Dhampir (Noble Dead #1)
Dhampir (Noble Dead #1) - Barb Hendee,J.C. Hendee 3.5 stars

After recovering from my initial horror that the protagonists made a living fleecing poor villagers with their fake vampire hunting, I started to really enjoy this book. Karma is a bitch, because Magiere and Leesil find themselves meeting real vampires on the way to their ill-gained retirement. Mariere's complete denial that the undead really exist did wear on my nerves, but accepting their existence would have meant that her scorn at the ignorant villagers she has been cheating for the past few years was completely misplaced.

The fighting scenes were phenomenal; exciting, fast-paced, and impossible to stop reading in the middle of. The story clicked briskly along until after the battle at the warehouse, then I thought it dragged needlessly - at least until the final battle. I'm curious to see what's in store for our redeemed heroes.

I want to pre-order this one.
First and Last Sorcerer: A Novel of the Noble Dead - Barb Hendee,J.C. Hendee

Debating if I want to preorder hardcover or wait for paperback (I actually haven't finished the previous book in the series yet).

Nevermind.  I know me; I just went ahead and ordered the nook edition.

Ouch!  Spoilers.  I should not have read the blurb on this one until finishing the last book.

Reading progress update: I've read 21%. "A Wind in the Night" by Barb and J.C. Hendee
A Wind in the Night - Barb Hendee,J.C. Hendee

Well, three groups now boarding, debarking or seeking to ships - Leesil/Chap/Mags, Wynn/Osho/Chane/Shade, and the Ennish elves tracking Mags.  Most of the moving story along bits still all Wynn with orb danger and mysterious visitors and Osho/Chane dripping enough teenage angst and sulks to suit the most diehard fan of YA/NA love triangles with no one telling anyone anything.

Oh well, I made it through Chapter 5 so will still keep going at this entry in an all time favorite series one chapter at a time between other reads until it hooks me or I finish.  My issues may be just that -- personal issues -- because I cannot stand Wynn nor love triangles nor nearly immortal beings who have lived for centuries but act like sulky teenage brats.

Reading progress update: 46 out. 354 pages

Reading progress update: I've read 1% of "A Wind in the Night (Noble Dead Saga #12, Series 3 #3)" by Barb and J.C. Hendee
A Wind in the Night - Barb Hendee,J.C. Hendee

This just downloaded via a nook preorder.  I actually need to finish up one library book and then I'll be starting.

Mixed anticipation because I really love the Noble Dead Saga but blurb on this one sounds like will have Wyn involvement and I'm just tired of her particular character.  Not that that will stop these authors from immersing completely into their story…

Review of "Between Their Worlds (Noble Dead Saga #10, Series 3 #1)" by Barb and J.C. Hendee

Devoured this one as quickly as the first Noble Dead series. Leesil, Magiere and other familiar characters and the "voice" of the series finally back! What the last 3 books of this Noble Dead Second series should have been.

Is it me or were the villains (wraith, "the children") kinda missing? When characters meet up, a new form of undead was mentioned and Wynn reminds herself to tell them about the wraith -- then nothing (guess maybe foreshadowing next book?).

Seriously, these authors write so well they could engross me in anything including their grocery lists (so take any of my bitching about last three books as just a comparison to rest of series -- they did keep me riveted).
