I've decided it's going to be near impossible to fan cast Brother Cadfael. Derek Jacobi does too good a job.
I feel like it would be like replacing David Suchet as Poirot. Kenneth Branagh tries but he's not Suchet.
"I reflect," he said. "I reflect a good deal. To run to and fro, to make the investigations, that, no. It does not suit my age, my temperament, or my figure."
Exactly this is the reason why the most recent Poirot adaption with Kenneth Brannagh has been such a train wreck of a movie. Brannagh´s Poirot is chasing suspects, he is fighting, he is running around. That is not Poirot!
I wonder if the screenwriter actually has read a single Poirot novel before writing the skript for this movie.
This is fun!
Superintendent Battle is doing good old plain detective work. Poirot interests lies in the furniture of the crime scene and the hands that have been played in the bridge match. And Ariadne Oliver takes the head-on approach, suspecting the doctor and not beating around to bush about her views.
Ariadne Oliver is so eccentric (one word: apples). I like her a lot.
