Rifka Takes a Bow by Betty Rosenberg Perlov
Rifka Takes a Bow - Rebecca Rosenberg Perlov,Cosei Kawa

I received this book for free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

I wasn’t entirely sure what this book was about when I requested, but I liked the art on the cover so I thought I would give it a try. The story is of a young girl whose parents are in the Yiddish theatre and what’s it like to spend her time backstage.

I think Rifka Takes a Bow is a wonderful book. I didn’t know anything about Yiddish theatre before I read it. Now, I think it would be an interesting subject to learn more about. Since the book was written by a woman who spent her childhood in the Yiddish theatre with her actress-mother and producer-father, I think it can be trusted for its authenticity. I think this would be a great book for teaching heritage to young Jewish children, and to help other children learn more about a subject they may never be introduced to otherwise. The art is abstract and colorful. I think the style perfectly complements the story.

I highly recommend this one.
