review SPOILER ALERT! 2017-04-13 19:41
The Usurper - Rowena Cory Daniells

The book picks up right where the other book left off.Piro(the daughter) is in disguise and a slave to the ones' that killed her parents and took her kingdom.

Fyn(brother) just wants to help his older brother. But he's not in the same part of the kingdom.

Byren(older brother) never wanted to be king but now finds himself in a position where he must lead a rag-tag resistance against the people that overthrew his government.

I think Rowena Cory Daniels has good writing style, the characters are great you got likable and dislikable, and then a few that fall in the gray area.

And the world building I thought was fantastic.

I only give it 3.5 stars because through a large portion of it I thought it was slow, but that could totally be on me.

I am going on to the 4th and last in the series.

The Uncrowned King
The Uncrowned King - Rowena Cory Daniells

I enjoyed this book, what with the now family of three spread out.

Youngest brother Fyn lives in a abbey, older brother Byren is in the wild. And teenage sister Piro is living in the castle.

Byren knows of an encroaching enemy so he is between the castle and the abbey because he knows the elder monks are skilled warriors. This would be good defense for the castle if he can get them back in time.

What he doesn't know is the enemy is making an attack on the abbey as well.

Now we have Fyn at the abbey, does he survive the impending attack?

Piro at the castle,an eventual attack and will she make it?

And Byren in the wild caught between the two places.

And the kicker is neither sibling knows if the other is okay.

The King's Bastard
The King's Bastard (King Rolen's Kin, Book One) - Rowena Cory Daniells

This book turned out better than I first thought it would be.The author did a great job on world-building,and I really liked the characters.
In some cases didn't like.
The story is centered around one noble family, parents who were basically forced into marriage and their four children.Three boys and a
girl. One boy is supposed to take the throne, his twin a formidable fighter. The younger brother banished to a monastery because he has
affinity, which in this book is a type of magic. And the daughter who is kind of bull-headed when it comes to rules. And they want to marry
her off for the good of the kingdom.

Everything takes place in a unheard of land with unheard of beasts. It's always cold and they travel on frozen rivers.

Itty, Gritty
Besieged - Rowena Cory Daniells

I really liked this book. Wow, it was great. Everything I look for in fantasy, well I suppose this is more of a dark fantasy, but that's probably why I like it.

Look at the cover !! Super pretty, and i'm not gonna lie it is why I picked up the book in the first place. The story itself though is what kept me reading.

This is the first book in the Outcast Chronicles trilogy. It does a really fantastic job of setting the series up, introducing characters and fleshing out the world. It covers the span of about 30 years, and follows the perspective of about four (or five I can't remember) characters.

The main perspective (in my opinion) seems to be Sorne, the halfbreed son of the king, and Imoshen, a T'en woman (the magic people).

I love the world that Daniells has thrown us into. Its harsh, unfair, struggling. There's hatred, war and corruption. None of the characters are perfect. They make mistakes and have flaws. It's fantasy, and yet very real. It reflects real life.

This book ended in a cliff hanger, but then that's not very surprising, as it is part of a trilogy. I can't say if this series will have a happy ending in any sense, but if it does, the characters are going have to work very very hard for it.

I am very interested to read the rest of this series.
