Rushed
Rushed - Brian Harmon Eric must follow his dream. Literally! But the dream was full of horrifying things and when he finds himself in the same horrific scenario, he must rely on his instincts and his cell phone to survive. What I loved most about this story is the amazingly funny and brilliant dialogue.

Rushed
Rushed - Brian Harmon Mr. Harmon used the word "utterly" so much, I wanted to punch something. Could be a cool drinking game, I suppose. Every time you hear the word "utterly", you take a shot. You'd get wasted in a hurry and likely have alcohol poisoning if you read the book in one sitting.

The main character, Eric, was annoying to say the least. He hates cell phones. We get it. No need to repeat it up until the very last page of the book.

I can't help but think parts of the story are copy/paste victims, because nearly every time Eric gets a call from his wife it's "Eric figured he should call his wife, but he hates cell phones and he knew it wouldn't be long before she called him. SURE ENOUGH, his phone rings!"

Sigh.

The story was a cool idea, but I couldn't bring myself to read the second novel.

The Devil's Walk
The Devil's Walk - Brian Harmon Short. Vivid. Was it reality? I don't know, but it was a good little story. I really enjoyed it. Just enough pages to enjoy, not bogged down or over detailed. This story doesn't break new ground but it effectively entertains. I will definitely read more by the author.

From Such Small Things
From Such Small Things - Brian Harmon

This short ghost story has all the odd happenings you would expect - unexplained noises, phantom footsteps, knocking on the walls, strange shrieks. But you know what creeped me the fuzz out?

The closet door wouldn't stay shut.

nope

When I was little I'd have frequent nightmares about my closet door suddenly bursting open by itself. Sometimes there would be the requisite "horrible thing" lurking in the there. Even now as an adult all closet doors must be firmly shut, and all room entryways must have their doors completely open against the wall, or else I will freak the hell out.

I thought this was a great story, very well-written with only one typo. I would have liked a little more detail on where the box came from and what was in it, but the paranormal and the unexplained do go hand in hand.

4 stars

The Box: Book One of The Temple of the Blind: 1
The Box (The Temple of the Blind, #1) - Brian Harmon I was so intrigued about the mystery of the box and then the cover of the book just set my mood, that I could not put down this book. ALbert was so focused on finding out the meaning behind the mystery box that was left for him that he left no stone unturned as he led Brandy on his unground expedition. I don't know if I could have venture as far as the two of them did under the ground without more planning or more supplies, as I was getting creeped out with the details of their journey. This book is for the mature reader as some of the rooms led the couple on adventures they never imagined possible and their behavior was risky and spontanous. One thing leads to another and the author does an excellent job having the book come alive for us readers without overkill. The ending was not what I expected and I was hoping for something entirely different, I guess that just means I have to pick up book #2.For mature readers only as sexuality and nudity are included.
