Bitter Harvest, Wendy Tyson
Bitter Harvest - Wendy Tyson

I really enjoyed this cozy mystery. I received this for free and I voluntarily chose to review it. I've given it a 5* rating. This second book in this Greenhouse Series pulled me in again to this small town setting with more dead bodies coming to light almost from the first. The very busy heroine puts her life on the line more than once, dragging friends and workers along with her. To mix the pot more, there is a community celebration bringing more strangers into town. This kept me guessing till the end, and wasn't who I thought it could be.

Review of The Bitter Kingdom — Not Bad I'd Say!
The Bitter Kingdom - Rae Carson

Another series that I had embroiled myself into came to a conclusion with this book. Here are some things I have loved about them both, i.e., the book and the series:

Elisa is a teenage character who doesn’t wait for the action to come to her. She doesn’t whine about being misunderstood or why her crush doesn’t love her — mostly because he does but that’s majorly due to who she is as a person and not because of how pretty she is. Their relationship is one built on mutual trust and respect, which was refreshing to see in a YA novel. She cares about the others and interacts in a positive way with other female characters. She evolves just like a real person would over the course of the trilogy. When she loses what made her special, i.e., the godstone, she realizes it wasn’t the jewel but her own strength that made everything possible. Therefore, she keeps on being her awesome self!

Now here is what I didn’t like:

The godtsone that Elisa was born with is why she is directly connected to god. It is also why wars are being fought and she remains a target in all three books. Yet the circumstances that led to the stone’s falling out were highly anticlimactic and even random. What was thatabout? Why design a whole series around a concept if it didn’t even matter in the end?

Another relatively minor quibble was the reason why her sister treated Elisa like shit all their lives wouldn’t stand up to close scrutiny. When viewed in its light, Elisa’s forgiveness didn’t really make sense either.

BITTER SWEET HELL (Hell Night Series, #2)

Available Now!

The Hell Night Series continues with JW's story! A sexy sheriff and the gypsy girl that demands his attention.

As the Sheriff of Malus, Texas, JW takes his oath to protect its citizens very seriously. Born from a ugly past, he swears no child, woman, or man will ever endure what he and his brothers have. As he seeks retribution of the ones who wronged him, his past and his present finally collide. Secrets are laid open. Ones that are so heinous, they’ll rock the very foundation of JW’s life.

When Eden blazes into town, hot with her own threatening troubles baring down on her, JW steps in as her protector. It’s not only his duty, but a need he can’t ignore. The chemistry between the two is instant and all too tempting.

>Giving in was easy, but the consequences were high.

Little does JW know, the disturbing destruction that would rain down on Malus and its people by getting involved with the red-headed gypsy.

Danger lurks just around the corner—it’s dark, terrifying, and malicious.

JW is bitter because of his gruesome past. Eden is sweet despite hers. Together, will they create a beautiful future, or will it all end in bitter sweet hell?

I am a big fan of this authors books the more of them I read the more I fall in love with this authors books and each and every book we have read so far has been fantastic!Bitter Sweet Hell Was an awesome story that shook me to the core until the very end.
I have really read some very Dark Romance books in my time but, this story is the darkest to date.I have to say that the story had me on edge the entire time and it also made me uncomfortable ,make me shake, made me grieve, brought tears to my eyes time and time again.
The story effected you emotionally it was impossible not to.This story was one of those stories that had you engrossed and enmeshed in this suspenseful story. This story gripped my heart and was so heart wrenching at times that I thought if I was not going to be able to finish the book out.
I always pick a favorite character and this time around mine is going to be JW. I loved his character from the onset of the story as I loved his protectiveness, his bossy attitude and his sexy smile but, most of all loved that he was able to move beyond his past although it will never be forgotten and how much he suffered.
We loved Eden as well she fit JW perfectly she was the Light to his Dark.I loved the nickname he gave her of Gypsy because that was my first impression of her also as well as fit her personality .
We have to say that well loved all the other characters as well especially those hardened broken men who think they are so broken that they deserve to be alone. My heart went out to each and every of those men for the all suffered from.
This story had us on one heck of an emotional roller coaster ride with all that suspense both present and past and also for the tragedies both past and present.I can't even talk about Hell Night because it makes me sick and brings me pain.
The romance between JW and Eden was super hot! Playful as well as sweet. What I loved most about the connection these two forged is that she was the perfect balm to his tortured soul.
Overall a superb suspense Dark Romance read that took you on one heck of a ride and it was so emotional, touching, gripping and heart wrenching that you could not help be engrossed in this tragic story to the very end.I will say that the story stayed with me hours after finish reading it and even effected by dreams that night and not in a good way.
We loved the thrilling ride!
I need to go back and read book one with Troubles story because I need to see how all these broken men find their happily ever afters now....
Personal note- This story is not for the faint of heart and not for individuals that have triggers when it comes to excessive violence and rape victims. This story was tragic and effected men women and children.I do not recommend reading this story at night time.

