When Your Sanctuary is Threatened: Tris's Book | Review
Tris's Book: Circle of Magic, Book 2 - Tamora Pierce,Tamora Pierce, the Full Cast Family

This MG Fantasy doesn't shrink from the truth about Pirates.

Earthquake damage leaves Winding Circle vulnerable to pirate attack, so everyone - including the young mages-in-training Tris, Briar, Daja, and Sandry - is working to strengthen the community's defenses. When Tris's cousin Aymery comes to visit, he advises the "weather witch" to return to the family that exiled her, but she doesn't wish to leave her friends to face the threat without her.

As the onslaught begins, two things become terribly clear: The pirates have a powerful new weapon, and they have an accomplice within Winding Circle. But the attackers have failed to reckon with the fury of a young mage betrayed once too often and her very stubborn, very loyal friends.

**This review may contain spoilers for the previous book.**

SUMMARY:

One of the things I like best about this series is the way that the children work with & along side their adult mentors as well as together. That really starts to be solidified in this book as they make both good and bad choices in that regard.

Another strong point of the series is the message that choices/actions have consequences. Tris & the others continue to deal with the emotional results of the ones they make in this book for many years.

Four and Tris Almost Make It: A Divergent Parody (Four the Divergent Book 2)
Four and Tris Almost Make It: A Divergent Parody (Four the Divergent Book 2) - Stir Ling I'm honestly not sure of what to make of this book, seeing as it was written in the same vein as the first book. While it wasn't really bad, it wasn't good either.

Four Kissing Tris: A Divergent Parody (Four the Divergent Book 1)
Four Kissing Tris: A Divergent Parody (Four the Divergent Book 1) - Stir Ling I wasn't impressed by this story, but I'm not repulsed by it either. While the story has something deleted from the original Divergent series, it could use a bit of improvement.

Tris's Book
Tris's Book - Tamora Pierce

Finally continuing my Tamora Pierce reread.  Of all the Circle of Magic books, this was the one I remembered the least, but it's still great. While all the books deal with the four children, each one does focus a bit more on a character and in this one it is Tris, the merchant girl who was abandoned by her family and has been struggling to gain control over her weather powers.

The book picks up shortly after Sandry's Book with the cleanup from the earthquake. The four learn that when they bound their powers to fend off the earthquake, it was not temporary.

I did remember this more as I went and I love seeing the bonds between the group. Hopefully I won't put off Daja's Book too long, as I remember that one the best of the four.

Trilogies and series

So as this being my first official post I want to write about my favorite trilogies and series. Don’t get me wrong there are a lot of more series I have read but this are definitely my top 3. For now.

These are: “Shatter me” by Tahereh Mafi, “Divergent” by Veronica Roth and last but not least “Hush, Hush” by Becca Fitzpatrick.

What do this 3 series have in common? They all have a strong female lead. I’m all about girl power. Who run the world? GIRLS, GIRLS *dances like Beyonce* I’ll stop now… They have swoon-worthy love interest, amazing supporting characters and a lot of action. You’ll end up loving any of these series.

Shatter me

IMG_3836

Shatter me is about this girl named Juliette and she has a “lethal touch” when she touches people they die, just like that. They keep her locked up in a asylum, little do they know that her touch is much more than what they think. She then gets a cellmate called Adam and that’s how the story starts. Then a lot and I mean a lot things happen. This book will suck you right in and spit you out on the end of the third book. It has a constant plot, crazy cliff hangers and its so very amazing I really, really love this book and I think it doesn’t get the attention it deserves. I really think it should be a movie or a Tv show but then again all the books that get turn into movies sort of suck and it ruins the magic for us readers. Am I right? You’ll fall in love with it I promise. Shatter me is the first of 3 books followed by Unravel me and Ignite me. It also has this novella that is definitely a must because it’s from Adam’s and Warner’s point of view, it’s called: Untie me. And if your wondering which team I’m on I’m most definitely Team Warner. Oh yes don’t give me that look!

Divergent

IMG_3835

This one is about a girl named Beatrice (born in abnegation). She has to choose at the age of 16 to choose which faction she wants to be a part of. They perform an aptitude test on every 16 year old to help them with the decision of choosing a faction. There is 5 factions and these are Abnegation, for the selfless; Amity, for the peaceful; Candor, for the honest; Dauntless, for the brave; and Erudite, for the intellectual. Her aptitude results were inconclusive meaning that she is “divergent”. Divergent means that they belong in more than one faction or all factions. She chooses Dauntless and there she meets her love interest: Four. Gooosh Four is like the boyfriend I want to have, I mean come on girls isn’t him like perf and beautiful and toughtful and loving and kind and just asdfghjkl! Okaay back to the plot. All Dauntless initiates must be in the top ten ranking to stay in Dauntless if they aren’t then they will become factionless; this means that they don’t belong in any faction and have to live in poverty. They all must past 3 test to know if they belong in Dauntless. But like they say don’t trust anyone, it turns out Erudite and Dauntless are working together. But for what? You’ll have to read to find out ;)  Beatice or Tris grows as a person and as a fighter. What I love about this book is that this female lead is one of the strongest and most selfless females I’ve ever read. She is focused on what she wants she knows wrong from right and she doesn’t take no for an answer. If she wants something done she goes and do it herself. She is not torn between two men she knows who she loves from beginning to end. And as much as I admire Four, I admire Tris much, much more. They compliment each other perfectly and they support each other and stay with each other through thick and thin. If you read the book you know that Tris gets a tattoo of 3 ravens meaning the family she left behind. I got a tattoo of something very similar but instead of 3 birds I have six on my back. I love this book some much that I even got inked hahaha. But seriously if you haven’t read this book I highly recommend it. You’ll laugh you’ll cry and you’ll fall deeply in love with every single character. As you can see this one is obviously a dystopian society book and I pretty sure it one of the very best out there. Divergent is the first of 3 books followed by Insurgent and Allegiant. Veronica Roth begun writing this series from Four’s POV but after a few chapters she decided she needed another character to become the main character so she created: Tris. But you can actually read Four’s first chapters in the Divergent novella: Four. READ IT OKAY. READ. IT. You will fall in love all over again with Four and I’m not even kidding.

Hush, Hush

If you’re all about angels and death and nephilims and that sort of stuff this is the series for you. Nora Grey is an average human girl *gasps* yes h u m a n. She is in high school and she has friends. Suddenly Patch Cipriano walks into her life. Patch is a fallen angel that is sent to earth to kill Nora so he could get a human body. What? Imagine liking a boy and then he tells you that he needs to kill you like for real… Nora is drawn to Patch even if she doesn’t want to admit it to herself.Nora as I said it’s just your average girl like any girl out there and she doesn’t have powers or anything. But she becomes a heroine, in her own way. She shows no fear and she is willing to do anything to keep her friends and family safe. I might as well say that Patch is an a-hole at the beginning of the book but then he inserted himself inside my heart. You’ll love Patch just as any other male lead you love. And I know you have many book boyfriends (or girlfriends) like me :D. Their love is put to test as things happen will they stay together or will they fall apart? The series consist of 4 books Hush, hush being the first followed by Crescendo, Silence and Finale (really cool name right?). Becca Fitzpatrick will make you want to be an angel or have a super hot angel boyfriend. (Photo creeds to goodreads.com)

Thanks for reading!

-Love Nicole <3
