Safe in His Arms (Safe, #1) by Renae Kaye 4 Star Review
Safe in His Arms - Renae Kaye

In the late-night quiet of the caravan park shower room, Lon Taylor washes away the filth of the Western Australian mines. He’s not looking for anyone, but when Casey offers, Lon doesn’t turn him down.

Welcoming the young man in his big, hairy arms, Lon provides a safety to Casey that he has never known, and Casey wants to stay forever. Still reeling from the breakup of his family years ago, Lon’s not sure he’s ready for the responsibility of the comfort and security Casey craves.

But perhaps Lon can risk opening his heart again and hoping for a brighter future. Casey has some pretty big skeletons in his past to deal with. And Lon wonders what Casey will do when he finds out how badly Lon failed at protecting the ones he loved eight years ago.

Review

Despite feeling like a trite porn (public showers, bear and twink) set up in the blurb, this is actually a sweet, sexy romance that thoughtful looks at recovering from abuse and finding safety and love in a romantic relationship.

Casey is a wonderful multifaceted character and so is Lon. I don't want to give to much away but both have lots of issues to work through and they do so with out drama (but for one moment) and seek therapy which is grand to see in a book.

The setting in the caravan park is unique as is Lon's job as a miner.

Very good read.

Safe in His Arms
Safe in His Arms - Renae Kaye A good read but I did feel like it was dragging a bit. I wasn't really enraptured with the story or the characters. I was curious about Lon and Casey's situation and I did want them to be in a lasting relationship but their interaction just didn't grab me. I think the author did okay with tackling such difficult subject matter. Ronnie situation was intriguing to me and I would have loved it if he had been released and readers could see him living a fulfilling life with Olivia.

I'm not sure if I want to read the next installment or not.

Safe in His Arms
Safe in His Arms - Renae Kaye This story is about two guys who have very painful and messed up family pasts. Both are doing okay but could definitely be better. They seem to sort of just be going through the motions sometimes with life. Anyways, they are perfect for each other and help each other to find happiness.
Oh, and there's lots of sexy time.

Safe in His Arms
Safe in His Arms - Renae Kaye

This book was okay, but I was expecting more because I really liked Renae Kaye's previous books, especially Loving Jay.

It had such a preachy tone that it often made me think of manuals.

I couldn't connect with the characters. I felt there was more to them but it was just left unexplored.

The "drama" wasn't drama at all, and it felt forced.

In the end, it took all I had in me not to drop it at around 60%

Safe in his Arms
Safe in his Arms - Melody Anne Ya this pretty much sucked.

I didn't like the h at all, she came across as a rude bitch at the beginning of the story, and though she got better, I never really connected with her. And seriously, who moves from southern Cali to Montana, and doesn't know it's frigging cold there in the winter? This is the woman they hired to teach their children??!!

The H/h had no chemistry whatsoever, not to mention we went from dislike to "will you marry me?" in 1.2 seconds.

Just a dull uninspired holiday read.