AFTER LEAVING REMI AND GRACE at their places, which were on our way to Judge’s, we walk up the steps to Judge and Jenny’s house. All of Judge’s women have a place of their own. Most times, he’s with one of them, but every so often, he’ll stay in his renovated childhood home. When my brothers and I came back to town ten years ago, we all had our homes gutted and refurbished, not wanting anything from our pasts to invade our futures.
Eden stops at the screen door and turns to face me.
“Thanks for walking me home.”
Those metal bracelets she’s always wearing clink together as she grabs her braid and twirls the end around her finger.
“It was my pleasure.” I take the end of her braid from her hand and finger the strands myself. “You should go without the scarf more often. Your hair is gorgeous.”
Her eyelids lower and her tongue darts out to swipe her bottom lip, tempting me to run my tongue along the same path and lick away the moisture she left behind.
Her voice drops when she speaks again. “It’s a pain to take care of. I’ve been thinking about cutting it off.”
“No,” I growl before I can stop myself. Her brows shoot up, so I soften my tone. “It’d be a sin to cut off all this stunning hair.”
She smirks. “I highly doubt God would fault me for cutting my hair.”
“You’re probably right. Let me rephrase. It would be an utter shame.”
I step closer to her, my fingers still gripping her braid. I wrap it around my fist. She moves back a step and her ass meets the screen door. I twist the braid a couple more times.
“What are you doing?” she whispers, her eyes darkening to an emerald green.
I close the remaining gap between us. “Showing you the benefits of not cutting your hair.”
Pulling gently on her braid until her head tips back, I dip down until my lips graze hers. They’re soft and sweet. So much fucking better than I imagined.
Her mouth opens when she releases a breathy moan, and I take advantage, sweeping my tongue inside to explore better. My cock swells against the zipper of my jeans, and I want nothing more than to hoist her up and grind myself against her warm center. Preferably with her skirt lifted. Would she be bare beneath her skirt or would she have on a pair of cute little panties? Either would work for me.
Her small hands grip my shirt at my sides, and I wonder if she’s going to push me away or pull me closer. I’d stop if she wanted me to, but I really fucking hope she doesn’t.
When her grip tugs me closer and her tongue shyly meets mine, I groan in relief. I shift closer and encircle my arm around her waist, pressing her flush against me. My dick both weeps and rejoices at the intimate contact. Leaving her delicious lips behind, I trail wet kisses down the side of her neck. The unique flavor of her skin is addicting, like heroine to a druggy.
“Want to know why I don’t want you to cut your hair?” I murmur against her neck.
Her head tips back until it thumps against the door. “Why?” she breathes.
I nip the flesh where her neck meets her shoulder.
“Because I want to feel it trailing over my chest as you ride my cock.”
She shudders out a breath, her nails digging into my sides. I nudge away the thin material of her shirt on her shoulder with my chin and run my tongue and lips over the exposed skin.
“I also want to wrap it around my fist and use it to tug you back as I fuck you from behind. I bet your pussy would strangle my cock when I do that, wouldn’t it?”
Instead of answering verbally, she nods and presses her hips hard against mine. I wedge one of my legs between hers and press my thigh into her core. Surprise and pleasure force a growl from my lips when she wraps her calf around my leg and digs her pussy onto my thigh.
I’m fucking dying. Dying to flip her around, toss up her skirt, and give us the pleasure we both crave. I’m dying to drop to my knees and lick up every drop I know her body has produced. I’m Goddamn dying to have her delectable lips surround my cock and have her suck until she drains me. I’d grip her long hair and help guide her to the finish line.
A throat clearing behind us has Eden stiffening in my arms. I don’t give a fuck who it is, I want to kill them. Eden lifts her head from the door and peers over my shoulder at the unwanted and untimely intruder. My grip on her hair tightens for a fraction of a second before I let her go. Red tints her cheeks, but I’m not sure if it’s from what we were just doing or being caught by Judge and Jenny. Her eyes shoot to me, and she gently presses against my chest. I take a step back, missing her body against mine the second it’s gone.
“Sorry!” Jenny squeaks from behind us.
I shoot Judge a glare over my shoulder. The bastard has the audacity to raise an eyebrow, like he doesn’t care what he just interrupted. He meanders up the fucking stairs, as if cock-blocking me is an everyday occurrence, his hand entwined with Jenny’s, pulling her behind him. At least she has the sense to look embarrassed and regretful for the interruption.
I step back from Eden and pull her to the side, so the two can go inside.
“Payback’s a bitch,” I inform Judge in low tones as he opens the screen door.
“This was payback. For the time you interrupted Layla and me in the back of The Hill.”
“Fucker,” I mutter, because he’s right. That shit was hilarious at the time. It’s not so funny now.
He laughs and lets the screen door slam behind him. “No fucking on my porch,” he calls out.

