Another good reading month for me...13 books total.  I could have probably finished a couple more, except I've been doing some major cleaning because we're having another Open House this year for my youngest Daughter.  Thank goodness, I don't have worry about another Graduation until 2021, that sounds so futuristic, but it's only like 3 years away.  This one for my Step-Son.

I had a quite a few books with three-ish to four-ish star ratings and one book that is definitely a favorite of 2018.  I loved Lifel1k3.  I'm obsessively stalking Jay Kristoff on Instagram, so I know when the second book is coming out.  Plus 1 dud...Rhythm, Chord and Malykhin, that one had me rolling my eyes way too much.  I also finished a much-loved Series (White Trash Zombie)...at least I think it's the last one.

3.3 Out Of 5 "who put that dead body in the trunk of my car" STARS
Just A Little Junk - Stylo Fantome

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~BOOK BLURB~
Just A Little Junk
Stylo Fantome
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Jodi Morgan is having a bad weekend.

After partying a little too hard, she wakes up with a monster hangover and almost no recollection of the night before. So imagine her surprise when she looks in her trunk and instead of finding a spare tire, she finds the last guy she'd danced with before blacking out.

Who is he? How did he get in there? How did he die? And oh dear lord, did she kill him!?

When her older brother's best friend offers to help, things start looking up. They've known each other since she was thirteen, and ten years later, he still treats her like a little kid - surely, committing felonies has to trigger some sort of spark. Together, they wind up going on an adventure that takes them all over Los Angeles. From raves to penthouses to strip clubs. All in the search for the answer to her question.

Who is the dead guy in my trunk!?

~MY QUICKIE REVIEW~

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you like a funny, albeit, over the top rom-com, reminiscent of The Hangover with a splash of Weekend at Bernie's, you should give this a try. (((The scene at the rave is my favorite of the whole book))). I thought this was a totally fun read, while not life-changing or anything quite like that, though.  And, other than the twist near the end and everything following after, this could have been a solid 4-stars.  That whole scene…it was just too over the top for me.  But hey, it could make for an entertaining movie, I'm sure.
Neighbors
Neighbors - Stylo Fantome Well, fam, this is where I tap out: 22%.
1) The character was taught to be a good girl, which means not embracing your sexuality.
insert snore here
2) The characters run the smut gamut in the first 2 chapters
3) Her room mate is annoying characterization of the roommate that says "whohoo" and calls you a slut
4) Long descriptions of her nun - like J-Crew and DKNY clothing. Or as they are known here in the midwest, sweaters. Shirts. All beige. All the time.
5.) Dialogue straight from a high-schoolers mouth to your page. "I do not, I just don't want to dress like a slut, I like these clothes." I don't have a great idea of the ages of these characters, but my thought is "Not old enough."
"But I was just pretending."
"Oh okay, so you were just pretending to get fucked in the ass."
6.) Internal monologue/conflict is awful, and becomes a thing due to a long lost douchebag from high school showing some interest in the heroine. He's cold and more buttoned up and he makes her heart go pitter patter too. But he's barely kissed her, let alone fucked her in the ass, so you know..whatever will she ever ever decide.
I don't think I need more reasons.
Muscle Memory
Muscle Memory - Stylo Fantome Muscle Memory - Stylo Fantome I love this story. It involves two people that aren't necessarily the best society has to offer. They do some messed up things and seem toxic at times. This storyline and these characters are so unique and real. Readers take the journey with them through the ups and downs and consequences. The author manages to turn it into one of the sweetest love stories ever. I had all kinds of emotions while reading. I absolutely recommend Muscle Memory.
The Neighborhood
The Neighborhood - Stylo Fantome The Neighborhood - Stylo Fantome
In the first book, Katya was pushed out of her shell by her roommate. She went from reserved and never dating to dating two men. She has feelings for both, and of course things blow up. The ending is not what many would have seen coming.
In this book, she's all about her. She's going to do whatever she wants and not worry about the consequences. Things get very messed up, but they eventually pan out in the best possible outcome for all parties. Often things don't magically fix just because love is there. Lots of advice and self-discovery takes place first, which are actually great ideas to consider for relationships in real life.
A few new characters are introduced. It's going to be fun witnessing the connections play out in future stories. I love this author's writing style. I've never disliked a book she's written. Although, this isn't my favorite storyline from her, it's absolutely worth reading.
