V IS FOR VAMPIRE by Adele Griffin
V is for . . . Vampire - Adele Griffin
Lexi decides to run for class president of the freshman class. While she was ahead of Maddy and Hudson in her quest for humanness, she uses her vampire habits in her bid for election. She also upsets the love of her young life as she runs for office. Meanwhile Maddy and Hudson make Halloween last the whole month of October and Maddy once again uses her hunting skills to take down another baddie. And during all this, they host a couple of pixies.

I love this family. They are funny. Lexi wises up the Mina and decides to strike out on her own. Maddy is wild. Nothing evil gets past her. She is still up to her finding and routing evil out of the neighborhood. Hudson still continues his environment protection and gets Maddy to protect him. She does have a way about her.

I wish this were not the last book in the series. I would love to see these characters again. I have a few questions I want answered.

VAMPIRE ISLAND by Adele Griffin
Vampire Island - Adele Griffin
This book starts the Vampire Island series. Maddy and her family have come over from the Old World to the New World in hopes of becoming fully human. There are rules to follow and the Argos watch over them. Maddy is not too crazy about following rules and she's the one most likely to remain vampire.

I love Maddy. She just does whatever she wants. This time she is spying on the neighbors. She's funny as she goes about her spy work. She also gets in a lot of trouble. Good thing she has some of her vampire traits yet. I also like Hudson, her brother. He takes preserving the environment seriously, much to the disdain of his classmates.

I look forward to more of this family.

THE KNAVEHEART CURSE by Adele Griffin
The Knaveheart's Curse - Adele Griffin
Maddy and her family are hybrid vampire-fruit bats who are trying to become fully human and have moved to the New World. Unfortunately the 9th Knaveheart has followed them and is trying to find its heir so it can retire. Maddy must be on her toes so the 9th Knaveheart does not succeed.

This was fun. It can be read as a standalone. I loved Maddy. She is everything a pre-teen should be including being a vampire. She is sarcastic, snarky, and funny. She still holds onto some of the vampire ways but is trying to fit in. Her family is different. I enjoyed her brother. The two are what siblings should be.

The story was fun as Maddy met some otherworldly creatures. It is up to her to save the day and protect the Knaveheart heir from coming to fruition. I have got to find the first book in the series and I hope there are more books to come.

Review: One Bite Leads to Another by Kelly Steel
One Bite Leads To Another - Kelly Steel

Kelly Steel is a friend; hence me breaking my "no sexy vampires" rule. And you know, if I'm going to break that rule, Leo is the guy to break it for. I adore honourable heroes, and Leo is that. Sexy, too ;)

"One Bite Leads to Another" (great title, btw) is fast-paced with lots of interesting ideas and an ending that solves one of my big problems with vampire romances - no spoilers, though! You'll have to read it.

The idea of a vampire island (no, that's not what it's called! but check out the blood bank) has really caught my imagination. Lots of possibilities for a fabulous series.

Moon Island (Vampire for Hire, #7)
Moon Island (Vampire for Hire, #7) - J.R. Rain I've read each Vampire for Hire book and somehow J.R. Rain manages to do the impossible and that's to make something that's already great just get better and better with each book. I don't know if it's because of the smaller-form factor of his books or the fact that each one has a self contained story with an with an overreaching story-arch that flows through each book much like a soap opera. Maybe it's his wit and humor or the romance and gut wrenching drama. Or maybe it's a combination of all of the above. Whatever it is he's definetly onto something. Samantha Moon has become a staple in my house and I eagerly look forward to each new book in the series.

This time Samantha Moon finds herself investigating a seemingly normal death of a gentelemen who drowned in his pool but this time it's on a mysterious ilsand complete with tales of sunken pirate ships, lost booty and even a pirate curse. Even with all that things are not what they seem on this island and now Samantha must meet her greatest challenge yet. (I know I say that everytime but it's true everytime) As the forces of darkenss grow Samantha seems to be rushing headlong towards her destiny. Once again Samantha Moon continues to evolve and grow. We get to briefly meet a new boyfriend and Samantha is once again faced with some difficult choices. Will she listen to her inner demon or her conscience? Find out in J.R. Rains latest isntallment.

What is it about cool pirate islands that authors seem to be drawn too? I don't know but when it works it works and J.R. Rain manages to capture it well. I'm always amazed at Mr. Rains writing, the way he can make you laugh in one sentence and cry in the next. Great book!!!
