Reading progress update: I've read 1% of "A Wind in the Night (Noble Dead Saga #12, Series 3 #3)" by Barb and J.C. Hendee
A Wind in the Night - Barb Hendee,J.C. Hendee

This just downloaded via a nook preorder.  I actually need to finish up one library book and then I'll be starting.

Mixed anticipation because I really love the Noble Dead Saga but blurb on this one sounds like will have Wyn involvement and I'm just tired of her particular character.  Not that that will stop these authors from immersing completely into their story…

Devoured this one as quickly as the first Noble Dead series. Leesil, Magiere and other familiar characters and the "voice" of the series finally back! What the last 3 books of this Noble Dead Second series should have been.

Is it me or were the villains (wraith, "the children") kinda missing? When characters meet up, a new form of undead was mentioned and Wynn reminds herself to tell them about the wraith -- then nothing (guess maybe foreshadowing next book?).

Seriously, these authors write so well they could engross me in anything including their grocery lists (so take any of my bitching about last three books as just a comparison to rest of series -- they did keep me riveted).

Review of "Dhampir (Noble Dead Saga: Series 1 #1)" by Barb Hendee and J.C. Hendee

Unforgettable; one of the fantasy series that has become a personal yardstick for measuring others by.

Hard to come up with words to paint a real picture for you. Leesil and Mag characters stay with you and years later you still want more.  This is why I'm glad I'm not a professional reviewer — it's hard to explain why one of your most favorite reads is a favorite.

I actually hesitated to get into series based on excerpts and plot descriptions friends were giving me.  I was pretty miffed at all the PNR and UF invading bookstore Science Fiction shelves—so despite "elves" and being in "epic fantasy" genre per the publisher site, I hesitated.  First couple of pages did not reassure me and then *bam* book took off and then the rest of series was bated-breath, nonstop, engrossingly good.

Started pre-ereader days and was one of few series/authors I bought in hardcover as soon as I could get my hot little hands on; no waiting for it to show up used and cheaper or until in paperback.  Now, the next books are pre-ordered as soon as author blogs/sites says available.
