty's Paws UP!

REVIEW BY MERISSA - Spellbound (Magic in Manhattan #1) by Allie Therin
Spellbound (Magic in Manhattan #1) - Allie Therin

@allie_therin, #Urban#Fantasy#MM#Romance, 5 out of 5 (exceptional)

SPELLBOUND is the first book in the Magic in Manhattan series, and I seriously can't wait for book two!

Set in the 1920's, you get a front seat to all that involves--Speakeasy's, prohibition, mobsters, Germans. It's all here, and gives you an insight into what life might have been like.

Rory and Arthur make for a perfect couple! I loved Rory's sass and his spitting alley cat fight. Arthur is the big softie with an even bigger heart, who just wants to help.

With a great cast of characters, this story was gripping from the very start. The pacing is smooth, there were no plot holes I fell through, and the world building is outstanding.

With humour, sass, peril, and betrayal, this book had it all for me. Highly recommended, and when is book two coming out? Absolutely brilliant.

DNF: Manhattan Beach
Manhattan Beach: A Novel - Jennifer Egan

I received a copy from Netgalley.

This is one of those books that's out of my usual comfort reading zone but sounded really good so I thought I would give it a try. It's not that I hate it or anything, I did actually like most of what I read, the setting was interesting and so were the characters but it's been well over month since I last picked this book up and don't see myself doing so any time some. Something I may pick up again at a different time - I didn't dislike it or anything I just seem to have lost interest for the time being.

Thank you to Netgalley and Little, Brown Book Group UK for approving my request to view the title.

A different take on the scientists of the late 1940s. Interesting concept.
The Manhattan Projects, Vol. 1: Science, Bad - Jonathan Hickman,Nick Pitarra

Involving all the great scientists of the era (Einstein, Fermi, Oppenheimer etc..), this imaginative comic series takes us through the development of the atomic bomb while they also indulged in other projects. Without giving too much away, they all have foibles and unusual back stories and this leads to all sorts of trouble. It’s interesting and original while the artwork is reasonably clear. Worth a look.

Review ~ Decent read
Wicked for Hire (Paranormal in Manhattan Mystery) (Volume 1) - Lotta Smith

Book source ~ Kindle Lending Library

Amanda Meyers was kicked out of her medical program when three people died after she had seen them. With the rep of the grim reaper following her around the higher ups didn’t want her near their patients. So, she gets recruited to the FBI’s Paranormal Cases Division and partnered with Special Agent Rick Rowling. Rowling has a reputation, too. But he’s allowed to be eccentric when he’s rich and connected. So, Amanda begins her new career and goes with the weird flow because she has a mountain of student debt to repay even though she’ll never practice medicine.

This is a quirky and humorous paranormal mystery that will give a bit of light entertainment should you need it. Amanda is funny, but Rowling is just a tad annoying. However, the overall story is decent if a bit too much like a paranormal Stephanie Plum. I enjoyed it enough that I would continue on with the series.
