June Re-Cap...A seriously crazy month.
The Deal - Elle Kennedy
One of Us Is Lying - Karen M. McManus
If I Fix You - Abigail Johnson Dodge
The Girl from Everywhere - Heidi Heilig
Dragon Teeth: A Novel - Michael Crichton
Gods of Anthem - Logan Keys
Underwater - Marisa Reichardt

Of Dreams and Rust - Sarah Fine

This year, June has been a month from hell...It started out with my birthday/Open House for my daughter, then a few days later her graduation ceremony, that all went okay...just very hectic.  Two days after my oldest daughter graduated high school, my youngest daughter and I went up the road a mile to Subway and came home and a car had driven into our house.  Like, seriously, drove through the front porch and the garage...then proceeded to go through the wall of the garage into the woods behind the house, where he hit a tree.

This photo is the aftermath of what happened...apparently the guy driving had a seizure. It's pretty scary, to pull into your driveway and see that...insane.  But, hey...now we get to do some remodeling.  The month closed out with some serious medical stuff for me, that I'm unfortunately, still dealing with.  :(

Anyway, my reading hit a bit of slump (as in I found it hard to concentrate on reading and listening at all), with everything going on lately.

Book Theme Song

(this link will take you to my tumblr post with video)

Inner Demons by Julia Brennan   --Sometimes, I'm not sure how I stumble upon the songs that I do…when I seen the cover page for this I was like, wow, that matches the cover's color scheme perfectly.  Then I listened to the words and...with it's soulful inflection and meaningful lyrics…it's just about perfect.  **If you watch this video, and you can tell me what is on this girl's head, I'm dying to know…♫

⇝OVERALL RATING⇜

4.3/5 STARS

A-

My Thoughts

Jill has seen something that she can't stop thinking about, no matter how hard she tries.  No matter how much she wishes she didn't have to see it…she did.  This story is her journey, during one very hot Arizona summer, she tries to come to terms with what she saw.

If I Fix You deals with some complex issues, including abuse and adultery, but it's told in an inspiring way, that makes you realize you have to hold on to the ones you love the most; and maybe even give some of them a second chance to prove themselves to you.

Ratings Breakdown

Plot:  4.2/5

Main Characters:  4.5/5

Secondary Characters:  4.5/5

The Feels:  4.2/5

Addictiveness:  4.2/5

Theme or Tone:  4.5/5

Flow (Writing Style):  4/5

Backdrop (World Building):  5/5

Book Cover:  4/5  Mostly good, but I don't think she ever wore a hoodie. It was Arizona in the Summer, after all.

Ending:  4/5 Cliffhanger:  Nope.

Will I read more from this Author?  I would, especially if it was you-know-who's (if you've read it, then you would know) story.

Mini Treats & Hand-Held Sweets: 100 Delicious Desserts to Pick Up and Eat - Abigail Johnson Dodge Read my full review: http://bit.ly/17Ldr7B or http://bit.ly/1cKrOjZMy opinion: This was a dynamic cookbook that will be used in my entertaining and holiday trays. It would have been a 5 star cookbook had there have been more pictures. This cookbook is not for a novice chef and most recipes are quite intricate...step by step pictures or in-process pictures definitely would be helpful to bakers. I must add that I didn't like the formatting of the ebook. Now, I do have to admit that it looks like this book is not available in ebook format, so this complaint maybe a moot point to my 4 star review, but in what I read, it was mushed together.
