MY REVIEW

Blood Debt is ,for me, an amazingly refreshing and original paranormal romance novel, heavy on the Greek mythology. I have not read a lot about Centaurs, but I am blown away by how much I ended up loving this story by the time I was done. It kept getting better and better and by the end, I was so involved with the characters, that I was screaming for more.

The shifting point of view was confusing at first, but it didn’t take me long to adjust and the story flowed better, unfolding so rapidly in front of me that I forgot about it.

Camille had wondered who her father was, but never would have chose to lose her mom to find out. On her death bed, Camille’s mother did tell her who her father was and after some phone conversations and a background check (thank goodness for the internet, lol), she is flying to meet him. It struck me as odd, that anyone, especially a female, would go so quickly and alone on top of it. But, this is fiction and I am happy to overlook that and cut right to the chase.

Camille’s heritage traces back to the first Centaur touched by Zeus, but she is totally unaware of it. She does not know she is a Centaur, let alone know about their traditions and customs.

In a Centaur relationship, think the Stepford Wives in reverse. I love it. I couldn’t help but laugh. At first I thought it was creepy and funny, the woman is “queen” and the men give them no flak for it, but then I thought, someone has to be the boss. LOL The men worship the ground the women walk on and would do nothing to cross the traditional barriers, until….Cami

How far will you go for love? Cami is going to show us the way…and I am shocked by what’s happening on the page…..oops, sorry, it’s a secret. You will need to read her story for yourself. I NEVER saw anything like this coming and I am stunned by Nancy Straight’s ability to take the story to such a creative level. It just keeps getting better and better.

I guess I need to explain that a bit and you will see what I mean. Blood Debt started out as an easy 3 star novel. If it would have stayed that way, I would not have been disappointed. But, it didn’t take long and I knew I had to bump the rating. So, I thought 3 is out, it’s gotta be a 4, and that was a nice surprise. I would have been happy with that. But, it didn’t stop there. Well, I think you know where this is going.

I have a love/hate relationship with the characters. The torment and sacrifice they go through to follow the demands of their race, customs and traditions had me wondering how this could have a happy ending. At one point, my heart fell and I was devastated, but I did recover, in a very surprising fashion.

The more I read, the faster I went. A fantastic buildup to an ending that left me screaming for more, but, thankfully, I don’t have to wait for Centaur Legacy, Book II.

Laura, my sister, had a spare, signed, first edition paperback of Blood Debt by Nancy Straight and gave me the book. Thanks so very much Laura.

Now, I need the rest of the books. This is definitely one series I want to finish.

Destiny's Wrath (Destiny #3) by Nancy Straight
Destiny's Wrath - Nancy Straight
How on earth do I review this book? Nothing I write will compare to the standard of Nancy's writing and will get the point across of how deeply this book and series have made an impact. Okay, here we go. This review is about this book but obviously as it is the final one, then I will make comments about the series as a whole. The book starts with Max and Lauren actually enjoying a peaceful time of it but then Max opens a newspaper and the ride commences.

In this book you learn a bit more about the Council and the Cabinet and even more about Lauren's role with both of them. You meet some other members of the Cabinet who are nowhere near as 'nice' as Dakota is. Other new characters have a big role in this book as Lauren and Max try to figure out whether Samael is still being hosted by Jimmy or not. Lauren and Max are now closer than they have ever been and are working as a team. This makes it a joy to read as it is what I have hoped for since the first book. Lauren is still very strong in her convictions and doesn't allow Dakota/Doubt much influence over her. Max is strong enough to be a solid partner for Lauren and yes, I am still as much in love with him as I was in the first book as well!

This book is mainly about Samael and how they can sort things out... what are their options? Will an innocent have to be murdered in order to destroy Samael? What about the balance that is needed? Read this book and you will get the answers you need (and I do mean need). Samael really is a nasty piece of work and you will be on tenterhooks throughout the book as his story moves on.

All in all, all the loose ends are tied up. Lauren and Max explain things to each other (and therefore the reader) in a way that it all makes sense. Is it a Happy Ever After? I'm not saying. All I will say is that this was the perfect ending to a fantastic series that I am so glad I have read.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Destiny's Revenge (Destiny #2) by Nancy Straight
Destiny's Revenge - Nancy Straight

Good grief, I thought my book hangover was bad from the first one but I just know that after I've finished this series, it's going to be AWFUL!

This book starts where Meeting Destiny finished, Lauren wakes up from a coma and realises that her life has changed in a dramatic way, not the least of which is that Max is no longer around. Through twists, turns and emotional upheaval of both good and bad varieties, Lauren makes it out of the nursing home and tries to put her life back in order. I won't say anymore about the story for fear of spoiling it for others before they have read it.

So... how did this book make me feel? There is no easy answer to that as I wanted to keep on reading it, yet was impatient for the ending to see what happened. There is not a single dull moment in the story and your adrenaline will be racing at points. Lauren is simply amazing. She is strong-willed and very determined that she will have a 'normal' life. The thing I simply LOVED about this, is that Nancy Straight is not afraid to make you, the reader, ask questions. She writes in this book that the concept of good and evil, white and black, is instilled in us from childhood. Life is simply not like that. Life is all about balance. If you do not experience the dark then you will not appreciate the light. So some of the conversations in the book with Samael and Dakota were fascinating for their insights and perspectives given.

This series continues to be one of the most unusual that I have read. I am thoroughly enjoying every page and speaking of which, if you'll excuse me. I have Book 3, Destiny's Wrath, to start!

Meeting Destiny (Destiny #1) by Nancy Straight
Meeting Destiny - Nancy Straight

Right, first things first - I LOVED THIS BOOK!!! I stayed up all night to finish it, even turning down an episode of Game of Thrones to carry on reading. I was completely enthralled during the story, completely gutted that it had ended (and boy, what an ending!) and had such a book hangover that I dreamed about the story!

This book is a cross between young adult, paranormal, romance and suspense - all written from the first perspective of Lauren. I loved the explanation given to her of the different roles in life but I won't say anymore as I don't want to spoil it.

The story kicks off from page one and will wrap you up until the end. I loved how it was written and the pace was absolutely right. The characters are in-depth and Max, well, *sigh*, I think he's brilliant, I can't say more than that.

The next two are definitely on my wishlist and I will be looking for more from this author.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Centaur Rivalry (Touched #3) by Nancy Straight
Centaur Rivalry - Nancy Straight

Book 1 was brilliant, Book 2 was even better - it can't get any better than that, can it? YES is the answer! This series continues to improve as the story moves on. This, quite simply, is an amazing story that has been written with real feeling and is so completely real. Nancy Straight has written a story that you will find completely believable even as you sit, read and wish that you had some of the powers of a Centauride... or is that just me?!

The story continues along, following what was laid out in books 1 and 2. You are reintroduced to old characters and see some new ones too. Zandra is at her best, or is that worst as she sinks her claws into Cameron. Cami and Drake have some real issues to sort out. Will love be strong enough to pull them through or will circumstances get in their way? Gage and Bianca are back with a vengeance which I was pleased to see. Beau makes a decision that will see him leave the herd but fate has her own plans for him. Daniel is growing on me and I can only hope that I know what is in store for him. Honestly, so much happens in this book that you are left breathless. The finale to the book was just awesome and now I NEED book 4, Centaur Redemption!!! (due to be released shortly).

If you love reading paranormal romance books, like Greek mythology, have read ANY of Nancy Straight's other books, then give the Touched series a go, because I promise you that once you have read the first book, you'll be after the others. Highly recommended.
