A Santini Takes the Fall (The Santinis Book 9) - Melissa Schroeder

This is book #9, in The Santinis series.  This book can be read as a standalone novel.  To avoid spoilers, and have understanding of the series, I recommend reading in order.

Anthony is not happy and not sad.  He is content where he is.  He does not want to be set up by friends or family to find a relationship.  He is where he wants to be.

Lalani is also content where she is.  Having been hurt in the past, she is in no hurry to try again.  She and Anthony are honest about this when they meet.  The sparks fly anyway....

This book was full of sexy banter and delicious toe curling heat.  The sizzle was easy to feel as I read.  The family and recurring favorites were also present to make a great read.  I give this story a 4/5 Kitty's Paws UP!

Hot
The Boss - Melissa Schroeder

Vic is just sick of his job and needs some time off.  His ex needs his help.  Should he help her out of the goodness and the memories?  The chemistry between them is explosive and just seeing her again stirs it all back up.

Mac knows that being around Vic could kiss her.  Without his help she would die anyway.  She has to solve this latest case without getting them all killed.  If only she could solve this case without feeling Vic in her heart again.

This book was blessedly fast pace.  Right from the start it is heart pounding, and the case leaping off the page.  I was pleased that the characters truly belong to together.  Their story is such a sexy and intense heat with a great mystery woven in.  I eagerly turned each page.  I give this book a 4/5 Kitty's Paws UP!

About Melissa Schroeder:

From an early age, USA Today Bestselling author Melissa loved to read. First, it was the books her mother read to her including her two favorites, Winnie the Pooh and the Beatrix Potter books. She cut her preteen teeth on Trixie Belden and read and reviewed To Kill a Mockingbird in middle school. It wasn’t until she was in college that she tried to write her first stories, which were full of angst and pain, and really not that fun to read or write. After trying several different genres, she found romance in a Linda Howard book.

Since her first published book , Mel has had over 60 short stories, novellas, and novels published. She has written in genres ranging from historical to contemporary to futuristic and has worked with 8 publishers although she handles most of her publishing herself. She is best known for her Harmless and Santini series. After years of following her military husband around the country and world, Mel happily lives with her family in horse and wine country in Northern Virginia.

About Dawn Altieri:

A lifelong resident of northern New Jersey, Dawn Altieri has been scribbling stories practically since birth. After reaching a milestone birthday (she won’t say which one), she figured it was about time she took a shot at writing professionally. With an overactive imagination and a slightly twisted mind, she enjoys reading dark and dangerous tales almost as much as writing them.

When she’s not curled up on the sofa with her laptop, her latest story, a box of chocolates and a cup of tea (or a glass of wine, depending on the time of day), she can be found volunteering in the world of animal rescue. She shares her home with her husband and daughter, and a menagerie of rescued fur-babies

Seductive Reasoning (Task Force Hawaii, #1)
Seductive Reasoning (Task Force Hawaii, ... Seductive Reasoning (Task Force Hawaii, #1) - Melissa Schroeder DNF at 50%

This book was just boring the hell out of me. It's suppose to be a first book in a spin off series, but I felt like I was dropped into the middle of a series. A shit ton of characters introduced, all with backstories. Even the H/h had a backstory together that happened before the book started.

Just didn't hold my attention...

Not My Favorite From This Author
A Santini Takes the Fall (The Santinis Book 9) - Melissa Schroeder

Anthony Santini is happy with his life. He retired from the Marines and moved to Hawaii where his cousin lives. Unlike his siblings, he's happy to be single and not fall into the Santini curse. After he meets Lalani, close friend to his cousin's wife and a dancer, he behaves like a jerk to re-emphasise his lack of wanting a relationship. After running into her several times, he can't seem to get her out of his head.

This story was ok. I think my biggest problem is the timeframe for Anthony's change of heart. It was really quick and didn't really work for me. Having read this author before and loving her books, I'm thinking it's probably because of the length of the book.

Overall not a bad book. I'd recommend it to  any fans of this author and those that don't mind how quick it moves.
