Fun Christmas Book
Driving Home for Christmas: steamy billi... Driving Home for Christmas: steamy billionaire romance (Billionaire Holiday Romance Series Book 1) - Lexy Timms,Book Cover by Design

Driving Home For Christmas is a fun holiday read by Lexy Timms.  Yes, I read Christmas books in June, don't judge.  Ms. Timms has delivered a wonderful story populated with a fantastic group of characters.  Colin is trying to get to a business meeting and charity event when his plane is forced to land because of snow.  On the same flight is Abby, she's had a rough couple of months, losing her boyfriend, best friend, savings, home and job.  Abby is forced to hitch a ride with Colin, the Grinch, when she can't rent a car of her own.  Abby and Colin's story is loaded with drama, laugh out loud humor and smokin' hot sex.  I enjoyed reading Driving Home For Christmas and look forward to reading more from Lexy Timms soon.  Driving Home For Christmas is book 1 of the Billionaire Holiday Series but can be read as a standalone.  This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

Trusting Cade (Custos Securities #1) by Luna David
Trusting Cade (Custos Securities #1) - Luna David,Book Cover by Design

Trusting Cade is the first book in the Custos Securities series, and also the first book by this author I have read.

We start off with Cade, who is feeling dissatisfied with his personal life. His best friend takes him to task, telling him he needs someone completely different from himself, and as luck would have it, fate drops someone into his lap (not literally!) Bradan is a diabetic runner and baker who is having stalking issues. His business partner is Cade's best friend's sister, so there you have the link. They have insta-lust, with promises of forever pretty much straight away. Bradan's stalker has other ideas though.

This was an easy, but long, read with no real surprises along the way. In some respects, although the storyline is full of hard issues, it was all too easy! Cade figures out who the stalker is immediately, although he isn't able to find him. As stated by other reviewers, some of the conversations are a bit stilted, and definitely don't sound like 'normal' conversations. However, as a first book, I found it to be enjoyable, and would definitely read more by this author.

* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and the comments here are my honest opinion. *

Cover of Night by Laura Griffin
Cover of Night (Alpha Crew Book 3) - Laura Griffin

This review can also be found at Carole's Random Life in Books.

This was a very well done novella. I was really excited to win a copy of this book in a Goodreads giveaway because I have been wanting to try Laura Griffin's writing for some time. I discovered that I really enjoy her work. This story really did a lot in just a few pages and left me feeling very satisfied in the end.

Karly is a journalist spending time with a United States ambassador at a resort in Thailand. Things end up going horribly wrong when terrorists attack the resort. Karly's quick thinking may be what keeps her alive and her phone call at the start of the attack is what alerts others to what is happening.

This story started with a bang. There was so much action and I was in fear for Karly. She handles the situation a whole lot better than I would have been able to do. She meets Ethan, a Navy SEAL, during the rescue operation and they make a connection. That connection becomes even more intense when they run into each other later after everything is over.

I liked Karly and Ethan. Ethan was hard not to like. He was everything that Karly needed him to be during the rescue mission and was able to do what needed to be done. He was really willing to put everything on the line. Karly handles herself well under pressure but she does have some emotions to deal with when everything is over. I loved them together and thought that they had wonderful chemistry.

I would recommend this novella to others. This was an incredibly fast paced and action packed romance that had me turning pages as quickly as possible. I was completely entertained by Karly and Ethan's story and have plans to read more from Laura Griffin soon.

I won a copy of this book from a giveaway on Goodreads.

Initial Thoughts
This was a nice short read. Lots of action and great characters. I would definitely read more from this series.

Cover of Night (Alpha Crew Book 3)
Cover of Night (Alpha Crew Book 3) - Laura Griffin

Cover of Night is a novella that gives us the story of Navy SEAL Ethan and reporter Karly. Karly is in the Philippines covering a story about an ambassador who happens to be a little bit of a playboy. While there, the resort is attacked by terrorists and hostages are taken. Karly manages to escape and warns the US government, thus allowing them to send in a SEAL team.

Again, Cover of Night is a novella so character development is a bit weak. You dive right into the action and there isn't a whole lot of background given on Karly or Ethan. The action is the focus and as a reader, you just have to kind of 'go with it'. There is a bit of that 'instant attraction' between these two, which might irritate some readers. However, I again point out this is a novella! I didn't struggle with this because, one, I like insta-love (but I wouldn't call this insta-love, more like insta-interest), and two, I know in a novella, the details and descriptions have to go sometimes!

The action is interesting and the location is exotic so it kept me interested. Its a quick read that you can finish in a weekend and will scratch the itch for a quick romantic suspense!

  • POV: 3rd

Never The Bride (Dilbury Village #1)
Never The Bride (Dilbury Village #1) - C... Never The Bride (Dilbury Village #1) - Charlotte Fallowfield,Book Cover By Design,Karen J Great easy read. Whizzed through this as it was light and well written. Style was easy to follow and gave enough detail not to feel like a short story. The descriptions and characters jumped ahead a little bit fast at times but you filled in the gaps as the story developed. I think it probably could have been a bit slower in parts but on the other hand it was not boring!
