It took a pandemic to get me back to BL...

Well, I was out of the loop for a looong time on BL but after 6 weeks (so far) of lockdown (week 4 of Government and 2 prior to that when I saw the potential for a SHTF event and got the fear...plus the hospital made a suggestion for me to shield and self isolate ) I feel like I've been reading more and want to update my lists again.  Not sure how many of them will be reviewed but now that every home upgrade/remodel chore has been tackled, the garden has been given a tidy and makeover and every cupboard and drawer in the house has been cleared of detritus I'm dippin' my toe in the BL pool again.

I've seen a few ideas on the blogs here of what I'd like to use to motivate me to get back in the habit of posting and not least of all is Wanda's Pandemic Cusine!  Fab idea and I'm going to have to start posting pics of what I can cobble together from the offerings that hubby brings back from his forays into unassisted food shopping.

My mystery box of Mills & Boon is getting dug out to delve into and likewise my LBD (Little Black Dress) collection is due a start at least after 5 years in the making.

My audible is overflowing so I hope to make a dent in those...

My JAFF (Jane Austen Fan Fiction) books are similarly buckling the shelves so hopefully a few of them will see the light of day too.

So many things I'd like to do and I may or may not get to them all but ThemisAthena posted a comment on one of my posts yesterday that tugged on my heartstrings a bit and it reminded me of what a wonderful community Booklikes has and how much I've missed that.  I hate that there are still so many glitches and faults here - that was the reason I slipped away originally - but maybe if I lurk a bit I'll get my mojo back.  Fingers are crossed.

Sherlock Holmes Vs Dracula Review

I loved this book it was a brilliant story that I really enjoyed.

I read this is 2 sitting's which is rather quick for me because sometimes it take a week to finish a book if I do not enjoy it.

I was worried that i would not like this book because I love the original Sherlock Holmes stories, but it was a nice surprise that I enjoyed it as much as I did. Now I have not read Dracula but now I really want to because it has peaked my interest so I think its going to be on my list of classics that I need to get me hands on. It was good to see Sherlock and Watson to be written by a more modern writer and it was nice to see the clash that Sherlock and Watson had on their beliefs for the answer to mystery.

I have learnt also that there is more to this collection and I do also plan on buying more of  them because the author was amazing and I loved his writing it had me hooked the entire book.

I would recommend this to anyone that does like Sherlock Holmes because it is an amazing twist to the original set of stories.

Sorry this is a short review I need to get back into the swing of things.

The Hate U Give Review
The Hate U Give - Angie Thomas

Image result for amazing word

This book was AMAZING!!!

From the beginning I was hooked on this book and was controversial and it was amazing to read about something that people haven't really approched Angie Thomas done this amazingly.

For a white reader it helped me realise that life for Black Americans is really hard and it was heartbreaking to read that life is still like that for them and has made me want to read more about black history and books that include this culture.

The hype behind this book was totally worth it I loved every page of this book and recommend this to anyone that want to read about the culture of black people.

I don't think I will be able to write any review that will be able to give this book any justice.

Starr Carter was an amazing character and she was so strong and she showed that no matter what happened her voice mattered and she also showed what it is like to be in the black culture and how they are treated differently so I will say that the book does have some trigger warning because of the racial aspect of the book that is rather often.

JUST GO PICK UP THE BOOK NOW !!!!!!

Crazy is my Superpower Review
Crazy Is My Superpower: How I Triumphed ... Crazy Is My Superpower: How I Triumphed by Breaking Bones, Breaking Hearts, and Breaking the Rules - A.J. Mendez Brooks

Crazy is My Superpower

AJ Mendez Brooks

Wow this Autobiography was amazing I could not put it down and binge read the entire thing is two days which for me in this moment of time is amazing for me. She wrote it in so much detail and truth that there was no question unanswered for me I recommend this to anyone that is a fan of AJ Lee inside or outside of the ring.

April is an amazing and an inspiration to read and reading her story and her journey of how she got into the ring which wasn't an easy road at all for anyone to endure this and still be strong and positive like she was is amazing and also her story while she was in the ring like a lot of wrestling autobiography that I have read she did not have it easy in her life before she got to an age to think about going into the ring.

April was such an inspiration because she openly spoke about Bipolar and the effects it can have on a family and the effect it can have on someone if it is mis treated she has inspired me to want to work toward a profession in mental health because I want to be able to help people that doctors can't because they can't see the problem and it isn't physical.

she was also very open with her opinions on her job and the people that she worked with and that her plan was to change how women where seen in the wrestling industry and I would like to think that she done an amazing job at accomplishing that because she wasn't the usual skinny blonde that liked to wear tight dresses she was different in a brilliant way that changed the way women where looked at in a  male dominated industry.
