Polar Bear Dawn
Polar Bear Dawn - Lyle Nicholson 3.5 stars
Good techno-thriller, currently free on Amazon.
It's ending is a bit of a let down, but the rest of the story moves at a good pace and has some interesting ideas.
A scientist has a method to stop oil production, and some Wall Street traders want to use his idea to control the price.
As they get involved with a team of "fixers" to pull it off, the RCMP start getting on their trail.
Maverick/woman-in-a-mans'-world Bernadette Callahan starts putting the pieces together and tries to track them down.

The characters are well written, and it moves at a good speed. I was really enjoying it until it just suddenly finished. Could have done with a proof-read to catch various spelling errors.

NetGalley Review
Polar Bear Postman - Seigo Kijima Polar Bear Postman - Seigo Kijima

We received this book via NetGalley  to give an honest review.

Cute story about a family of crane's whose little chick goes missing and the Polar Bear Postman who goes to find him after getting a letter. He asks many different animals if they have happened to see this crane chick and each one either tells him yes or no. When he gets a letter from another district saying they have a crane chick can he find the parents Milk knows just what to do!

As far as the pictures went I thought they were okay but at times seemed to be rushed to draw in a way.

Also another thing I noticed was a lot of words that should have been capitalized and were not, along with a lot of repeating sentences. Not sure if that was intentional or not but it was a bit of a distraction when reading.

Polar Bears Past Bedtime - Mary Pope Osborne,Sal Murdocca

This is a good read. A nice adventure to the arctic with lots of interesting facts.

As always, Jack and Annie act as nice foils of each other.

While this one was a bit tamer in terms of adventure, there were a few suspenseful moments.

A fun read and great continuation of the series.

I wish I was a Master Librarian.

The Polar Express
The Polar Express - Chris Van Allsburg

This book is about a little boy that is having a hard time believing in Christmas. The Polar Express picks him up and takes him to the North Pole. Once he gets to the North Pole he meets Santa and Santa gives him a bell off the reindeer. He looses the bell and then it shows up under his tree the next morning with a note from Santa reminding him to just believe. The little boy grows up and he can always hear the bell, but everyone else can't. I would use this book during Christmas time and to teach my students to just believe.

The Polar Express - Chris Van Allsburg

The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg is a holiday book about a boy who goes on a journey on a train to the North Pole on Christmas Eve. The story is one that is shared in elementary schools all over every December! Being someone who loves Christmas I plan on always having a day to read this book and do fun Christmas activities. Some of the activities you could do with this include a sequencing game where they put the main events of the story in order or even have the students compare and contrast the characters. There are a lot of different things you could do with this sweet book and your students would love it!
