Faith And Moonlight Part 2
Faith and Moonlight: Part 2 - Mark Gelineau,Joe King

This book continues where part 1 left of, but it also fits in with the bigger universe of An Echo of The Ascended, which was supposed to become a series of series that were slowly working to come together. Unfortunately, I've never since heard anything about it, and this makes me scared that the stories will have ended rather abruptly. And I really liked the concept, also because the vibe and genre of each of the stories was (slightly) different. I would certainly recommend them, and I would read more, if I could.

Civil Blood
Civil Blood (Best Left in the Shadows Book 2) - Mark Gelineau,Joe King

After the first round of The Echoes of the Ascended, Best Left in the Shadows was my favorite of the four storylines. Therefore I was eagerly awaiting Civil Blood because I was really looking forward to continuing the story of Alys and Dax.

I was not disappointed! This proved to be a very interesting and nice short story. It was very nice to see the links with the other stories. I liked it a lot, to be honest. Looking forward to read more of the series!

Skinshaper
Skinshaper (Rend the Dark Book 2) - Mark Gelineau,Joe King

I think I might have mentioned before that I'm enjoying this monthly series that consists of four series set in the same universe but which feature different genres and people.

Skinshaper is the second book after Rend the Dark and it continues to be a great story. Ferran and co encounter an abandoned mine and village, completely empty save for one survive hanging in a cage.

This series is by far the darkest of the four, but very nice to read. The one thing I really, really liked is the references that I start to notice between the different series. I'm looking forward a lot to the next story (both in this series and the next Echo of the ascended which will be more of an urban fantasy).

Broken Banners
Broken Banners - Mark Gelineau,Joe King

All four storylines in The Echoes of the Ascended have been introduced and now it is time for the second round of stories, of which Broken Banners is the first. As I overall really liked the first four novellas, I was looking forward to the new batch.

Elinor returns and finds a field full of slaughtered soldiers. As she investigates, she finds that maybe she can't trust her own friends...

I enjoyed this novella slightly better than the first Reaper of Stone novella. She wasn't my favourite character in the first novellas. It might be that I've gotten better used to Elinor, but perhaps also the fact that there are starting to be more and more links between the stories, which I think will be a lot of fun to follow through the stories. I'm wondering if at some point the stories will merge together (and how that would happen, as the authors state that anyone can just follow the stories they think are interesting, and thus they may not know certain characters).

As these are published once a month, I'm already looking forward to the next!

Faith And Moonlight
Faith and Moonlight (Volume 1) - Mark Gelineau,Joe King

Faith and Moonlight is part of The Echoes of the Ascended which contains four different plots, in four different series, set in the same universe, but with different genres for each book.

This book features Kay and Roan who enter into a magic school where they have one month to proof themselves.

These were very interesting characters again. I would really like to see their dynamics and problems in the next books of these series. Also, I started to see links between the books of which I think we'll be seeing a lot more in the coming books. (And which is something I always really like to look for).

This was the first round of four novellas and I really enjoyed reading them. I'm looking forward to the next batch!
