New Garden Purchases.

So i went on a slight road trip the other day with friends. We started off in brisbane (where we currently reside) drove to Gympie (about 3 hours away) for a swap meet, Milky/Cory's parents had a store there. My mother lives just outside of Gympie so she came and said Hi! :) was great.

I bought these.....

After the swap meet we drove to Hervey Bay (another 3 hours or so) to where Milky/Cory's parents live and crashed for the night, had a blast. also they paid out on my apparently very slow knitting :/ i dont think im that slow. besides i dont want to make any mistakes.

anyways Hervey Bay is very pretty. here's some pictures....

then we turned around and drove all the way back occasionally stop to buy random things. i found this awesome little garden/nicknack store about an hour out of gympie, started with T......

Im pretty sure a good portion of the stuff there was hand made, which is awesome!

Review: Pretty Little Things by Teresa Mummert

Ummm... So, in the face of all the rave reviews I've read about Pretty Little Things by Teresa Mummert... I'm going to be the honest bad guy and ask... What in the hell did I just read?

There is talent here, let me just say that first. The quotes and emotional thoughts you can take away from this book are countless, and the writing itself has the ability to touch your heart, but this is a novel. Not poetry.

I've never read a book that was so completely rushed and underdeveloped. And what really gets me fired up is that it has the potential to be MIND BLOWING! So much potential.. I can't even... *sigh*...

I couldn't relate to the characters or the chemistry that they supposedly have. Their situation didn't affect me at all, even though it's supposed to be horrid and heart-breaking. There just wasn't enough development in order for me as a reader to connect to anything about this story.

It was almost like I was skimming, except I wasn't. I read the book word for word, and I felt like I was only able to barely break through the surface. Like someone was telling me bits and pieces of a story and it was up to me to put it all together...

Maybe I'm missing something because, like I said, rave five star reviews are running rampant about this book...

But I just couldn't feel it....

Vibes
Vibes - Amy Kathleen Ryan I picked this up just to see what Ryan could do with something that wasn't set in space. It's a very different sort of novel, and a completely different type of heroine--she's brash and abrasive and would almost be off-putting, if she weren't just vulnerable and colorful enough to seem truly real. Ryan is as fabulous as ever, technically, but is far better in "Vibes" at allowing us to see inside her characters' hearts and minds. It's an extremely engaging book. I only downgraded it some for language, which always bugs me. 3.5 stars.
