Best Laid Intentions
Best Laid Intentions - Talia Carmichael A quick paced, sweet love story with a bit of humor, sexual tension and no drama. When rock star Savage sets his sights on record store owner Taylor he is looking for more than a little bit of fun. Taylor, however, has a lot going on between running his business and raising his 10 year old brother. He is willing to have some fun with Savage, but is not looking for a relationship. Surrounded by friends and family who want the two men to be happy together, what starts as a sweet courtship morphs into a relationship and Taylor begins to second-guess himself, but Savage is determined to keep Taylor as his one and only.

Taylor and Savage had great chemistry and I liked that they took the relationship slowly, becoming close by sharing their day to day lives. Taylor’s younger brother is adorable and bright beyond his years, and I would have liked to see a little bit more of him interacting with the couple as they got closer together. While not angsty or overly dramatic, Taylor’s hesitance and reasons for it were understandable.

Unfortunately, I had not read any other books in the series and I felt a little bit lost with the introduction of Savage’s bandmates and family and references to prior storylines so early in the book. They are definitely meant to be read in order, even though the story mainly focused on the new couple. I’m certain readers of the previous book will enjoy catching up with old characters and watching their relationships continue, but for me I found myself wishing there was less references to the old storyline and a little more time spent with Savage and Taylor.

A copy of this book was provided by the publisher for an honest review.

Unbound Reaction - Talia Carmichael

Book 4 in Talia Carmichael's Prentiss series was an enjoyable cowboy read for the most part. I liked Thomas & Kendall and it was fun seeing their attraction blossom into a romance that Kendall was trying so hard to avoid but Thomas was his own gentle, determined force of nature and as with the riding lessons that Kendall was determined not to take. Thomas was equally determined to have his way about this as well.

My biggest disappointment was the ending to me it felt rushed, I wanted a little bit more and it just felt like the author had gotten bored and decided she was done with their story and yet to me it didn't quite feel like their story was done. Maybe we'll get more of these two men at a later date and that little bit more that I'm hoping for will be there to put the finishing touch on this painting.

Slow Burn
Slow Burn - Talia Carmichael Slow Burn isn't my favorite in the Impressions series, but it's not the worst either. Actually, out of the three that I rated three stars, this one would probably be my favorite. Why? Well, I love Niall and he was both mentioned and appeared in this, so it made the book a lot more enjoyable for me.

I loved the friends to lovers things, the misunderstanding with the father, and the acceptance from Gregory that he wanted Braden. So why three stars, you might ask. Well, this was just too short for me to give it any more. Yes, it covered everything and closed things off. But I prefer something I could really get in to. And with this, I was into it and then it ended.

So would I recommend this? I would say, if you like the rest of the series, yes. But if you want to see what you think of this series, read one of the first three books.

I'd forgotten how much fun...
Opposites Attract (Prentiss #3) - Talia Carmichael

...the men of Prentiss are. It's been a while since I read the first two books and I was happy to see book number 3 when I was book browsing over on Kobo awhile ago.

Book 3 is all about Drake and HC. Drake is the stuffy foreman of MGR Ranch, HC is the tattooed, motorcycle riding chef, who seems to live to aggravate him. Opposites attracting is what happens when these two men decide they want each other. Hot, steamy loving, outrageous endearments and quid pro quo is what ensues as they each turn their alpha male loose.

I may not be talking bestsellers or classic novels here, but I am talking fun and entertainment and really don't we all want a bit of that from time to time.

I hope Ms. Carmichael has more books planned for Prentiss because I really need to know who's going to finally set their sights on Thomas? And what about HC's editor and friend, Jonas, someone needs to coral that man and show him that maybe he doesn't always need to get his way? Oh and let us not forget about Maddox, another of HC's friends and a fellow chef, he sounds a bit on the fiery side with his red hair, Mohawk and temperament, I'm sure there's an interesting story there just waiting to be told as well. Yes, Ms Carmichael, we need all the stories on all the men passing through or stopping over in this interesting place you call Prentiss. Please, let there be more, please.
