Loving the Monster Within by Cassidy K. O'Connor
Loving the Monster Within - Mrs. Cassidy K. O'Connor
This is a fun, quick read that actually deals with a serious subject. Penelope works in a women's shelter for abused families. She is happy in her job as she feels she is making a difference. Whenever it gets too much though, she retreats to the roof and spends time with a gargoyle, telling him all her thoughts. Things take a twist when a vigilante starts beating up the men who the women have escaped from. When we meet Asald, we find out his story, along with bringing us up to date.
Well written, with no editing or grammatical errors to distract the eye, this is a quick steamy read. Definitely recommended for all fans of gargoyles!

Odder book...
III Millennium - Luis Royo,Yvonne Mojica

Some of his books are about the process and some have a story line.   This one has a storyline - but also some commercial work.   It took me out of the story, and was odd, but I also paid far more attention to the artwork.   While the storyline and little snippets - almost poems - are neat and work in combination with the art, it's the art that I bought this and read this book for in the first place.

I've read it multiple times, and most likely will again.   Many times.

Royo's art is simply fantastic, and with the emphasis on the future, there's a lot of metal.   Yummy.   Metal dudes+sexy girls hits all my buttons.   All of them.

Love it so damn much.

Gorgeous art, matching the story
Prohibited: Book 2 - Luis Royo

So I'm going to attempt to write this review without using the one key I can't use with as much ease as the others.

Royo's forte is sexytimes art, and as someone pointed out when I first showed his book off, he has a beauty and the beast thing.   The woman is human in appearance, the man not so much.   Sometimes she has added features - wings - and the man  can be the same, but he can be pure monster.

I've been drawn to him for a bit now, in part because I'm confounded by sex and so I started obsessing over it in my teens.   To the point that a friend said, with a snicker, that I was more obsessed than most guys she knew.   He does do art for a sextyimes comic magazine, but I can't name it without using the shunned key, so it fit into my need to know and understand why people wanted to mate and grope and penetrate so much.    And so often.

But if it were just that, I'd have put Royo and his work aside.   But, no, he creates stories that tie together his artworks in each book that captivate me and draw me in.   In addition, he is one of those rare artists who is hooked on technique in the same way that Gas Mask man is - I can't use his name without using the shunned key - but he expresses.   I can see, I can sense, the emotions on the women's face.  I drown in that emotion.

I'm drawn more often than anything to the faces, to the way the mouths part, just a fraction of an inch, to eyes, the teases, the way that each portrait is different even when using the same characters.   These men, and more so the women, seem to emote as much as many humans I know.    And I'm fascinated by the way they express this, on a page.

He's a rare one, Royo, who combines technique and emotive art.   I adore him so, so much, I can't find a way to express it as much as I want to.  Onto the other books of his I have.

And see, see?   I did most of it without the shunned key!

There's only one thing you have to know...
I've Fallen and there's a Tentacle in My Butt - Edward Naughty

Because all the grammatical errors?   Not as funny as this:

"'I've fallen and there's a tentacle in my butt,' Jenny whimpered."

I think that says it all to be honest.

Pretty good for monster porn!
Tentacle Monster Finds a Mate: When a tentacle monster fancies you, no place is safe, especially not the shower. - Alessa Montague

Well written, with a somewhat realistic reaction from the protagonist.

The grammar is pretty good, too, with this exception: "...the new tentacles more impatient and rough than the first ones..."

The attempt at consistency is nice, as it's clearly supposed to read, 'more impatient and more rough.'

It read weird to me, though.   Rougher would be the correct word here.

Anyway, it's still porn, and didn't really have me connecting with it at all.   Not emotionally, not in a 'oh, it's hot' type way, so I knocked off two stars because I read for both good writing and an emotional connection.

Still, one of the better monster porn shorts I've read!
