Some Like It Spicy by Robbie Terman
Some like It Spicy - Robbie Terman

The basis for this story is a cooking reality show and the reality show aspect really exhibits itself in the over-the-top characters and happenings. Ty and Ashton work well together but their interactions are also fleeting and rushed due to the secretiveness(Ty's the host/judge of reality competition show Ashton is on). There was some good tension with heated glances when they were filming for the show and around the contestants and crew but as far as an in depth and fleshed out relationship, it was lacking.
Overall, the story was a mixed bag of over-the-top villains- Morgan the spiteful contestant and Ashton's vindictive disapproving father, bratty chefs, Ty's funny friend Scott who he shares great quips with and because of is able to bust out of his cardboard cutout for awhile, and a main couple who aren't content to just share smoldering glances and risk reputations to be together.
If your favorite reality show is on hiatus then you'll definitely want to give Some Like It Spicy a go to get your wild and crazy fix.

Some like It Spicy - Robbie Terman

Her mouth felt like it had been stuffed with cotton; she licked her lips, trying to create any sort of moisture.
“You need to stop.” The words came out in barely a whisper,
as if Ashton were trying to remind herself, rather than tell him.
But he heard, and his response was as quiet and desperate as
hers. “You first.”

Some like It Sinful
Some like It Sinful - Robbie Terman The second book in the series was just as enjoyable as the first. Ms Terman really knows her way around a story. The only downer for me was the sports angle, hockey isn't really my thing.

Chloe is a really great character and I love her snarky attitude. Griffen is a really interesting guy, he starts out kinda jerky but really grows through the book. I loved their whole story and dynamic were fun to read. They both had a long journey to find love, the second half of the book really puts you through the emotional ringer! Have tissues, lots of tissues!

The narrative is a split POV, going back and forth between the main characters. I love this because you really get to see how each character is feeling. Without Griffen's POV, you might just think he is all selfish jerk, but he has way more depth to him.

The steam her is really quite delicious, still more mainstream smexy than detailed erotic. They do know how to get down though!! These two a definitely in lust from the beginning, it was fun to see the sparks fly!

Great visits with characters from previous book and some new supporting roles added!! Oh, please let Jenna be the next book!! I am dying to know what is going on there!! Or Taryn could be another lucky lady to find love, I see her fitting in very well with the other gals!

This is the perfect read if you are looking for a sexy contemporary romance, if you are a hockey fan you are likely to love it cause it references games and practices. But if you are a non-sportie like myself you might feel like skimming those parts. Still really well written and enjoyable read that took me on a sweet journey to a charming HEA!

*Disclosure - I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts, opinions and ratings are my own.*

Some like It Spicy
Some like It Spicy - Robbie Terman Confession time, I love Reality Cooking shows, especially the competitions!! I watch them all and salivate over things I could never cook, mostly because I do not cook at all. It never stops me from loving watching others cook and the challenges are always interesting!

This book is the perfect combination of my TV obsession and my love of romance. Really fun storytelling that brings you right into the competition. The pace was spot on and I suspect Mr Terman is also a big fan of the genre. She gave the perfect number of contestants, just enough to keep things from getting confusing. Terrific build up of all the supporting characters, I never had a moment where I thought "wait, who is that", really well done seeing as there are a lot of folks who com into play.

I was fine setting aside the moral dilemma of the plot cause I am a sucker for a love story! This was great because it is my favorite style, giving both the main character's POV.

Ashton was a riot, her sass combined with her temper made her really fun to read. She never stood a chance against all Ty's delicious charm. While they fell in love, I fell for them! I laughed a lot, I cried a little and I enjoyed every second of this story!

The steam factor is more mainstream hotness than full on erotic detail. Definitely gets a gals temperature rising!! They are quite prolific in their steamy encounters, loads of variety! Face fanningly sensual and deliciously naughty settings!

I am ready to jump into the next book, I am so hoping it is one of her two friends Chloe or Jenna!! Everybody need a HEA!!

Review: Some Like It Sinful by Robbie Terman
Some like It Sinful - Robbie Terman

A copy of this book was provided by the publisher for an honest review at The Romance Evangelist.

Some LIke It Sinful is the second book in Robbie Terman’s new series about Chicago chefs but as a new reader, I had no problem with it as a stand-alone. It tells the story of how a pastry chef struggling to start her own business unexpectedly acquires a famous fake boyfriend when the local hockey star agrees to work at her bakery after a failed prank at the team owner’s charity auction.

Chloe Nelson bakes the best desserts in Chicago. If only she had the customers to show for it. It’s bad enough that a behemoth bakery chain is about to open a new location right across the street from her little shop. But when her sister, the assistant District Attorney, shows up one morning with a resentful hockey player in tow, Chloe isn’t sure if having this man as her new unpaid assistant is a good idea.

Griffin Lange has been a hockey star for so long that he doesn’t know how to do much else. He sure as hell doesn’t know how to behave in public, or he wouldn’t have tried to drive that model Porsche in the middle of a crowded arena event. The Brawlers don’t need this kind of publicity, so when the DA’s office offers him a private deal for community service instead of jail time, he takes it, thinking it’ll be easy and safe. Being around Chloe every day is neither easy nor safe for Griffin’s disposition, no matter how much she might rev his engine in other ways. He called her his girlfriend so the other players wouldn’t know he’d made a deal to stay out of jail. What neither he nor Chloe could predict was how the whole city would respond to this pretend relationship, or how it would change the future of not only his team and her business, but their chance at happiness together.

The best part of Some Like It Sinful was the romance between Chloe and Griffin, and how they learned to grow past their own preconceptions about love and commitment to find what they were looking for in each other. Griffin’s relationship with his grandma was just the right amount of touching and sweet, and Chloe’s banter with her close friends gave me extra perspective on why she was pushing Griffin away even as she knew he could be the one guy who could make her truly happy. I also enjoyed the subplot about how someone was trying to sabotage Chloe’s bakery after the business started picking up, and it was great to see that play out alongside the ongoing romance between Chloe and Griffin.

What kept the book from being a more satisfying read for me was the continuous series of increasingly implausible events that were used to move the story forward. The way Griffin came to work at Chloe’s bakery was more than a little suspect, although when that unorthodox arrangement returned to make trouble for everyone, I ended up tolerating its existence a bit more than I had at the start. But the way Griffin’s team reacted to the news of his (fake) girlfriend seemed more than a bit over the top for me, and then later when Griffin’s position with the team was significantly altered, I was fairly certain that this was not something normal hockey teams would do. By the time the Brawlers’ season was over and Griffin and Chloe found their happy ending together, I could only laugh and say “Well of course, he did!”

Some Like It Sinful is a nice easy read without too much angst or heart-rending drama. Although I was new to the series, it was fairly obvious to me who the stars had been for the previous book, and who was being set up for future books to come. Robbie Terman has a way with light-hearted romance that makes Some Like It Sinful a fun way to spend a few happy hours.
