LATTES, LADYFINGERS, AND LIES by Harper Lin
Lattes, Ladyfingers, and Lies (A Cape Bay Cafe Mystery) (Volume 4) - Harper Lin

Murder occurs at the jewelry down the street from Fran's café.  The owner asks for her help to discover the murderer and thief of the $50,000 ring from the store.  Fran, although told to stay out of it, gets involved.

I enjoy this series.  I like how Fran's circle of friends is expanding and that we get a glimpse into their friendships.  The story is good and I solve the murder at the same time Fran did.  We both had the same suspects and logic.

This is a fun read.  I hope there are more of Fran and company.

MARGARITAS, MARZIPAN, AND MURDER by Harper Lin
Margaritas, Marzipan, and Murder (A Cape Bay Cafe Mystery) (Volume 3) - Harper Lin
A suspected suicide is found outside of the souvenir shop in Cape Bay. Fran keeps thinking about it and realizes it is not a suicide but murder. Disregarding the police's order to not investigate, Fran does just that. With her information can the police solve the crime?

This started a little slow and confusing. I had to reread the beginning to understand it. The story picks up as Fran starts investigating. She has a logical mind and can see what the police have overlooked. The mystery was good and how Fran pieced it together was interesting.

I like these characters and look forward to reading more of them in the next book.

TEA, TIRAMISU, AND TOUGH GUYS by Harper Lin
Tea, Tiramisu, and Tough Guys (A Cape Bay Cafe Mystery Book 2) - Harper Lin
The second offering in the Cape Bay Mysteries series continues the story of Francesca, Matteo, and Antonia's Italian Café. There is now a second murder and a reunion with Francesca's high school crush, Todd Caruthers.

I enjoyed this story. Matty seems to be jealous of Todd but we are not told why. Seems he likes Franny more than he says or acts upon. As sure as Franny is that Todd is innocent, Matty is not so sure. Can it be the insecurities and jealousies of high school are rearing their ugly h

As sure as Franny is that Todd is innocent, Matty is not so sure. Can it be the insecurities and jealousies of high school are rearing their ugly heads? I had fun watching Matty counter every argument Franny comes up with on Todd's innocence.

Franny is also playing with adding tea to the menu. I liked her experimentation and methodical eye to detail whether on coffee, tea, or murder. I like how she is right in the middle of it all. This time though she manages not to anger Mike. The mystery was good. I was totally wrong about who the murderer was until Franny figured it out and explained it to Matty. I'll never be a detective.

I look forward to more lattes, caffes, and teas as this series continues.

CAPPUCCINO, CUPCAKES, AND A CORPSE by Harper Lin
Cappuccinos, Cupcakes, and a Corpse (A Cape Bay Cafe Mystery) (Volume 1) - Harper Lin
Good set up for the Cape Bay Café Mysteries as Francesca has returned to her hometown after the death of her mother. While walking home from the café she finds Mr. Cardosi dead on his back porch. She begins to investigate and finds out she's not as good a detective as she thinks she is.

I enjoyed this book. I liked the first person point-of-view. The mystery was good. I did not figure it out until the end when it was practically spelt out for me. I had the who but the why did not come to me. The

I enjoyed this book. I liked the first person point-of-view. The mystery was good. I did not figure it out until the end when it was practically spelt out for me. I had the who but the why did not come to me. The characters were interesting. I kept hoping the murderer was not one of the regulars. I liked the slow way Francesca and Matteo are getting together as adults since they were childhood friends.

This is going to be a good series. I look forward to reading book 2.
