Duck! Rabbit!
Duck! Rabbit! - Amy Krouse Rosenthal,Tom Lichtenheld

Duck! Rabbit! is a fun book. It is a great way to teach young students that there is more than one way of seeing things. This book would be great for shared reading because as the book is read the teacher can stop and ask questions to see what students are thinking. Students could also write an opinion piece stating why they think it is a duck or rabbit and why.

Duck! Rabbit! Review
Duck! Rabbit! - Amy Krouse Rosenthal,Tom Lichtenheld

This is a great book to use with younger grades when learning about perspective and point of view. I would use this book in my classroom by having students discuss what they see as we read the book together and than have them compare answers with other classmates in order to understand perspective. Duck! Rabbit! by Tom Litchtenheld is a story about how there can be two different views on something, yet both can be right. I love this book, because it allows students to see how and why to end an argument, and to try and see the other person's side.

Guided Reading Level: J

Classroom Activities:

Have students write an opinion piece about whether it is a duck or a rabbit. Have
them include supporting details in their writing.

Discuss how sometimes there is more than one way to see the world.
Both characters in this story are correct because of the optical illusion presented in
the illustrations. This would emphasize that two people can see things differently
and that there is not always just one right answer.

This book is a great to use when teaching students about perspective and how we can all still get along even though we have different perspectives.

Is it a duck or is it a rabbit; or is it both. This book will have you thinking and assuming. This is a great book for young children to see both sides. Also they can make predictions of what it actually is. I would use this book during small reading groups where they reading and follow along with their peers.
