Wonderful Holiday Romance
Their Christmas Miracle (Charity, Montan... Their Christmas Miracle (Charity, Montana Book 2) - Lynne Marshall

Their Christmas Miracle by Lynne Marshall is a fantastic holiday read. Ms. Marshall has provided a well-written book populated with an outstanding cast of characters. This is a clean read, appropriate for all ages. Hunter is the owner of a cafe when his cousin and his wife are killed in a car accident and he takes their son to raise. Tracy is an RN and uses Hunter's ovens to bake goodies for his cafe and her side business at night. Tracy and Hunter's story is loaded with drama, humor, spice and Christmas goodness. I enjoyed this book and would be happy to read more from Lynne Marshall in the future. Their Christmas Miracle is book 2 of the Charity, Montana Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

Shades of Pink Anthology

As you may know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In 2013 and 2014, the first Shades of Pink events raised over $10.000 for research!

For our third event, 33 authors have allied for 1 cause: fundraising for research. Their gift to everyone who makes a donation? A romance anthology (ebook) titled Shades of Pink (volume 3), totaling over 270.000 words.

The suggested donation is $5. Funds are raised via Stayclassy.org and all proceeds go directly to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Readers can also donate to the charity organization of their choice (with a focus on breast cancer) and email their receipt to receive their copy of the anthology in either PDF, ePub or mobi (kindle).

The 31 brand new, never published before short stories vary from sweet (no sex) to explicit or kinky, with shifters, vampires, mermaids, or plain ‘vanilla’ humans, set in the past, the present or the future.

Aiden's Charity (Feline Breeds, #2; Breeds, #2) by Lora Leigh
Aiden's Charity - Lora Leigh

30/3 - 3.5 really. I found this a bit hard to follow due to it being the middle of a series; number 12 in the original Breeds series, number 3 in the Wolf Breeds offshoot series. My confusion regarding the character's prior relationships with each other is my own fault for not checking its series status before borrowing it. Despite never reading a book from this series, I felt like I had read it before. Maybe because there's so many different Breeds, it reminds me of Christine Feehan's Leopard People series which also has numerous human/animal hybrid species and features some very hot, explicit, animalistic sex scenes.

I had quite a disturbing nightmare (which is actually a recurring nightmare that's always just a little different, which I've been having for decades) last night that I think was triggered by the continuing theme of the compound the characters live in being under frequent attack and infiltration by shadowy government forces. I dreamt that my parents were away (I live with my parents and they were actually away this weekend) and my brother and I were the only ones left in the house (he no longer lives at home). At some point in the dream I realised that some very determined burglars were trying to break into the house. I had locked the security screen door and the main door, but they threw a mini grenade (about the size of a marble, in the dream) at the front door and somehow that unlocked everything (it didn't blow the doors off, they just became unlocked). My brother had put the pets in my parents bedroom so they wouldn't get injured in the coming battle and we were getting ready to repel the intruders with the thick newel post my dad keeps under the bed (for just such an occasion) when I woke up panting and sweating. Not the calmest start to a Sunday ever.

Aiden's Charity - Lora Leigh There exist, on several romance readers' forums, threads titled "words to cringe by". This book is one whole word to cringe by.

Lessee... am unable to suspend disbelief in regard to h and her...well, her thoughts are pretty much like every other LL h - all centered around her genitals. Therein lies the problem. We're to believe that an overly analytical biologist (she was analyzing her body's reactions for goodness sake) would think in terms of p_____ and c___ in regards to her genitalia. Or, when observing the H, c___. Yeeaaah....no. Nope; just cannot believe a person who spends all her time pondering what's happening to her ovaries is going to think of her parts by anything other than clinical names.

Then there's the sequence of book releases. I really hate it when authors release (or write) books out of sequence. Technically, Coyote's Mate follows immediately after this one. And yet... the characters from Elizabeth's Wolf, while not even KNOWN about in this one, were in Coyote's Mate (rubs bridge of nose).

Odd that the time frame of this book seemed less than a week yet, she's near death at the beginning and pretty much healed at the end.

If I ever see the word "anus" again, it'll be too soon (and was odd in light of the crude slang with regards to every OTHER body part).

Sweet Charity - N.J. Walters 2.5/5; 3 stars; B-I'm going to give the same review to all three books in this series. I thought N.J. Walters was a good writer. I liked the story development, dialogue and flow of the words. I guess I've come to realize that when I'm reading a science fiction or fantasy story, I want that story....not an erotica story. These three stories had the makings of a decent short futuristic sci-fi, but somehow I just felt it was a set up so each story could show two people meet, have some irresistible pull towards each other, have smokin' hot sex. Then have more smokin' hot sex, and finally, after a day or so, fall deeply in love. I would have preferred to have one book, with the story of the futuristic city and the overthrow of the ruling evil council with the various love stories woven in. I will definitely read other work by this author, I think she is talented.
