Sophie Redesigned: A Sophie and Sam Mystery
Sophie Redesigned: A Sophie and Sam Mystery - Karen Dahood This is the first in a series of books that was inspired by the author's mother-in-law just after she moved out of her Florida gulf coast home and into a new condo in a retirement village. Over the years she introduced the author to her friends and neighbors who shared the life stories of trials and tribulations. Sophie is a character invented to observe a multitude of choices they make when they are faced with growing old, diminishing resources, physical, emotional and financial. She also explores the relationship they have with their children.

Sophie George is a librarian who decides to retire after she finds she may be transferred to a less than desirable location, away from police detective Rueben Samuels "Sam" who is computer challenged and often requested Sophie's help doing research on the internet. So in her retirement she decides to "freelance" her research services through Sam to the police department. Sam is unsure about this arrangement but when a murder scene takes place virtually in Sophie's backyard and she knows the victim, and all the neighbors he finds her help hard to resist. Using different techniques they proceed to solve the murder along with uncovering a decades old killing corporation, and a religious cult, all linked to one very dysfunctional family.

Underneath this main plot is a subplot of Sophie dealing with her son's reaction to her retirement activities, and just what is going to happen with Sam and Sophie, will they become more than just friends?

I LOVED IT 5 STARS!!

I love mysteries but this book offered so much more, each chapter was perfectly crafted, each location was described in such a way that you felt you were actually there. The main characters almost become your friends through the pages. Sophie is a very independent spunky senior citizen, she reminded me of my mom in some ways, she is a character very easy to identify with, as is Sam. But I can also relate to Sophie's son, when my mom retired and then remarried years after my dad passed away, it was extremely difficult for me.

So what I am trying to say is whether you are 22 or 92, you will find enjoyment in this book, and if you enjoy a good mystery, this is one you should definitely devote some of your precious reading time.

AVAILABLE IN PAPERBACK AND NOW ON KINDLE FOR JUST $5.00

Redesigned by Denise Grover Swank 99 cents
Redesigned (Off the Subject #2) - Denise Grover Swank

While fashion design major Caroline Hunter may have been born economically unlucky, in college, she’s been lucky in love. Until her senior year at Southern University. She’s gone from a serious long term boyfriend to a string of crappy dates.

Then she meets mathematics grad student Reed Pendergraft.

Reed is everything she’s not looking for. Serious. Headed for a low paying university job. Boring. Caroline spent the first eighteen years of her life wondering where her next meal was coming from. She sure wasn’t getting trapped in that life again with a man living on a professor’s salary.

An encounter with Reed in a club proves she might have pegged him wrong. He brings out a lusty side she never knew she had. But just when she’s about to give in to her hormones, Reed makes a fool out of her.

When she shows up for the first committee meeting for Southern University’s Fall fashion show, a fundraiser for underprivileged kids, Caroline’s horrified to discover the insufferable Reed is the committee chairman. While she refuses to tolerate his totalitarian rule of the committee, she’s not sure she’ll survive the month with her heart—and her pride—intact. Just when she thinks she has everything figured out, she finds that her entire life has been redesigned, thanks to Reed Pendergraft.

Redesigned
Redesigned - Denise Grover Swank Just WOW.

This book is refreshing (to me, that is).

It tackles some subjects that I don't get to read about most of the time.

FASHION.
MATH.

However, while reading this... I have come to a conclusion that somehow, in our own little ways, we're applying both things in our daily lives.

It also tackles one of the topics that I almost always read about... social status. MONEY.

Caroline is very passionate about her major, fashion. She wants to finish it with flying colors, so she works her butt off for it. I like her personality because she words hard and she's a really good friend. The only downside to her is her mentality when it comes to the guys she dates. She wants her men to be financially stable. She doesn't want to worry about the future. That's her goal. Don't hate her. She has her reasons. You'll find out when you read it.

When Reed, the not-so-rich guy comes into the picture, everything changes.

Suddenly, she sees things in new light. Though they fight a lot, you'd notice the spark right off the bat. The other characters help a lot too. They make these two love birds shine and find their way to each other.

It's not an easy type of a relationship since our Caroline is still stuck on her goal to have a partner whom she wouldn't have financial problems with.

But then again, which relationship is perfect?

This story is about her finding the right balance between love and security.

Everyone has a story to tell. Try Caroline's. It might just touch your heart the way it touched mine. :)

Love Redesigned
Love Redesigned - Jo Iles I don't know why but I really did like this story even though the author never did redeem the hero in my opinion. I did like Holly and little Harry. After two years of marriage Daniel.."hero" hmm...finding out Holly is pregnant doesn't want her or the baby. So she leaves and makes a life for them. He shows up after not seeing or hearing from him. Of course in a "Harlequin" fashion she drops her panties pretty quickly not realizing Mr. Wonderful hasn't been completely honest with her.

Give it a read, make your own opinion but I would like to slap the guy silly. Tell Holly she deserves better and adopt Harry.
