Great Story and Characters
Cast in Angelfire: An Urban Fantasy Romance (The Mage Craft Series Book 1) - SM Reine

There was a million dollar bounty on a 19 year old girl named Marion being advertised on the Darknet. The ad also said she had ti die by November first which gave a month’s time to kill her. Assassins were gear up to find and kill her. Marian woke up in the hospital and the only thing she knew was her name and she was awake. Marian did not understand the English being spoken to her and replied in French. Marian did also know she needed to find Seth Walker . Now she was talking To Dr. Lucas Flynn When Marion and Dr. Flynn’s fingers touched she could suddenly understand and speak English. After Lucas ran tests he determined it showed Marion was half angel half witch she was a gray mage which was rare. Then some assassins show up at the hospital and Lucas saves Marion's life.

I don’t usually like stories with fairies in it all that much But i really Liked this one. What is there not to like : assassins, unseelies, seelies, spies, werewolves, angels, witches, memory loss, jealousy, threats, lust, orgies, travel to different worlds within the earth, magic, and so much more. I really liked Marion’s character maybe not the one that is talked of before her memory loss but I did with the Marion of this story and all the twists and turns she went through was totally awesome. I Liked Lucas also. I highly recommend.

I received an ARC of this story for an honest review.

Angelfire - Courtney Allison Moulton

3.5 stars

So Angelfire took me a bit to get into. I started it at the end of August and well... It didn’t draw me in for quite a few chapters and even then I wasn’t too fussed about reading it any chance I got. It was probably about a third of the way in (and it's pretty long) that I finally realised what the story was about that I started to gel with it.

The probable romance between Ellie and Will certainly helped things along. I knew there was something between them previously, or at least a friendly companionship. It was just in the way Will behaved around her.

As for the more normal aspect of the story: friends and parties, I have to admit that I wasn’t too interested in that. I also figured that Landon had feelings for Ellie early on, though she was entirely blind to that until it was pointed out to her by many of her friends.

Family wise, I would love to know what's going on with Ellie's dad. Why has he gone all psycho suddenly?

I guess I'm interested enough in the plot to continue the series at some point but not right now.

Angelfire - Hanna Peach

Angelfire is not what I thought it would be, it was much much better. Alyx is a pretty awesome MC, she's tough, but she's still got a big heart. Unlike a lot of heroines, Alyx can't be classified as one stereotype, she's very well rounded. I thought the mixture of demons, angels, and mortals was interesting. Earth isn't really earth anymore, it's like a deconstructed version of modern times. Demons take people over and the seraphim try to destroy the demons and "protect" the mortals.

Alyx is an 18 year old seraphim who loves fighting and winning her competitions, however as the book progresses she learns she's meant for more. She's learning that she has a choice, she no longer has to mindlessly follow her Elders. There's a lot of twists and turns when it comes to who's good and who's evil. Most of the characters are well developed, some of them are cool, others are tools.

Overall, I thought it was a great start to the series. It's a refreshing take on the whole angel and demon genre, not your basic story with this one. There's some mystery, romance and of course action an adventure throughout the book. I'd recommend it, and look forward to reading the next book.

Dumb and Dumber...a YA Urban Fantasy where you can see what incompetence can achieve...
Angelfire - Hanna Peach

I didn't like this one.

It was not awful, but it was not good either.

It played with the demon-angels-mortals triangle with - surprise, surprise! - the Angels not completely the good guys. As I read this twist on the well-used trope at least twice before, it lacks originality for me.

Israel and Alyx are very incompetent. And immature. Which would be ok if they weren't supposed to be a well-trained soldier (Alyx) and a street-smart fighter (Israel).

One example: Alyx who heals wounds and is basically immortal asks Israel to stay and wait while she follows a demon. He wants to protect her (because she is dainty and small and tiny - and you know girls need to be protected, even if they are immortal warriors and you are not). So now Alyx needs to rescue Israel, who gets caught by the demons, and gets injured in the way - not to speak of the failed mission.

The writing is not all bad - but the characterization and the plot didn't do a thing for me.
