REVIEW BY MERISSA - Queen Wolf (Triad Mates #1) by Erin M. Leaf
Queen Wolf (Triad Mates #1) - Erin M. Leaf

Queen Wolf is the first book in the Triad Mates series, and we start off with a boom! Quite specifically, the boom that follows something being set alight. Avery has decided to burn her ex's old porn magazines, and takes great delight in doing so. Although part of a pack, Avery doesn't feel like she belongs, for a number of reasons. However, times are a-changing for the pack, and that has a major impact on Avery and her life too.

I love Erin M. Leaf's books, and always look forward to reading them. This book was no different. We have wolves, we have a triad, and we have sneaky stuff going on that is causing trouble for them all. What could be better?

First books in a new series can always be tricky. It's hard getting the world building just right without info-dumping on the poor reader. However, this is set in 'our' world, which means the author has been able to concentrate on the pack and how it works, including the problems it now finds itself with.

I loved the world building in this book, and that, coupled with strong characters and no editing or grammatical errors, means I thoroughly enjoyed this story and can't wait for the next book in the series. Absolutely recommended by me.

* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and my comments here are my honest opinion. *

Review of "An American Werewolf In Hoboken" (Wolf Mates Book #1) by Dakota Cassidy
An American Werewolf In Hoboken (Wolf Mates Book 1) - Dakota Cassidy

I knew going in that this was one of author's first books (with parts worked into later books).  I have no idea how to rate it.

I enjoyed her finding and adopting her "dog" she called Fluffy.  Loved how quickly she became attached and how the werewolf that was actually Fluffy didn't have the heart to stop being Fluffy because she cried so hard when once thought Fluffy was lost.

I know I would have enjoyed the story way more if the worldbuilding that was introduced well past the halfway mark had been introduced earlier.  The whole curse, the nature of their pack that took in so many disabled or ostracized others, the politics involved ... all would have immersed me more and made me care more about the romance/mate part.

Parts were hilarious.  The sex scenes (often introduced at chapter start) weren't particularly interesting because I wasn't invested in the romance part and it was wrong he wasn't honest.  They weren't badly written or anything, I just skimmed them as uninteresting parts on the way back to the charming, funny story bits I liked.  Again, I think that was partly the fault of the romance/lust development lacking the context that got introduced past the halfway mark.

Not finished with the author.  Likely to continue series (one of those that sounds like each book changes the main characters) for the bits of worldbuilding teased in this one -- but not in any hurry at all.

Review - The Witchy Wolf Trilogy by Alexis Dare
The Witchy Wolf Trilogy: A Fated Mates, Alpha Shifter, Paranormal Romance - Alexis Dare

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!!

***Previously received review copies of the parts, but I own the whole thing now :)

Stalked

This is the first book in the series.  It is about 127 pages so take your pick whether you call it a novella or a novel because to me it doesn’t matter :)  It is for adults only due to the steamy content.

This book started with action from the word go.  Chloe is confident in some ways, but she has many walls to keep away the others.  Gabriel is a sexy Alpha in every sense of the word.  Their story is very well put together.  Plenty of action, mystery, intrigue, drama, fighting, and so much more that just pull you into the story until you are at the end saying Wow!!  I couldn’t put the book down.

Peril

This is the second book in the series, and I highly recommend reading them in order.  I think you will understand the characters and their background better if you do.  This is for adults only due to the steamy content.

I really like both Chloe and Gabe as characters, and they work together :)  Alexis’s writing is just awesome at pulling you into their lives and making everything come alive.  She threw in plenty of twists, turns, mysteries, kidnappings, and more to make it a wonderful adventure :)  It makes me feel happy reading her series :)  And mood always effects how you feel about a book :)  I could tell you more, but then that would ruin the surprises you would get reading it!!  I can’t wait to see what happens in book 3.

Cursed

This is the 3rd book in the series, and I’m not sure if there will be more in this series or not.  I really hope there is because I love this world that Alexis has created.  Hoping maybe to see the twins stories and Harmony’s too!!!  This is an adult only book due to the steamy content.  I do highly recommend reading the series in order because it is just better that way and you understand what is happening, characters, and their relationships :)

This book was the perfect conclusion to Gabe and Chloe’s story (though I really want to see more of them and hope this is not the end!!)  Lots of new twists and turns in this book!  Chloe and Gabe just make me happy because they are awesome main characters.  Chloe learns all sorts of new things about her new family which is pretty cool.  Alexis’s writing is easy to picture while reading so the images flow into your brain as you read.

I highly recommend this series to paranormal fans who like magic, wolves, witches, vamps, and other magical delights!  :)

The Alpha Takes a Mate [Wolf Pack Mates 1] (Siren Publishing Menage Everlasting)
The Alpha Takes a Mate [Wolf Pack Mates 1] (Siren Publishing Menage Everlasting) - Cara Adams This one was picked up for the Kick's Ugly Book Cover Adventure....and while I should have gotten to this in July...better late then never. I wish I passed this one up....I got to about 54%...and while it is a typical Siren Shifter Menage....for some reason the predictability of this one just bugged me so am giving up. There was just nothing about this that makes it stand out

Laurie's Loves (Beckett's Wolf Pack, Tri... Laurie's Loves (Beckett's Wolf Pack, Triad Mates #1) - Lynnette Bernard I liked the story's premise with the triad mates, the combined DNA, the Fates...but, it didn't grab me the way that I wanted it to, and the sex was just ho-hum. I actually skimmed a lot of that. It just didn't do it for me. I wanted to like it more, but there was just something missing. I'm not sure what it was, but there it is. I will say that I was surprised to find that Laurie was just so helpless. I feel like she would never truly be an Alpha female because she just didn't seem like enough of a fighter to me. Maybe she's going to get stronger as the series goes on.

I am interested in the next book because I liked the female lead, Nikki, in this book. I'll give the series one more try but if it still doesn't grab me, I think I'll just let it go at that point.
