DNF: Armed and Fabulous (Lexi Graves, #1) by Camilla Chafer
Armed and Fabulous (Lexi Graves Mystery, #1) - Camilla Chafer

This is just a mess. A ridiculous mess.

Lexi is a moron. She's supposed to be incredibly smart, but she keeps trying to get herself killed. She's supposed to not draw attention to herself, but proceeds to do just that. Over and over.

While she's trying to get herself killed, she's also supposed to be planning her older sister's baby shower. But her sister kinda hates her and Lexi feels the same. So why she was asked to plan the shower in the first place, I don't know. But the side plot of this baby shower is just silly. It doesn't further the story, it's just a distraction.

Then we get a love triangle, which makes no sense. Neither of the guys are fleshed out, all we know is that they're gorgeous. So Lexi is torn between two men whose only qualities are "being hot", which doesn't make her seem very smart. Especially when she literally knows nothing about one of them aside from his name. I wouldn't even be surprised if one of these guys turns out to be a villain because she hasn't done her due diligence in finding out just exactly who she's making out with. Not smart, Lexi. Not smart at all.

I will say that there are a few seriously funny moments. I would have DNF'd this earlier but then I'd catch a laugh and keep on. Unfortunately, I had enough of Lexi's blind stupidity and her repeatedly dragging her friend Lily into danger.

She's not very fabulous and she's not even armed, so screw this book.

Illicit Magic - Camilla Chafer 3.5 stars, maybe 4. I enjoyed this book and may read more of the series. Suspenseful and dark at times, but a quick read.

Illicit Magic (1, Stella Mayweather Paranormal Series)
Illicit Magic - Camilla Chafer True story, folks:She has always been a very open minded person and although she did admit that sometimes she was a little too harsh on people, she tried to work on it. So when Illicit Magic asked her if she wanted to pick it up, she had to think about it. "How old are you, exactly?" she asked and Illicit Magic didn't really answer. She looked at it's face, murmered "Urgh, Young Adult. Go away." and that was that. She's not a big Young Adult literature fan. Most authors change their voice too much and an Indie author whom none of her Goodreads friends had reviewed so far? But today there was a moment when she said to herself, "Patricia, grow a pair and buy the motherfucking book. You don't need to read it right away, but come on, it won't kill you. You managed to finish Destined after all. There's almost nothing that you can't do!"

Illicit Magic - Camilla Chafer
I am beside myself after reading this book. The story line is amazing and with some exceptional direction and editing it could be a hidden treasure. It was very daunting for me to read. I had to force myself to slow down my reading speed so I wouldn’t get lost in plot line. The grammar mistakes were plastered throughout leaving me questioning why the author chose not to use an editor, or at least a proofreader before publishing.

***SIDE NOTE*** If I can get my hand on a PDF version that I can correct. I will try to revisit the book again and give an updated review.