Great Story and Characters
Bitter Moon - Alexandra Sokoloff

Cara wakes because of the moon. The moon always sends the rush of fight or flight chemicals in her blood, galvanates her body with a warning of danger , a command to wake and act. The mechanical scratching announces Its presence. The monster is after her again, coming for her. That had left her scratched and bleeding and almost dead. She had a few minutes because she knows. She knows the sound of It. It’s smell. The hoarse and grating breath, the stench of sweat and malevolence. She knows because she has been in a room with It before. But now she is bigger, stronger, and deadlier. Now she is angry. It stole her family, left her alone and scorned, and shunned. This time she will fight back. This time Cara will fight to kill. The creature slips stealthy into the locked room. The counselor has brought a fifteen year old bully for company or camouflage or maybe both. He tells the bully to hold her down but she jumps forward and It is caught unaware and she is punching, scratching, and kicking. She broke the boys nose and he is bleeding. The mans testicles are crushed. She brings her foot down on the man's knee to snap the joint. Both man and boy are unconscious. It will be back she knows it. For nw she waits for them to take her to jail. Cara is twelve years old. Two years later-Cara is in an ugly dark official transport van. The sun is blinding after two years of confinement. The feeling of movement is alien. She has only been transported a couple of times during her captivity. She feel the drugs in her blood, dulling her senses. She does not know where she is being taken. Since she was five she has not known where They will send her next or what she will have to face when she gets there. She had been at The Cage - low brick prison-maximum security juvenile detention prison. Than she realizes she is in Riverside County where her aunt lives. Where she had been arrested, convicted, and sentenced two years ago. Than she is in the desert which is better than the city, there are less people and you can see things coming and run. Than she sees the group home. She sees her new jailer Mrs Sharonda . Her mouth is in a hard line, a warning :Don’t mess with me. There will be no slipping past this one. Than Ms. Sharonda said they were on a levels system. The home was level five. Cara was an expert on group homes since she was nine years old. She is to be in the ninth grade and Ms. Sharonda asks if Cara can handle that and she said yes. Cara has not been in school since seventh grade, The Cage only had textbooks. Than Cara is told to read something and it was some poetry. It was a test. Her first instinct always is too hide any abilities from strangers until she knows what the test is for. She was told a mini bus would would take her back and forth to Las Piedras High. She was to start the next day. .Than Cara was told she’s t see the psychiatrist. Cara asked for a name change Maybe if she could be anyone else the monster will not be able to find her this time. She was told the school changed her name on the role, she will be Eden Ballard. It was a start. Than she seen Dr. Everhard and questioned. Every answer is Cara gives is made to make her appear normal. No matter how she answers she will get medications. She wish the medications would work. Since that night she sees and hears Them. She grabbed a pen from the psychiatrists desk. A pen can be a functional weapon. When in her room she checks the door. She has spent most of her life learning to pick locks and get out and into places.  At dinner Cara meets the other kids. A spectrum of psychiatric disorders. Monique was the largest girl and when given the chance she asks Cara /Eden had been sent to Y A. Cara had been the youngest in jail. There had not been such a thing as home since Cara had been five. Roarke has been dreaming but all he remembers is the glare of the moon. Roarke is an FBI agent. Than Roarke checks his phone and he has a message” Special Agent Roarke, I’ve been trying to get you for a long time.” Roarke is getting many voicemails by Sheriff Ortez taunting him on Cara’s disappearance. Cara had been captured but escaped. Roarke is obsessed with Cara. Roarke is on leave as he needed to step away he was shaken from his last interaction with Cara. Roarke is driven to investigate a cold case involving Cara- she had been fourteen. Roarke questions many of the rules he has lived by. Roarke goes to the place of Cara’s childhood where the sheriff works and lives. Roarke needs answers and it brings him to seeing the horror Cara experienced when so young. Roarke learns a human monster is troweling Cara’s old H S. Roarke goes back to Cara’s first group home and something wasn’t right there. Roarke was going to find out the truth.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. But it was sad there can be such reality in a novel that is so horrendous . This was great writing with a great plot. This grabbed me right from the start  and didn’t let go until the end. You must read the books in this series in order. This was so realistic you can find a lot of these type events in our lives today. My heart went out to Cara and all she endured to become what she was a vigilante killer of what she saw as evil. Somehow the past and present being told didn’t annoy me like it usually does. The author did an excellent job on this story and handling of the horrible  at can and do happen. This book is fantastic and I highly recommend the whole series as well as this book.

Bitter Sweet Love by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Bitter Sweet Love - Jennifer L. Armentrout

I need to read White Hot Kiss!
Jas and Dez, the chemistry is off the chain! These two ignite the reader with their love story that is under rather odd circumstances.
I'm so intrigued by the whole world they live in and how the rules are. Besides them fascinating me, their story really is one out of a fairy tale.
I like the balance of demons and wardens, basically good and evil. Surprisingly they even sometimes go together.... like this one character....
Yup, a great start to this romantic and gripping story!
