Black Millennial Experiences Are Missing In New Report On Millennial Experiences

In a February report conducted by the Pew Research Center, millennials are assessed based off a number of indicators: education, employment, housing, family, voting and income and wealth. Despite this very thorough research, there are gaps when it pertains to data highlighting the intersection of the millennial experience with African-American narratives.

In a Nielsen report, it was noted that of the 83.1 million millennials living in America, 11.5 million or 14 percent of the millennial population are African-Americans.

Non-book post: Anime voice actor Vic Mignogna accused of sexual harassment

Warning: the article has detailed descriptions of the accusations.

This isn't really book news, but I figured I'd post it since manga volumes are books and manga and anime fans often overlap.

I just read the article (mostly - I had to start skimming near the end, because it made my skin crawl), and I'm deeply disappointed. He really is huge in the industry - if you've listened to a Funimation dub, you've probably heard him. The one role of his I absolutely loved was Edward Elric in Fullmetal Alchemist and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.

I'm glad that Funimation seems to be taking this seriously, although it sounds like this has been going on for long enough that it should have been an issue for them sooner.

ICE Drops Aggravated Felony Charges Against 21 Savage

The charges against 21 Savage that led to his ICE arrest have been dropped a day after the musician was released from U.S. Immigrants and Customs Enforcement on bond.

Initially, charges of aggravated felony would serve as the basis for the "a lot" rapper's deportation.

“I think this case is emblematic of a lot of cases where people are detained for not correct reasons, but they don’t always have resources to fight the system,” Charles Kuck, a lawyer for Savage, told BuzzFeed. “This case is very emblematic of what happens in immigration court and detention.”
