I enjoyed this romance between a broken warrior and a former friend. I received this for free and I voluntarily chose to review it. Add a broken warrior dog to it and it is even more endearing. There was a whole lot of hurting and healing going on in this story. While this is not for the under 18 readers, it does have a lot of heart in it and I love the way it all played out. I've given it a 4.5* rating, and encourage you to read how they worked their way through there problems.

My local park is the former campground for the Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland council. On one side is City Hall and our branch of the Wichita Public Library system, on another side is the small amphitheater and playground, and then on the last side is the walking path around the pond and trees.

Review:

A disappointing read due to the author inserting himself in the narrative and being incredible cringey while doing so. The real servicemembers were not given any background and they were jumbled together, almost in a way that the reader had to watch the documentary Morel made to understand the book. And the author is seriously afraid of his own shadow - he is just weakling and not up to the task of dealing with service members. There were two good topics brought up in this book: veteran suicide and veteran-led protest groups that were against the Iraq war (these veterans were the first ones into Iraq in early 2003). However, I don't think any reader (veteran or civilian) would get really anything out of this book.

It's Book Fair time at my kids' school, so I will be working shifts throughout the week. We have a table just for Dave Pilkey books (he's the author of Captain Underpants and Dog-Man graphic novels and my son LOVES his work; I hate the Captain but enjoy reading along with my son when he picks up a Dog-Man book - go figure). 

This week it's all about the graphic novels I picked out from OverDrive to fill the book prompts for some of the holidays in the 24 Festive Tasks game. One graphic novel is coming from my TBR and I am working on finishing a mystery for the game as well.

Wounded Soul involves a human unaware of vampires, and a vampire smitten with insta-lust for said human. Of course, if it was left like that, it would be too easy, so throw into the a mix a psychotic vampire, a best friend working for the human/vampire police, another best friend terrified of the thought of vampires, and a coven leader you respect and don't want to insult. Sounding good yet?

This book a really good read, from the first steamy hot meeting, to the intensity of the psychotic, to the nerve-jangling will he/won't he live (and that's not the 'he' you're thinking of!) Annabelle Jacobs is one of my favourite paranormal romance writers, if only for the fact they are not automatically based in America. I loved her Regent's Park series, and I loved this one just as much. I would love to read more about the characters mentioned in this story, but I have no idea if there is a sequel or series planned.

Either way, this was really well-written, with no editing or grammatical errors that I noticed. The pacing was good, and the connection between the characters was intense. And don't forget the bad guy you love to hate. Definitely recommended by me.
