REVIEW BY MERISSA - The Mercenary's Tale (In the Company of Men #1) by Lynn Lorenz
The Mercenary's Tale (In the Company of Men #1) - Lynn Lorenz

@LynnLorenz, #Historical, #MM, #Romance, #GRRC, 3 out of 5 (good)

The Mercenary's Tale is the first book in the In the Company of Men series, and it is a tale of two halves. In the first half, we have Drake and Ansel. Unfortunately, as happens in war zones, Ansel dies a tragic death, leaving Drake broken. Two years later, when he is still trying to lose himself in the bottom of a mug of ale, he is asked by a friend to help him. This leads him to Logan, a widower with a young boy.

Both parts of this story were good, and it was a very brave decision by the author to kill off Ansel after investing so much time and energy into his character. Even though I sort of guessed it was coming (it is in the blurb after all), it still came as a shock.

This was an easy to read novella, with plenty of hot scenes. Everything is easy, and everyone is gay

Fat Louise by Jamie Begley
Fat Louise (Biker Bitches Book 2) - Jamie Begley

I didn't like Cade, he was such a jerk, but Jane impressed me. She actually threw a grenade to blow up the bad guys. The story went downhill after they got back from Mexico. It felt like part of the book was missing. I wanted Jane's point of view and instead there was this stupid time jump.

Two of a Kind by Susan Mallery
Two of a Kind - Susan Mallery

Easy and simple read. I liked but didn't love it. Felicia wasn't as interesting as I thought her to be. The edge was missing. The kid storyline was unexpected but rather good.

Three Little Words by Susan Mallery
Three Little Words (Fool's Gold, #12) - Susan Mallery

A lot better than the last book in this series. Isabel and Ford were cute together, they had their history and it was interesting to read her letters. The second couple was good as well. I liked this pairing although Consuelo was a bit annoying with her "I'm not good and normal enough for him" attitude. Still, a good book.

Saved by Venom by Lolita Lopez
Saved by Venom - Lolita Lopez

I've been feeling poorly for a couple of days now. My friend, whom I had said, how much I enjoyed The Golden Dynasty, brought me her e-book reader and told me to read this series because it reminded her of Kristen Ashley's book.
Well, the first two weren't very good. Actually, they weren't so bad either. The stories had potential but the storyline and the world weren't developed well enough. What the stories had, was a lot of sex. Some of this was quite hot but some was out of my comfort zone. I even skipped the paragraph about the officers' club while reading the second story.
I didn't expect much when I started Saved by Venom but was pleasantly surprised. I actually liked Dizzy and Venom's book. It had much less sex and the main characters communicated a lot. The story also had some action and a rather interesting storyline.
I really hope the author continues with the series.
