This felt like a lot longer than 278 pages on audio.  This was over 10 hours long…10 hours of unlikable characters, lines delivered in the wrong context and an annoyingly done love triangle (or square).

I don't usually get this upset with love triangle's, but this one really irked me.  Solina flip-flopped almost the entire book between Val and Thorin and ran hot and cold in her interactions with each, throughout.  She pushed away then pulled them in and pushed away again.  So much so, that I'm thinking she really likes Skyla instead.  Skyla accused her of having a girl crush, even.   I think the narrator is at fault for how cheesy the lines were delivered, she was not on her game at all.  This could have been a really good story, otherwise, because the Nordic element was an interesting one.  I just couldn't get past my dislike for these characters and the narrator to really listen to it.

Will I continue this series?  Nah…I'll pass.

My Thoughts

Some of the others who have read this book, have loved it. And yet, the reasons that they loved it so much more than the first two books, are the same reasons that I did not like as much as the first two books.  The biggest of those reason's being that it's darker than the first two stories.  Darker in a way that makes it physically painful to read at times.

Talia's story is sad and heartbreaking, and yet I didn't really feel like I connected to her as much as I wanted too.  Alexi is clearly broken too, and his story is heartbreaking, but made even more so by the treatment of his family or Vory as they're called.  I'm just not feeling this Vory…their code that they live by or whatever.  I don't think it's for me.

Tracy Marks has done excellently with the narration of this series…but this particular story, and I think it may be because of the Russian accent rather than the Irish accent, fell a little short of excellent for me.

My Thoughts

To be honest I've only had the experience of audiobook with this series, and I already have the next one, titled Ghost, on audio too.  Tracy Marks does an exceptional job with the accents in this series, without going over the top and just making it so you can't understand what's being said.

All the players from Crow are back and the timeline for this is generally the same as the first book.  The dream/nightmare sequences with Ronin are intense and tortuous to say the least, but they help paint a picture of who the Reaper is.  For me, he makes this story worthwhile, despite not really liking mobster romance novels.  Ashleigh Zavarelli, has so far, done a good job of making me rethink how I feel about them.

Sex Factor:  Yes, very explicit…but somewhat unique because of Ronin's  circumstances.
