Review: Vampire Academy series by Richelle Meed

So I just finally finished the Vampire Academy series! I read the first two books at the end of last year, the third one at the beginning of this year, the forth one in October and I marathoned the last two books in December.

Summary:

St. Vladimir’s Academy isn’t just any boarding school—it’s a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They’ve been on the run, but now they’re being dragged back to St. Vladimir’s—the very place where they’re most in danger...

Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy’s ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world’s fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever.

My opinion:

I'm glad I finally finished the entire series, because I already forgot most of what happened in the first three books. Overall I think this series is great for if you'd like something fun and just don't have to think to much about it. Because of that I gave the series in general 4 stars. It was fun and entertaining, but I didn't learn anything from it and I know I'm not going to think about it after I finished an other book. It doesn't stick with me.

There we so many things I didn't see coming and the developement in this series was just mindblowing! I'd never could have guessed what would happen in the last book after I finished the first one. You can never guess (if you don't count the chemistry between Rose and Dimitri) it and that's something good! I can't say which book was my favorite but if I have to choose just one I think it's going to be Spirit Bound. You know what's weird? I gave the first two books a 5 star rating on Goodreads, the third one 3 stars and the last three books 4 stars. I guess I have become more critical over the reading. It's logical since I've read so many!

But the covers of this series, omygoodness! I don't like those at all and I even don't like the new ones. The spines of the new ones are cool, but because I don't think I'm going to re-read this series I just read it on my e-reader. I know I'm not the only one who does that! Haha.

Currently reading + update
Spirit Bound 1st (first) edition Text Only - Richelle Mead

I thought it would be a great idea to do a currently reading + update post, since I'm reading a book that's in the middle of a series.

I'm currently reading Spirit Bound (Vampire Academy #5) by Richelle Meed. I'm halfway through and it's really good so far! This series isn't my favourite of like all time, but it's enjoyable and quick to read.

My goal this year was to finish all series I'm reading so I can start fresh next year. I only have to finish the last book in the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Meed and read the last two books in the Lux series by Jennifer L. Armentrout so that's 3 books in total that I have to read (besides the one I'm currently reading). I know I can do this! I really hate those bookcovers so and I don't think I'm going to re-read them, so I'm reading those two on my e-reader.

I usually always read two series at a time and then read one book of one series, a stand-alone, a classic and then read a book of the other series and I usually finish those first before I start a new one. I know some (aka most) of you have loads of unfinished series, so maybe this might be thé tip! And I usually also wait until the entire series has come out because I hate waiting so long for the rest.

So that's 3 books I'm going to read this month for sure. Maybe I'm going to read a reviewbook or classic as well, but I'm not sure.

Blood Promise - Richelle Mead

I feel like I couldn't do a review of a book that's in the middle of a series so I thought it was a great idea to just mention it (aka what I'm currently reading) and to give my general thoughts.

Blood Promise by Richelle Meed is the 4th book in the Vampire Academy series and I have to admit: IT IS AMAZING! Rose is so strong and the setting in this book makes me want to read Anna Karenina (I won't spoil anything, but if you've read one of these two books, you'll know why) but that one is so big haha. I really would like to read that one next year!

It's a shame I haven't read Blood Promise earlier, because I read the first book in this series at the end of last year and I read the second and third in January. I just wanted a break from this series and because I'm reading it on my ereader (I just hate the covers and I thought: I'm never going to re-read this series again) I've waited so long, but this book is really good!

Y'all know I'm also currently reading The Complete Tales and Poems by Edgar Allan Poe, but I only want to read 400 pages a month. This book is so huge (1020 pages) and full with short stories so I can do that. I've read all the poems and I've read about 200 pages of the tales.
