Nick Jorgensen is a quirky genius. He's made a fortune in the competitive high tech field with his quick mind and attention to detail. He believes in hard work and trusting his gut. And he believes in karma. It’s the only thing that makes sense. People are difficult, but numbers never lie. In the disastrous wake of a broken engagement to an investor’s daughter, Nick is more certain than ever he isn’t relationship material.

Wes Conrad owns a thriving winery in Napa Valley. The relaxed atmosphere is a welcome departure from his former career as a high-rolling businessman. Wes’s laid-back nature is laced with a fierceness that appeals to Nick. In spite of his best intention to steer clear of complications, Nick can’t fight his growing attraction to the sexy older man who seems to understand him. Even the broken parts he doesn’t get himself. However, when Wes’s past collides with Nick’s present, both men will have to have to decide if they’re ready to lean into the ultimate fall.

Meet the Author:

Lane Hayes is grateful to finally be doing what she loves best. Writing full-time! It’s no secret Lane loves a good romance novel. An avid reader from an early age, she has always been drawn to well-told love story with beautifully written characters. These days she prefers the leading roles to both be men. Lane discovered the M/M genre a few years ago and was instantly hooked. Her debut novel was a 2013 Rainbow Award finalist and subsequent books have received Honorable Mentions, and were winners in the 2016 Rainbow Awards. She loves red wine, chocolate and travel (in no particular order). Lane lives in Southern California with her amazing husband in an almost empty nest.

Leaning Into the Fall (Leaning Into, #3)Leaning Into the Fall by Lane Hayes
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This is book #3, in the Leaning Into series. This book can be read as a standalone novel. To avoid spoilers, and to better understand the series, I recommend reading it in order.

Nick is a tech genius, who tends to forget everything when he is making better things happen in the lab. For real life and relationships - he does not do so well. In the middle of a deal with a deadline, he is hoping for a miracle. Hoping he can still trust those closes to him.

Wes owns an amazing winery where Nick purchased some wine. They meet when Nick goes to the winery, and unexpectedly has the worst run of luck he has had in some time. Despite all the animosity and attraction crackling in the air, Wes does his best to be kind to Nick.

This story actually surprised me. I was not a big fan of Nick's character after reading the first couple books int he series. His story made me understand him, and why he does what he does better. The flow and pace seem to go along well. The characters make a great couple. The narrator made some odd pronounciations that caught me off guard, but otherwise had a very pleasant voice.

Meet the Narrator:

Nick is an award winning narrator with a fan following for his work in fiction, specifically in the romance genre. His performances in two of Amy Lane's books, Beneath the Stain and Christmas Kitsch, made him the recipient of Sinfully M/M Book Review's Narrator of the Year - 2015. When he's not in the booth, Nick enjoys spending time with his wife, Jessica, and kids, (aka their beagle Frank and cat Stella), drumming in his cover band, exploring rural back roads with his wife on his motorcycle, or being enthralled in a tabletop role playing game with his friends.

Audiobook Review for Leaning Into The Fall
Leaning Into the Fall (Leaning Into Stories) (Volume 2) - Lane Hayes

The Sullivans Boxed Set Books 1-3 (Contemporary Romance) - Bella Andre

This is a boxed set of books 1-3 of The San Francisco Sullivans series.  These books can be read as individual standalone novels.  For reader understanding, and to avoid spoilers, I recommend reading this amazing series in order intended.

Book 1: The Look Of Love

Chloe is rescued in the dark of night by none other than Chase Sullivan.  He can see she has already been through it.  He invites her to stay and gets to know her better.

Chase is seriously attracted to Chloe.  She seems to feel the same.  When it all comes down to it, asking her to stay was the best choice of all.

These characters are so much fun to read!  The family is full of charming and witty people who just happened to be hot.  The setting is dreamy, and this story is just the perfect side of sizzling!

Book 2: From This Moment On

Marcus meets Nicola and falls nearly at her feet.  While he helps and protects her, she cannot help but respond to the serious and caring man inside.  When he finds out who she is will his feelings change?

Nicola is so glad to finally have a chance with someone who knows nothing of her past.  A man could be more than intimidated by the garbage out there about her.  Being in the public eye makes her more than wary of the men she meets.

Such a sweet and almost fairy tale story that touched me deep.  I was so pleased at the end I actually clapped!  I love these characters and I am excited to read more.

