I just spent the last half-hour sending book reports to BL for the Bloody Cross series, because except for the third volume I don't think there was a single thing right with any of the data on them. Wrong titles, covers, publication dates, author, publisher, format, etc. One of the volumes I've owned for MONTHS apparently was scheduled to be published today, haha. But BL did actually fix the cover of the first volume - which I believe I complained about a few days ago - before I got there, so yay, at least we know they are actually paying attention.

Now let's wait and see if we can actually get some serviceable data for this series. I'll give it a while because I'm sure they're bombarded with requests, but I hope it doesn't take too long. I hate to say anything good about GR at this point, but this would be so much easier for all of us if we had librarians like GR did.

*sigh* this one hurts because I worked on this series as a librarian

Apparently amazon data feed is particularly fond of changing valid book descriptions to "book by author"  (boy do I feel stupid for some of the back covers I manually typed in before I stopped being a goodreads librarian).  Gee, how helpful.

I'm actually not looking for these; just a next door to local bookstore bar conversation where we're trying to remember the name of a book in between Irish whisky shots ...

Another day and another book on goodreads vandalized by amazon data

*sigh* here's how amazon data feed overwrote publisher's data feed book synopsis on the goodreads book page for one of my currently readings now looks:

But, let's not anyone forget that amazon data is really, really, (really!) more authoritative than book publisher or goodreads librarian edits … :(

Steve McKinney: Adding Title and Author To Books With No Cover Picture

Reblogging the original post won't work, because it contains "straight" code that would be eaten in accessing the post for reblogging (or editing) purposes.  But here's the link to

Steve McKinney's totorial on

Adding Title and Author To Books With No Cover Picture:

If we all pitch in and help doing this where needed for the books on our own shelves, we can all help making this site even better, one book at a time.
