No Place to Run by Maya Banks
No Place to Run - Maya Banks

I really don't like a heroine, who moves the earth and the sky to get to the hero because she needs his help and then the moment she meets the hero, she decides, she doesn't need his help after all; turns into sarcastic bitch and starts lying. It's frustrating, takes away the joy of reading and makes me doubt whether the heroine has brains at all.
I was so impressed by Sophie's actions at the beginning of the book and then she changed into this "I have to get away, you can't help me, Sam" type of brainless chick. Okay, let's move on.
Actually, I liked the story quite well. It had an exciting beginning and the pace was good. I liked Sam a lot and his family is just great. I'm definitely going to read the third book as well.

Forged in Steele
Forged in Steele - Maya Banks

Steele, like Rio, was a character whose story I really wanted to read and I looked forward to it. But, like Rio's, I was disappointed. For the "Iceman" I didn't buy it. He's an asshole one moment, then incredibly sappy another. I got whiplash. What woman wants to be called an "idiot?" Really? Surly there could have been a better middle ground for Steele's sappiness.
Maren, I liked. She's got a career. She's competent. I didn't care for a certain trope. Then, let's give her a psycho admirer and get her kidnapped! And have to be rescued. *Sigh*
The final, eye-roll came towards the end. Someone is CRITICALLY injured and bleeding out, but let's check the MEDICALLY STABLE pregnant woman to make sure she is not having a miscarriage.
I was set to give this a 2. But, then, Steele was willing to put Maren and her career before his own, move anywhere she wanted, and, if needed or necessary, give up his career at KGI. While that didn't make my issues or disappointment with this book go away, if softened it a bit. So, a generous 3.
I do think I'm done with this series.

Brighter Than the Sun (A KGI Novel) - Maya Banks

This is book #11, in the fast paced KGI series.  This can be read as a standalone novel.  For reader enjoyment, and to completely understand the series and what is going on in the book, I recommend reading this 5* series in order.

Joe has heard from all the other brothers, and sometimes even his sister, that he will know the "one" when he finds her.  Well that all seems like a bunch of garbage.  Until she steps into view.  Now it is a whole new adventure.

Zoe has never had a family who loves her.  In fact her whole life has been a lot of the opposite.  With the help of her college roommate, she finds herself on the run for her life.  Having a man there who wants to cherish and protect her is so unheard of, she is not sure really how to respond.

This series always gets my heart pumping.  Each character is so unique and special.  This book has some fan favorite characters inside to make you get excited!  I absolutely cannot wait until the next installment in the series is here.  I give this story 4/5 Kitty's Paws UP!

Soul Possession
Soul Possession - Maya Banks

Jessie is a waitress at the bar that Rick and Truitt go to. Rick and Truitt have both flirted with Jessie and do so each time they see her. Both want to take her home with them, so they proposition her together, and each time she declines. Then one night, she gets falsely accused of stealing and fired. On this night, she accepts their offer. Then, the morning after, she is accused of murder and then soon after kidnapped by a serial killer terrorizing the city.
Whew! There is so much packed in this novella! I did enjoy the ride, lots of hot sex. Good, likable characters. Jessie didn't need saving and I appreciated that. I do think Jessie let Rick and Truitt off a little too easily. I think more groveling was necessary after what they did (or in this case didn't do).

Kept - Maya Banks

Oh man, I thought this was terrible. I've enjoyed a lot of Maya Banks' books. Especially her KGI series. But this one, just dumb. Boy meets girl, boy falls in love with girl on the first sight. Therefore he must own her and from there on....typical love story I guess. Just not my favorite from this author.
