review SPOILER ALERT! 2013-12-16 11:27
Rock Me (Ross Siblings #2) by Cherrie Lynn
Rock Me - Cherrie Lynn

For me the only saving grace was Brian. I didn't like Candace at all. She was incredible whiny, immature and a pain to read about. I guess with her parents I can see where it came from, but she should have been old enough to know better and do better. And I can't believe she would stand up for her family after what

Jameson did and protect him. Even after he just brushed off his friend handsy groping.

The audacity Candace showed by asking Brian to let it go - that just ruined it for me. I think he should have dumped her ass.

(spoiler show)

Unleashed (Ross Siblings #1) by Cherrie Lynn
Unleashed - Cherrie Lynn

I enjoyed reading the book. It felt short, but I think that's because I just came from my sci fi mood, where the books were twice as long. I liked Kelsey and Evan's vacation. It was pretty hot. I thought Evan was a very sweet man, however I'm really looking forward to reading Brian's story after seeing him in this one. I also liked Kelsey's friend Lisa.

I think this was just what I needed after reading some books, where the MC male part was an ass. I hate those. I also hate sweet men, but this book didn't cross the line.

Barely Leashed (Ross Siblings 0.5) by Cherrie Lynn
Barely Leashed (Ross Siblings, #0.5) - ... Barely Leashed (Ross Siblings, #0.5) - Cherrie Lynn

This was a short prequel to Unleashed (Ross Siblings #1) and I liked the brief glimpse into Kelsey and Evan's life. I didn't like Kelsey's husband at all. I'm looking forward to starting Kelsey and Evan's book.

Breathe Me In (Ross Siblings, #2.5) - Cherrie Lynn

This is a prequel to the story "Leave Me Breathless", which I absolutely loved. In this short we get the full accounting of the shadowy hook-up between Ghost and Macy that was referenced in "Rock Me" and "Leave Me Breathless".

I loved visiting with Macy and Ghost again. I adore their connection and their chemistry. Two problems though. One, Macy was still in her tightly controlled, semi-bitchy phase and even though I know she's on the way out of it, it's still happening in this story. Two, the window of time upon which we're gazing is the worst part of "Rock Me" when Candace is being TSTL and an utter basketcase. So, while I love every encounter between Ghost and Macy, every scene with Candace makes me want to bang my head against a wall. And I want to kick Macy for being so scared to take a chance ... but then that's kind of silly because I know how it all works out.

So, in short, read "Leave Me Breathless" before you read this and enjoy it as a nice little fix of a favorite couple.

Leave Me Breathless (Ross Siblings, #3) - Cherrie Lynn

I really enjoyed this book. Seth and Macy were a great couple together. It was the hottest of the three in this series -- the erotica writing was un-skimmable -- and the story itself was richer and more layered.

With the exception of the contrived strife at the end (which seems to be part of a template for this author), I loved every page. Even the issues at the end were basically organic and believable considering what we know about the characters and would have been fine if the catalysts (there were two) hadn't been so clunky. Their reactions were natural for their character development even though what brought about those reactions felt imposed by the author.

Seth is "Ghost" from "Rock Me" and he was a surprisingly effective romantic lead. I'd been skeptical after reading Brian and Candace's book because Ghost comes off like a goof in that one. He's anything but, however. He may be a jokester, but he's got angst to spare. And it's all understandable and engaging.

Macy is a lot more substantial than the prior two leading ladies. She's funny and strong but also sensitive and compassionate. She doesn't wilt even when she's having an emotional crisis, which is a pretty fine line for an author to walk, IMO. She's a relatable character and I don't think there was a moment when I thought to myself "what the hell are you doing, that doesn't make sense", like with Candace at the end of Rock Me.

I'm a weirdo as far as being a reader of this genre. I don't want to read it unless there's a decent story even though what brings me to it is the eroticism. I need more. But if the story's good, I want there to be less sex and more story. I'm a paradox. But with this story, I wasn't skimming the love scenes or wishing they'd get on with it. The scenes were well integrated in the story line and they were as well written as any erotica I've read so far. Exactly what I'm looking for in this genre.

So ... when's the next one? Gimme.
