Podcast #189 is up!
Seeing by Electricity: The Emergence of Television, 1878-1939 - Doron Galili

With the slow site performance of the past few days, I forgot until now to post my latest New Books Network interview! It's with Doron Galili about his pre-history of television, which examines both its development and how visionaries conceptualized its role. Please enjoy with my compliments.

Resurrection and The Returned

The way it sometimes happens, there are a whole mess of new or planned television shows with the same premise: the dead are returned to life, but not en masse, and not as cannibal corpses. This Slate article charts some of the confusing adaptions and homages. (This is also the premise for Revival, a comic series that is just aces so far.) So this is my take on the premiere episodes of two of these series: The Returned, which aired on the Sundance channel and can be found currently on Netflix streaming, and Resurrection, which airs Sundays on ABC.