Book 3: Can't Help Falling In Love

Gabe has been burned both professionally and personally.  As a firefighter, he is always giving of himself.  He needs a true partner in every sense of the word.

Megan feels she owes the men who helped save her and her daughter.  Meeting Gabe feels like a dream.  Is there a future that can be real?

This was a slow burn in the romance.  I love how it got hotter, and a family was such a treat to read about.  The recurring characters in this series make it all worthwhile.

Every page was easy to turn to the next, and then the next.  I am eager to read more in this amazing series.  The Sullivans are truly character's in every sense of the word.  I give this boxed set a 4/5 Kitty's Paws UP!

The Best I Never Had (DeVine Winery, #1) - Loni Flowers
Daniel is one of the sweetest heroes I've read. The way he makes Olivia feel is sigh worthy. They have both been burned in the past, but Olivia has a harder time trying to move on from the hurt. Especially when Daniel's past comes back and threatens to end their relationship. Most of the story was a bit predictable, but that did not take away from the romance and emotion of it. This book also sets up Garrett, Daniel's brother, and Hannah's story coming up in the next book of the series. The glimpses into their relationship have me impatiently waiting for its release. Overall a wonderful contemporary romance.

My Review

Being an Australian book lover of course I had heard of the fabulous Loretta Hill, but hadn’t had a chance to read one of her books. When The Maxwell Sisters came along, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity and being one of three daughters myself, I just had to see what the Maxwell sisters got up to. I absolutely loved this book, the real life drama, romance, humour and family loyalty were wonderful and the descriptive scenes of the area, just amazing.

Phoebe Maxwell is the youngest of the sisters, at 25 she’s a primary school teacher and the most positive person you could meet. No matter the circumstance, Phoebe will find a little ray of sunshine in every dark storm. Phoebe is marrying Christopher and after making a promise to her father, is on a mission to fix their broken family.

Eve Maxwell is the middle daughter and at age 27 is a talented sous-chef in Perth. She has been secretly in love with her best friend Spider for the past eight years and has been avoiding him since the fire a year ago.

Natasha Roberts (Maxwell) is the eldest and the daughter that has the most pressure on her. At age 30, her life has always gone to plan, with the successful career in marketing and the big house in the right suburb, until the last year when her life was turned upside down from a tragic event.

Each sister is keeping a secret and when Phoebe calls the family together, her sisters are hesitant because they don’t want their secrets discovered. A month before the wedding they all arrive at Tawny Brooks to help renovate the restaurant that was damaged a year ago. The plan is for the reception to be held there, but Eve is emotionally distraught.

As with all secrets, they cannot be kept for long and it seems that John “Mad” Maxwell knows them all anyway. His words of wisdom always seems to be the push each of his daughters need to find their path to happiness, but when his secret is discovered, will the girls be able to move forward.

We are introduced to Adam the winemaker, Heath the engineer and Natasha’s husband; Eric the gardener and Spider’s parents, Patricia and Graeme. Wedding preparations take a lot of patience and a lot of negotiation between families and this family is no different. Phoebe tries to keep a world war from breaking out between the mothers, while John keeps score on who wins each point.

Follow each sister through their month long stay at Tawny Brooks and discover what happened to the restaurant, what the secrets are and who finds love again. The Maxwell Sisters has something for everybody from love to heartache, tragic loss to new beginnings and mystery to discovering the truth. Ms Hill’s style is extraordinary and she had me rolling on the floor laughing to crying and everything in between. This is definitely a must read for all romance readers.

About the Author

Loretta Hill

Loretta was born in Perth, Western Australia, the eldest of four girls. She enjoyed writing from a very early age, spinning stories almost as soon as she could read them.

She was first published in the West Australian Newspaper with a short story about a circus horse when she was eleven years old. They paid her ten dollars for it and she knew she’d found her calling.

She put her dream on hold however, to pursue a less risky career in engineering. Blessed with her fathers knack for science, she graduated from the University of Western Australia and began working as a structural engineer. She continued to create stories in her free time.

She now writes contemporary romances for Avalon Books under the name Loretta Brabant and mainstream commerical women’s fiction for Random House Australia under the name Loretta Hill. She is happily married with three young children. When Loretta isn’t writing, she enjoys reading, good food and travelling.
